This game has everything. Gameplay is superb. Set your difficulty level and go enjoy yourself. Graphics are amazing....the seasons and weather make you want to stand in a field and just take it all in. The story is so good. One is classic AC and the other has hints of Shogun (the book not the series). The stealth and combat system is very much dependant on your difficulty level, as it should be. Choose the lower level and enjoy the story and craftsmanship, choose the higher level and get ready for a tough time. I have played all the AC games and this one is up there. If you are a fan of AC, this is deffo for you.

Shadows

The graphics are beautiful, the exploration is wonderful, the dynamic weather is the greatest there has ever been with excellent visual and audio changes depending on the conditions. The gameplay and the combat is refined and a huge upgrade on previous entries with different weapons and styles depending on preferance. Stealth is greater than ever before. Very strong start and finish to the game. Maybe a bit slow paced mid part. I finished all story and got the 100 per cent completion. No clear flaw but maybe missing a spark of magic that games like red dead or the witcher 3 have. So I would say 8/10 is the perfect rating.

A Gorgeous and Engaging First Experience

A very well made game. I have to admit I've never played any of the Assassin's Creed games, except for this one. I've only seen clips and people play the other games.

It reminds me of Ghost of Tsushima, which is also a really good game as well.

The story is well made and quite engaging for me. The gameplay is good too and most of it is reliable on exploration, which is like Ghost of Tsushima. The graphics are great, which offer really nice scenes. I love how we can play different characters that are both completely different and have their own story.

Naoe is more of a stealth character and she is better used when needing to be quiet and quick. While Yasuke, who is based off of a real samurai, is more of a brute and meant to fight bigger battles. Each of the characters have different game styles, which some gamers could appreciate.

Overall the story is quite long but enjoyable. The gameplay is adventurous and heavily relies on you exploring the land. The characters are well developed and have their own unique stories and abilities tied to them. Making it an amazing game.

Genuinely blown away!

Wow! A surprisingly rich narrative, genuinely stunning graphics and gameplay that's the best of both Assassin's Creed eras. I know the haters will probably sink this game into the abyss but to me - this is the best game in the franchise since Black Flag! (So far)

I'm only 10h in which sounds like a lot but for a game of this scope it's nothing. I've loved every second, so far and my 10/10 score doesn't mean Shadows is flawless, it just means that the enjoyment level has been sky high. Special shout out to the new dynamic weather and lighting system. Possibly the most effective I've ever seen on a video game and gave the already amazing world of Feudal Japan even more life.

Please give this game a try for yourself and don't let Ubisoft's reputation or that review bombings deter you. Definitely not a perfect experience but an absolute blast!

It may be updated to go higher but right a solid 8.

People need to play the gamebfir themselves. I can already tell some of these reviews bashing the game is just trolls. It's how everything is worded. They are so desperate to throw disdain it's entirely possible they may have started the game and immediately got off it without even getting past the menu. Or they are complaining about traditional things with the series and then saying it's nothing new. If you don't like the traditional gameplay that make it assassin's creed then you were never gonna like it anyway. Your review isn't really valued as you went in with a preconceived notion you were gonna hate so you look for anything to support that theory and then call it justifiable when it's not.

Now so far I've made it a little past the prologue and it's pretty good so far. They do push you to play the characters as they are intended. The female is fast and agile and very deadly when used as intended. If you try to take out more than two enemies at a time there's a likely chance you won't survive it. She's stealth based. Use her that way. As far at the tank goes. He's quite formidable. I haven't played as him much but don't really intend to. The samurai gameplay isn't really my cup of tea. The Shinobi is more assassin based and what I prefer. So all in all it feels more origins toned but at the same time the girl coming to acquire the hidden blade seemed very ezio story inspired but take it how you will.

Make Ubisofr great again

Beautiful since the begining, nicely built narrative, marvelous production design. You really feel like you were on feudal times Japan. Best AC since Odyssey

Game incrível, um dos melhores assassins de todos os tempos. Existe inclusive um breve vislumbre do que está por vir no assassins creed Black flag remake. Jogão!!!

