A live-action adaptation of Y: The Last Man has been a long time coming, but another promising update has now helped bring it one step closer to becoming a reality. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Green has been hired as the showrunner on the FX series, which will adapt Brian K. Vaughan’s critically acclaimed comic book series.
Green has also been tapped to co-write Y: The Last Man‘s script, and given his past work, that’s no bad thing. He recently served as a writer on Starz’s upcoming American Gods, not to mention highly anticipated blockbusters like Logan and Blade Runner 2049. Furthermore, he’s previously written for shows like Smallville and Gotham, while feature credits include Green Lantern and Alien: Covenant. That’s one hell of a resume, and as a result, it doesn’t feel too presumptuous to say that Y: The Last Man is in very good hands.

10. Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice
Let me start off by saying that I have not been looking forward to this film. I’m not stoked on the new batsuit, and disagree with their casting of Lex Luthor, simply because I feel as though the character should be older. Having said that, this is the best trailer that I have seem thus far, and I really hope that they prove me wrong. Check out the all new trailer that debuted in Hall H and let me know what you think!

Michael Green has signed up to write a new version of Murder on the Orient Express.
The Gotham and Green Lantern writer has been hired for 20th Century Fox's upcoming adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie novel, Variety reports.
Ridley Scott, Mark Gordon and Simon Kinberg are producing the project, which was first announced back in 2013. A director has yet to be secured.
The film will be based on Agatha Christie's 1934 novel, which follows Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates the murder of an American tycoon on a train.
It was first adapted as a film in 1974 by Sidney Lumet, with Albert Finney as Poirot. The film also starred the likes of Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Sean Connery, John Gielgud and Vanessa Redgrave.
Alfred Molina starred in a poorly-received TV movie version in 2001 on CBS, before David Suchet led the cast of ITV's version in 2010 alongside Jessica Chastain and Hugh Bonneville.

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are hoping to add some serious girl power to television by developing a "Supergirl" series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Greg Berlanti and Geoff Johns, who both serve as executive producers on The CW's "Arrow" and "The Flash," are attached to the project along with "No Ordinary Family" and "Chuck" writer-producer Ali Adler. In addition, Michael Green is also joining the series, according to E! Online. He has produced such series as "Gotham," "Smallville" and "Heroes," and he penned DC's recent "Supergirl" comics. The untitled project, which will be scripted by Adler, is in the early stages of development, but it's expected to be shopped to networks soon. Supergirl, or Kara Zor-El, was created by Otto Binder and designed by artist Al Plastino, ...

Yesterday, we heard a rumor that DC Comics writer and Gotham producer Michael Green was pitching a Supergirl TV series. I was admittedly a bit skeptical about the report, but today several of the trades announced the news themselves and offered several pieces of key information.
First and foremost, Deadline reports that Michael Green will not be involved in the series. Instead, The Flash producer Greg Berlanti has teamed with No Ordinary Family‘s Ali Adler for “a new interpretation of the Supergirl character and her story.” Adler will pen the script, while DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns is expected to have some part in its development as well.
Despite Berlanti’s involvement, Supergirl isn’t likely to join Arrow and The Flash on the CW. According to E! Online, the CW was the first network pitched for the series, but they apparently turned Berlanti and Adler down.

Although the number of Marvel superhero films released in the past six years since they launched their cinematic universe may vastly outnumber those based on DC Comics characters, the opposite is soon to be true on the small screen. With The Flash premiering and Arrow returning for its third season on The CW, Gotham debuting on Fox, and Constantine starting on NBC, there will be more DC TV series than Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. It was reported yesterday that another DC character could join the ranks of small screen superheroes: Supergirl.

