Roselyn Sanchez appeared on the last episode of hit show Desperate Housewives (2004) as Gabrielle Solis' new gardener. Sanchéz's character was named Carmen later revealed to be Carmen Luna from Devious Maids (2013) even though this is not mentioned on Devious Maids (2013) itself.
Series creator Marc Cherry decided to name Season 1 episodes after house tasks - with exception of "Pilot". The last episode "Totally Clean" was given to note that the domestic chores were concluded.
For Season 2, Marc Cherry named the episodes after famous theater plays. Each of them regarding a subject that'd be shown on the episode, no matter how subtle.
Several actors from Desperate Housewives (2004) have been a cast member of Devious Maids (2013). Valerie Mahaffey (Olivia Rice) played Alma Hodge on Desperate Housewives (2004)'s third season. Andrea Parker (Brenda Coulfax) played Tom's girlfriend, Jane, on Desperate Housewives (2004)'s season 8. Brett Cullen (Michael Stappord) played a detective on Desperate Housewives (2004)'s season 1. Roselyn Sanchez played Carmen on Desperate Housewives (2004)'s season 8. Rebecca Wisocky played Bree's mother on Desperate Housewives (2004)'s season 8. Mark Deklin (Nicholas Deering) played Bill Pearce on Desperate Housewives (2004)'s season 3. Desperate Housewives (2004) star Eva Longoria is the executive producer of Devious Maids (2013).
Series creator Marc Cherry has stated that before the show aired, he had to re-write the entire Carmen storyline. Alejandro was actually a woman whose boyfriend (Shiv) was addicted to drugs and sent to rehab.