Easily the best AC game ... and arguably the most beautiful game ever (open-world or not).. While it's true the gameplay is slightly **** I do enjoy every minute of it.....whether fighting, exploring different precincts or simply watching the cutscenes as the story progresses...

Shadows is absolutely superb. An incredibly rich story that manages to draw you in and tug at your heart strings. Amazing mechanics. A vast amount of content that never grows old. A true return to form. The only downside are the completely baseless and totally predictable negative reviews from the die-hard anti-Ubisoft brigade who delight in hating anything from this studio. You should just go back to Fortnite and keep your prepubescent opinions to yourselves!

Ignore the 1/10 reviewers, I guarantee they have never played it or have any intention to.

This game is not Ghost of Tsushima. It's far deeper and more varied. There's room enough for more than two accident Japanese RPGs however. If you are a fan of well written and well acted stories, Shadows won't disappoint..

Absolutely excellent

It's so great to see so many new features added to the world of Assassin's Creed. The game feels familiar but fresh, with the same foundational elements that we know and love, mixed with new elements that have been fun to learn. Building the HQ snd sending out scouts has been a fun twist on the traditions of the earlier games. The characters are enging, the landscapes are beautiful and the added bonus of bring able to play teo completely different fighting styles is a welcome addition. What I love about the series is that every game feels a little different. It makes the idea of living the memories of vastly different lives more 'realistic'. It's fun, exciting and another great addition to my favourite game series.

Really enjoying this so far

I'm only 5 hours in but I'm having a great time with this game so far. For those saying they don't enjoy the voice acting, I can genuinely understand - it's a little clunky. This goes double when comparing it against its predecessors AC Odyssey (a masterpiece) and Valhalla. However, I did find that a great fix was switching to immersive mode. Some may not enjoy reading the subtitles, but as an anime sub enjoyer I found the voice acting to be much more dynamic and, well, immersive.

Graphics are awesome when playing on Series X in 4k, especially considering my TV over 5 years old. The level of detail is incredible. Seeing cherry blossoms floating in the wind, dynamic weather, sweeping vistas, it's everything you want in an AC game.

Gameplay-wise, it feels like it's somewhere between Odyssey and Valhalla. The world is absolutely huge without feeling quite as bloated as Valhalla did. The inclusion of the base-builder is already a personal favorite of mine. Again, this mechanic feels quite similar to what we've seen before with Valhalla, but has been expanded to a significant degree. Rather than tracking down materials just to simply unlock a building that can be given a handful of different flavors, you can now merge buildings, place them around a space equivalent to about an acre, and customize specific details of each building's exterior and interior. This may not be everyone's cup of sake, but I am a sucker for base building and I can already tell I am about to comb every square inch of this game for resources to feed my base building addiction.

The game feels pretty polished to me. As I am only a few hours into the game, I have yet to encounter any bugs. So, I'll update again once I'm further in.

The only gripe I have so far would be that the intro does feel a tad long. This is somewhat understandable given that we are being introduced to two separate characters with entirely different stories. The cinematics are enjoyable, but I was also really keen to start playing and would've liked to have had these introductory scenes spaced out between more opportunities for gameplay than the 3 or 4 short times that we get them.

Overall, this is a great game though. I've played a lot of AC over the years and I can confidently say that this is a really solid entry to the franchise.

One of the worst Assassin's creed ever made

Assassin's Creed Shadows had everything going for it on paper: a fascinating historical setting in feudal Japan, ninjas, samurai, and the promise of an epic adventure. But in practice, the game disappoints in many ways. First, the story is sorely lacking in originality: we follow yet another quest for revenge sprinkled with clichés about honor and betrayal, without ever really connecting with the main characters, who remain bland and predictable. The two protagonists, supposed to offer varied playstyles-one stealthy, the other a warrior-end up looking too similar, diluting the appeal of switching between them.

Gameplay-wise, it's rehashed. The stealth mechanics have remained virtually unchanged for years, with enemies with questionable AI alternating between total blindness and supernatural vision. The combat, while fluid, lacks depth and quickly boils down to a spam of blows without much strategy. The open world, though magnificent with its cherry blossom landscapes and temples, is marred by tiresome redundancy: camps to liberate, useless collectibles, and side quests that repeat themselves ad nauseam.