Yesterday, it was rumored that Smallville's Michael Green is currently writing and producing a Supergirl TV pilot with DC Entertainment set to pitch it to various different networks soon. Deadline confirms part of the story is true; the show is in development. But it is Arrow and The Flash producer Greg Berlanti who is moving forward with the series, not Michael Green, who is not involved in any capacity.
Greg Berlanti has teamed with his No Ordinary Family partner Ali Adler for this new iteration of Supergirl, which won't be a continuation of Laura Vandervoort's character from Smallville. Instead, this version will put a new spin on Supergirl's origins, and is rumored to be based on the mythology laid out in the New 52 comics. Ali Adler (The New Normal, No Ordinary Family) will likely pen the script and Geoff Johns will be involved as well, but there’s no word on what his role will be just yet. According to Bleeding Cool, it's looking like Supergirl might get her own TV series. Their source says DC Entertainment is pitching the idea and that they've brought in TV producer Michael Green to help.
I'm sure most of you don't know who Green is, but he's worked on developing series such as Gotham, American Gods, Smallville, and Heroes. He was also a writer on Smallville, Heroes, Gotham, and films such as Green Lantern and the upcoming series The Flash. He also worked with Mike Johnson on the New 52 reboot of Supergirl. E! Online confirms that Warner Bros. and DC Comics are indeed pitching a Supergirl TV series to various networks. The news that it was in the works first came to our attention yesterday. Gotham producer and comic book writer Michael Green is attached, but insiders caution that, "there is no deal yet in place, however the series is not expected to go to the CW, who was first pitched the project, and who, of course, houses both Arrow and The Flash." It sounds like they passed on Supergirl then, perhaps because they're satisfied with the success of Arrow and are taking a risk with the CGI heavy first season of The Flash this year. It's a shame though as adding a hero like Kara Zor-El to Oliver Queen and Barry Allen's world would have been great to see. If NBC decide to give Supergirl a chance, seeing her meet up...

While superhero movies have been dominating at the box office year after year, numerous comic book characters are becoming more and more prevalent on the small screen, with new shows such as Gotham, The Flash and Constantine debuting over the next few weeks. Today we have a new report from Bleeding Cool that DC is currently pitching a Supergirl TV series, which has Michael Green (Smallville) attached to write and produce.
While no specific details were given regarding the Supergirl TV series, it seems likely that the show will be based on the New 52 reboot, since Michael Green co-created the comic alongside Mike Johnson, Mahmud Asrar and Dan Green. Unlike the original comics, the New 52 reboot initially didn't include any mention of Kara Zor-El's cousin, Superman, but the comic eventually delved into her own planet, Krypton.

There was a very interesting Easter Egg in Man of Steel which pointed to Supergirl becoming part of the DC Cinematic Universe, but does Kara Zor-El's future actually lie on the small screen? If Bleeding Cool are to be believed, then yes, as DC Comics are said to be actively pitching Supergirl as a TV series. Interestingly, he also worked on the Supergirl comic book during the early days of "The New 52" reboot. It's a pretty glorious day for DC Comics' TV team. Just one hour after The CW officially announced series orders for "The Flash" and "iZombie," NBC chimed in by ordering "Constantine" to series. Oh and NBC also sent the drama "The Mysteries of Laura" and the comedy "A to Z" to series, but since they have nothing to do with comic books, we're somehow less interested. The John Constantine character debuted in 1985 as part of DC's "Swamp Thing" line and went on to be the focus of "Hellblazer" and "Constantine" comics. The character is a former Liverpool conman who now works as a "seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult." "Constantine" was previously brought to the big screen by director Francis Lawrence in a 2005 feature starring Keanu Reeves. The movie made $230 million and still has myriad defenders, even if I'm not one of them. The NBC TV series stars Matt Ryan as Constantine,...

The steady construction of a wider DC universe onscreen is continuing apace. In addition to the Batman origin TV drama, Gotham, on Fox, rival network NBC are steaming ahead with the pilot for their Constantine TV show, adding Lucy Griffiths (True Blood) and Harold Perrineau (Lost) to its cast.
The show follows the exploits of John Constantine (Matt Ryan from Criminal Minds), a con-man reluctantly forced into the role of supernatural detective and charged with the task of defending humanity against the forces of darkness. Lucy Griffiths will play Liv, who is the daughter of a late friend of Constantine. Discovering that she has the ability to see the supernatural world around her, she is targeted by demons as a key player in the ongoing battle between good and evil.
Harold Perrineau will play Manny – an angel who has the ability to ‘step into’ the bodies of humans, and guide their actions.

