. . . that's actually correct is that A DARK, DARK TALE qualifies as a "short." As in REALLY short. Clocking in at a mere 185 seconds, or slightly more than three and a half minutes, DARK, DARK TALE is about as brief as they get. As such, it's more a picture of 1883 than 1983. Furthermore, it is NOT an animated short, aka a cartoon. Nothing moves during DARK, DARK tale. A camera simply pans and scans across the pages of a children's book, which vastly reduces the need for animators. Most of the people involved with this project are NOT credited here. Kristine Holmes, minus the E & S, adapts the artwork, and Ian Thomson reads the 1981 Dial Press children's picture book, written and illustrated by Ruth Brown. Paul R. Gag-Knee is credited with the film adaptation.
