The rom-com that you expect
mjamilhrsn21 May 2023
When you tired of hard brain-driven movies like "Prisoners" and "True Detective" all you want is to watch a comedy, romance comedy perhaps, a cliche romance you know what I mean. You know well most of romcom have a simple story, unrealistic, and predicted plot, BUT that format planted in my brain so well and that's okay because that's the point of romcom anyway. And this movie just "clicked" my brain and saying "That's what I need for a romcom".

This movie is one of perfect romcom out there. The dull protagonist character, the pretty cute funny woman, the quirky best friend, the girl's wholesome lover, just perfect as it should be. Not mention about the shots, not that perfect of course but for a random rom-com that you found in netflix, the shots are pretty effortful.

Lets talk about the lacking. The lacking is very obvious for a rom-com, the directing of the emotion is always give you the feeling of "there's something missing" that the emotion not really captured well.

Overall the movie itself just worth to watch with your friends or lover, just casual movie time.

Not bad, but not that good.

Warning: Spoilers
The Thailand romcom will always be iconic by some meme and even realistic Asian's habit, but I really pity the pace of this movie when Guy already made a move on campaign from 0 to day 1000 move on from June. At first, I really adore how romantic they are, but in the middle of the movie, there is a scene that actually not cup of my tea. I find it triggering, and I won't normalize that thing even it's in the movie.

The cinematography are comforting to watch, even the acting and the adlib, but the plot doesn't carry the whole movie. I think it will be better if the director give a realistic ending for both parties. I found the conflicts are having something in common with What's Up With Love 2, but when I find that's how they're end, I'm not surprised anymore.

Another great film from GDH.
tarmdhammawatra10 November 2022
I didn't expect that much before watching this. Just because it's GDH, starring Wongravee Nateetorn (you probably know him from his role as Chalarm in My Ambulance (2019)) and Plearnpichaya Komalarajun, who plays Lin in Bad Genius: The Series (2020). So I decided to watch it. After I walked out of the cinema, I knew right away that I liked it. The movie worked with my feelings. It's related to me. The movie evoked a wide range of emotions in me. The rhythm never matched, the disappointment, the sound inside the head, falling in love, regret, and nostalgia.

It makes me reflect on what I've been through in my life. And another good thing is that the chemistry between the actors made it look real and approachable.

It will make you laugh, have fun, hurt, and relive your memories of the past.

Recommended.

The writing and acting is just on point!
httdungftu17 May 2023
I have to create an account for this review. I didn't expect much going into the movie, but I got hooked from the very beginning. The narrator is funny and so close to your heart. I laughed and cried not because they were trying to do anything crazy, everything was just so casual and relevant.

The movie tells a story of something so wrong such as stealing one's girlfriend in the most humane way. And I can totally understand why the characters acted the way they did, I see their struggles and I actually feel sorry for them.

The writing and directing is really really good but I just have to thank all the actors and actresses, they did a really great job!

I don't think it's slow or boring, I kept wishing it lasted longer cause I didn't want it to end!

10/10.

Oh wow...

Well, the "OMG!" part of the movie's title actually sums up the movie pretty good. But I am getting ahead of myself here.

First of all, I had never heard about this 2022 romantic comedy titled "OMG! Oh My Girl" from writers Thitipong Kerdtongtawee and Thanaram Prameboon prior to sitting down in 2023 to watch it. I had the opportunity to watch it, and since there are a fair amount of good romantic comedies from the Asian cinema, of course I opted to watch this movie.

I made it 45 minutes into the ordeal, and then I tossed the towel in the ring out of sheer and utter boredom and disinterest in the storyline. The writers really failed to put together a movie with any sense of drive or interesting contents. The narrative was so slow paced that even a dead man would go 'could you possibly crank it up a notch or two?' And the fact that there movie was utterly devoid of both comedy and romance was just a swing and a miss, especially since that was the genre the movie was labelled as.

And it didn't help one ounce that the characters were about as interesting as watching wet paint drying on a wall. I was really amazed that it was possible to write characters so dull and monotonous that they just sucked the will out of watching the movie entirely.

Of the cast ensemble in the movie, I was only familiar with Plearnpichaya Komalarajun (playing June). However, I have to say that the actors and actresses in the movie literally had nothing to work with in terms of script, storyline and characters. So they were fighting an already lost uphill battle.

"OMG! Oh My Girl" is not a movie that I will ever return to attempt to watch. I made it 45 minutes into the ordeal, and with a runtime of 124 minutes, this was just a lost cause. And this is definitely not a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on. Some of us suffered through this ordeal in lesser or great extend, so you don't have to.

My rating of "OMG! Oh My Girl" lands on a two out of ten stars.

watch it, it's awesome.

My first ever review.

One of the best romcoms i've ever watched, and i've watched a fair amount...

I don't even know what to say to make it short and clear and not waste half a day trying to express my thoughts (in general and as a non-English speaker).

MUCH respect to all departments\professionals involved, especially the screenwriters (but then again i almost don't want to point out the writing 'cause it immediately feels unfair to all the other components that went into creating this) i am not Asian and kinda have no choice but to regret my ignorance once again for not knowing about this earlier (i don't mean the movie, but all the people that made it happen).

Thank you.

Perfect romance movie
eunaw22 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The moment Guy said, 'Choose me', I was so impressed by how the dialogue was perfectly written, I was not disappointed by a single thing, it's truly a perfect romance movie. The acting was flawless and so was the direction, I thought this would just be a blatant copy of 500 days of summer but the movie had such a satisfying spin of it's own. I liked the way it didn't just portray a love story between Guy and June but also gave us a look into their personal lives and personal growth. It was aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and the heart, one of my favourite romance movies. The inspiration taken from different romance films definitely worked and resulted in this beautiful film.

When it comes to love, this movie really awakens that feeling of regret for not confessing in time.

I used to be just like the male lead in the movie, or maybe even more ordinary. Most of the time during school days, it was just casual chats with a few buddies. I never thought about approaching the school beauty or my crush. The biggest flutter in my heart was for that girl I liked. I'd gaze at her from afar, wondering if luck would ever be on my side. Sitting in front or behind, we became able to exchange secret codes on each other's backs, like messages that only we could understand. Oh my, back then, spending time with her was the biggest reason for me to go to school...This romance movie, like many others, features a handsome guy and a beautiful girl as the main couple. The camera work and director's storytelling revolve around the dialogues between the protagonists. It didn't stray far from expectations, yet it somehow resonated with me, leaving me silently glued to the screen for quite a while.