NBC has issued a pilot order for Constantine, an adaptation of the DC Comics character created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and Jamie Delano in 1985.
We first reported on the project back in September, when NBC brought on David S. Goyer and The Mentalist executive producer Daniel Cerone to write the pilot script. The writers will serve as executive producers on the pilot episode.
The character first appeared in a 1985 issue of The Saga Of The Swamp Thing, before receiving his own comic book series Hellblazer under the DC imprint Vertigo in 1988. In the comics, John Constantine is a con man who becomes a reluctant supernatural detective, serving as a protector from demonic forces. The Hellblazer comics ran for over 300 issues, before being rebooted under DC's "New 52" line, which features a younger version of the character. It is believed that this series will use the "New 52" story line, although that has not been confirmed.

In this piece, I delve into the murky multiple origins of ‘The Clown Prince of Crime’ and come out offering both a history lesson and a splash-page headache.
Spoiler Alert (well, sort of)…
After reading this month’s double-sized Batman Issue 24, it seems we have yet another origin for The Joker, The Dark Knight’s quintessential arch villain…
In this newest genesis, the villain formerly known as The Red Hood falls into a vat of toxic chemicals, as usual, but this time he does so with an (literally and figuratively) explosive twist. Its revisionist history, yes, but it isn’t without precedent. You see The Man Who Laughs has been born (and then re-born) a great many times before.
When comic book readers first met The Joker, he was fully formed and ready to create chaos. Initially a homicidal prankster, The Golden Age Joker’s character would be smoothed over during the McCarthy/Wertham era,...

Every little thing he does is magic, or so the ensorcelled suits at Warner Bros. seem to believe. "Man of Steel" writer David S. Goyer's already pounding away at a Batman-infused sequel, but that may be sidelined, if momentarily, by a case of Vertigo. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Goyer will partner with Daniel Cerone, executive producer of "The Mentalist," to script a "Constantine" pilot for NBC television.
Conjured by scattered bones across a nicotine pentagram in the very image of Police-era Sting, street-wise sorcerer John Constantine first appeared in the pages of Alan Moore’s "Swamp Thing." He soon established his own haunts in Vertigo's long-running "Hellblazer" series, stewarded by the likes of Jamie Delano, Garth Ennis, Warren Ellis, Denise Mina, Andy Diggle, Peter Milligan and more. In 2005, Keanu Reeves donned his demons (but not his brogue or blonde hair) in a film by Francis Lawrence.

In the past few days, we've caught a glimpse of producer/screenwriter David S. Goyer's confidence in absorbing source material and tweaking it when needed, as he recently claimed that he schooled Christopher Nolan on the rules of Batman before “The Dark Knight” trilogy, as well as defended the controversial ending of “Man of Steel.” However contentious his accuracy might be, it's undeniably clear that he cherishes an adaptation, and now he's set to bring another to network TV. Just on the tail of announcing their Commissioner Gordon series “Gotham," for Fox, Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics have decided to continue that comics beat with “Constantine,” a new series on NBC executive produced by Goyer and Daniel Cerone (“The Mentalist”). Last seen onscreen in director Francis Lawrence's 2005 film starring Keanu Reeves, John Constantine is a wry con man-turned-detective who battles demons from beyond, and it...

We've barely had time to digest the news about live-action Batman TV series Gotham being ordered by Fox, when news arrives that another DC property is being prepped for telly treatment (insert tedious simile about comic book TV adaptations and buses).
Chain-smoking occult detective and magician John Constantine, who recently moved into a new home in eponymous comic series after beginning life in Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run in the eighties and continuing in DC and Vertigo's Hellblazer until this year, is planned for a TV debut on NBC.
The network has committed to a "script plus penalty" deal for Constantine, meaning that even if it isn't produced, writer Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist) and producer David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel,...

A big break for young actress Megan Ketch. Ketch, who graduated from New York University’s graduate acting program last year, has landed the female lead in the ABC drama pilot Gotham. The 20th TV-produced project centers on Detective Annie Travers (Ketch), a born-and-bred New Yorker investigating the “impossible murder” of a nightclub owner who is stunned to learn that New York has a whole secret magical history of which she (and everyone else) was hitherto unaware. The pilot was written by Michael Green, with Francis Lawrence directing. In her first pilot season, Ketch received three test offers, one of which resulted in a pilot lead. Not too bad for an actress with only two guest spots under her belt. Ketch, repped by ICM and Brillstein Entertainment, will make her feature debut in the upcoming comedy The Wedding.