Technically, the game isn't immune either. Bugs abound-clipping, freezes, NPCs spawning in the background-and optimization leaves something to be desired, even on solid configurations. Ubisoft seems to have prioritized quantity over quality, once again. Assassin's Creed Shadows isn't a total disaster, but it's far from revolutionizing the series or delivering on its promises. A title that risks being lost in the shadow of its more inspired predecessors.

Solid

Assassin's Creed Shadows does a great job bringing 16th-century Japan to life with stunning visuals and a well-designed open world. The dual protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, offer a good balance of stealth and combat, making gameplay feel varied and engaging. The historical setting is detailed and immersive, and the story keeps things interesting. While it sticks to the familiar Assassin's Creed formula, the improvements in mechanics and world-building make it a strong entry in the series. Definitely worth playing for fans of the franchise, especially those who enjoy historical settings. Thank you.

A Captivating Journey Through Feudal Japan.

Assassin's Creed Shadows revitalizes the franchise by delivering a meticulously crafted adventure that balances historical authenticity with engaging gameplay mechanics. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to the series, this installment offers a memorable journey through a pivotal era in Japanese history.

Assassin's Creed Shadows delivers an impressive visual experience, particularly on PC, where the game's detailed environments and advanced lighting effects truly shine. The PC version benefits from ray-traced global illumination and enhanced environmental destruction, offering a richer and more immersive experience.

Ignore the hate bandwagon, this is one of the best AC game in recent years.

Very good

Don't understand the hate on it. It s a very good game.

Story 9/10 Combat 9/10 Parkour 10/10 (something new but you can t do it everywhere) Characters 10/10 (IT WAS A BLACK SAMURAI BACK THEN) I playd it since it released and personally I m gald that I did that. A new story , combat , parkour and I really like that you can choose with what character you can play. If you want to feel like you are playing the old assassin's creed don t choose Yasuke. He's good for kombat but he can't do parkour, witch is kinda stupid but at least he can fight. It s a tank and if you want to feel that your are a assassins don't choose him.

game of the year an absolute masterpeice ubisoft outdid themselves

Just incredible so many twists and an incredible story of Yasuke and Naoe based on a true story of Yasuke. The whole templar order are so interesting in this and the whole assassin's creed order in this one works really well. The parkour is much fun with the return of the grappling hook it's so fun to traverse the environments.

The season system is great and is so realistic and the way the weather changes you can use it to your advantage against your foes which adds some interesting game mechanics. Yasuke and Naoe are such awesome protagonists this is defintely has the best graphics yet of ac.

Very poor

Way to many cut scenes. Poor story. Not amazing graphics for present day gaming. Npc's are bit broken. I ever really had much hope for the game to start with and I was still disappointed with the game. Voice acting was bad I thought it was AI until I seen a cast. The movement some how seems old and out dated. The performance was not up to standard. They filled the cash shop with usual rubbish like skins and mounts which is just awful for single player games in my opinion. Then there is pay to reveal hidden/secrets on the map. Ubisoft said get use to not owning your games... Well I got a refund. The first time ever I will not get all the achievements for an assassins creed game. Sad times but this franchise is over for me.

Stunning Feudal Japan Setting with Engaging Dual Protagonists

As a 10 year fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise, Assassin's Creed Shadows delivers one of the most visually beautiful worlds in the franchise, with feudal Japan brought to life through incredible detail and atmosphere. The dual protagonists, Naoe, a stealthy shinobi, and Yasuke, a powerful samurai, offer diverse and satisfying gameplay styles.

Combat is fluid, stealth is rewarding, and the seasonal world design adds depth to exploration. The story is solid, though a bit predictable, and side quests can get repetitive. Still, the game succeeds in blending classic AC mechanics with fresh ideas.

Overall, this is a strong, polished entry that fans of the series and newcomers alike will enjoy.

Assassin's Creed Shadows - A Franchise in Decline

The Assassin's Creed franchise continues its downward spiral. After Valhalla - which was already a major letdown - and a DLC that felt more like a glorified mini-game, Shadows doesn't just fail to redeem the series, it somehow manages to dig deeper.

