It garnered significant viewing in countries such as Lebanon and cut through in Europe, Asia and the U.S. There have been several remakes, including in India where SonyLIV ordered Tanaav, a Hindi remake.

Fauda creators Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff are attending the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) in Goa for the world premiere of the fourth season of the show. Since the first season started streaming on Netflix, the Israeli political thriller has built up a huge following in India, and also has a Hindi-language remake, produced by Applause Entertainment for local streamer SonyLiv.
“When Netflix first bought the show, we started to notice on social media that we were getting so many followers in India,” says Raz, speaking to Deadline on the sidelines of the festival. “We didn’t know what was happening, but we started to understand that we have a good relationship with the Indian audience.”
That relationship is something they want to take further as part of a push into producing international content through their Tel Aviv and Los Angeles-based Faraway Road Productions, which was recently acquired...

These would be in addition to “Tanaav,“ the Indian adaptation of “Fauda” by Applause Entertainment that is currently airing on Sony Liv.
The executives were in Goa on Sunday, attending the 53rd International Film Festival of India, for the Asian premiere of the first episode of season four “Fauda.” The show uploads to Netflix in January 2023.
“Our company is now looking for more and more international content, not Israeli, not necessarily American, but international content. We are already working on a kind of an Indian story, that we cannot talk about too much. We’re also looking for more content that will come out of this continent,” Issacharoff told Variety.

Actress Waluscha De Sousa, who started her career as a model and did a number of glamorous roles is seen playing the role of a Kashmiri villager in the web series ‘Tanaav’. She shared what prompted her to take up a project where she is depicted in an altogether distinct avatar.
She said: “I wanted to work in this series as I got to play a simple Kashmiri Muslim woman, a very different character from what I have done before. Everybody had a different perception about me that I don’t speak Hindi and I am an Nri whereas the truth is I’m born and brought up in Goa.”
On The Kapil Sharma Show, the actress is coming along with Arbaaz Khan, Manav Vij, Sumit Kaul, and director Sudhir Mishra to promote the socio-political series ‘Tanaav’ which is all about insurgents in Kashmir and their fight with Special Task Group (Stg).

Netflix is poised to unveil several of its series and two of its movies at the International Film Festival of India. The festival gets underway on Sunday and runs to Nov. 28.
Streaming platforms and film festivals can have uneasy relationships – due to its relationship with French cinemas, Cannes refuses to program Netflix films in premiere slots, and in India streamers were accused of taking advantage of pandemic conditions to license movies that could not access theaters – but increasingly they are finding common ground. Iffi will hold panel discussions after screening some of the Netflix content.
Monday will witness the global premiere of “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter,” a crime thriller series that Netflix describes as “pulpy.” Directed by Neeraj Pandey, it navigates the birth of a super cop and a super villain and their epic clash in Bihar. Panelists will include Shital Bhatia, Bhav Dhulia, Karan Tacker, Avinash Tiwary, Jatin Sarna,...

Actor Arryaman Seth, who plays a young Kashmiri, deeply affected by the socio-political shifts around him in the recently released streaming show ‘Tanaav’, shares that he didn’t eat anything for straight two days to lend authenticity to a particular scene in the show where his character was kept without food.
‘Tanaav’, is a remake of the hit Israeli show ‘Fauda’, and bases its physical setting in Kashmir.
Sharing the anecdote, the actor, who “didn’t even know how to work a gun”, says, “The physical aspects of the performance could all be learnt but what was key was nailing the psyche of the character. There was a key scene of mine where I got captured and am brutally tortured. It was a major scene in which they plant a bomb in my stomach and that sequence required a particular mood. This guy was kept without food and sleep, so...

Veteran Indian filmmaker Sudhir Mishra’s latest venture is “Tanaav,” the Indian adaptation of Israeli global hit “Fauda.” The series is transposed from Israel and Palestine to the troubled area that is Kashmir and tells the story of a Special Covert Ops Unit.
” ‘Fauda’ is about two countries, Israel and Palestine and it is about two religions. We didn’t want to do that. This is not about religion. This is not about Hindu versus Muslim. This is India versus, let’s say, terrorism or another kind of extreme ideology,” Mishra told Variety.
About the decision to set it in Kashmir, Mishra says that the series needed to be in a “disturbed zone” and that he’s been familiar with Kashmir for years and tried to move away from the cliched representation of the state and treated it in a “nuanced, interesting way.”
