Something borrowed...
bookert16 January 2014
Finnish movies tend to borrow bad clichés from American comedies with bad results. So wasn't excited to begin with but this one actually managed to be even a little bit worse than I feared. It wasn't a total catastrophe from a directional standpoint, but the script didn't give much to work with and quite frankly comedy is far from directors comfort zone. Same can be said about the cast because the main actors lack credibility in their characters and laughing matters are very hard to find. Jokes are result from a crappy writing and the actors, dry as they are can't make any of the supposedly funny lines work. Oh, there is off course one exception which is supporting actor Sampo Sarkola. Sarkola plays prime ministers right hand Anders who shoots lame jokes around and is very creepy character all around and like in most Hollywood comedies, those kind of side characters tend to be best things in these kind of romantic comedies.