The voice acting is some of the worst I've ever heard. Honestly, it's baffling how a major studio with so many resources can't find competent voice talent. Even AI-generated voices could've done a better job - no exaggeration. The dialogue? It sounds like it was written during a drunken night out with friends. Clunky, awkward, and totally immersion-breaking.

Gameplay-wise, it feels even slower than Valhalla, which is saying something. And the decision to go with two protagonists again? Just why? Not every game needs two leads. It feels forced and doesn't add anything meaningful to the experience.

Missions are more of the same uninspired content we've seen for years now. Nothing groundbreaking, nothing memorable. The only thing worth praising is the world design - visually, it's quite stunning, aside from the thousands of trees copy-pasted across the map. The prone mechanic is a nice touch, but that alone can't save the game.

At this point, it's hard to see where this franchise is heading, but it's clearly not the right direction.

Claim refund while you can

Only decided to try this because my friend was foolish enough to think it would be good.

Didn't need to play for too long to see that it'd trash. I've been gaming for 30 years so I know good games and bad games and how tell the difference from very early on.

The first thing that made it impossible to play was the atrocious voice acting, I'm particular Yasuke who sounded like he was really struggling to get the English words out.

The graphics are exactly the same as Ubisofts previous 10 to 15 year old games seems like a cut and paste project.

The storyline is pathetically dull and not engaging at all, almost like this game was not made for a story or narrative.

There are bugs, oh yes, there are bugs.

I was lucky enough to get a full refund, hopefully you read this and you don't need to go through trying to get a refund.

Assassin's Creed Shadows takes the audience back to feudal Japan, making it one of the most anticipated changes in the franchise's history. Finally, Ubisoft has been able to fulfill a long-standing dream of fans: becoming a ninja in the form of an Assassin! The detailed environments, traditional castles, Japanese gardens and warring villages, make the game one of the most visually pleasing versions of the series.

In this version, the game has two main characters; one samurai and the other ninja, each of which offers different gameplay and strategy. The ninja's stealth is very smooth, fluid and enjoyable, while the samurai's combat conveys a sense of power and respect. This variety in gameplay makes the experience of each stage, depending on the player's choices, completely different and fresh. The weather system and the day-night cycle also affect the gameplay, which makes the game more alive.

However, some of Ubisoft's classic flaws are still present in Shadows, such as repetitive missions or relatively weak enemy AI. Nevertheless, the game is a big step forward for the AC series, and the combination of the Japanese theme with the Assassin philosophy creates a unique experience that will satisfy both old fans and attract new audiences.

Movie

Assassin's Creed Shadows' early chapters can definitely feel more like a lengthy narrative experience than an action-packed romp, especially if you're eager to get into the combat. The game leans heavily on cutscenes during its introduction-sometimes running several hours of cinematic exposition-which is designed to immerse you in its rich lore and set up the complex world of the Assassin's Creed universe.

Narrative-Heavy Start

The developers have clearly opted to build an intricate backstory from the outset. These extended cutscenes serve to establish the characters, the political intrigue, and the historical context that is so central to the franchise. While this narrative depth is one of the hallmarks of the series, it can be frustrating if you're more interested in testing out the combat mechanics and exploring the fluidity of parkour and stealth gameplay.

Impact on Gameplay

For players like you who enjoy the fast-paced action, the initial barrage of cinematics can seem like a barrier. Spending the first several hours watching story segments instead of engaging in dynamic combat can make the early game feel like a long wait before the real gameplay kicks in. This pacing issue might leave you feeling like you're missing out on the aspects of the game you signed up for-namely, the thrilling fight sequences and the hands-on exploration of the world.

Transitioning to Action

The good news is that as you progress deeper into Assassin's Creed Shadows, the game gradually shifts focus from storytelling to more interactive gameplay. Once the narrative is set, you'll find that the combat mechanics, stealth options, and exploration opportunities begin to dominate. This transition is intended to reward players who stick through the initial slow phase with a more balanced and engaging experience later on.
