Not horrible, but also not amazing
aliceisangry14 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Overall it's not a terrible movie, there were some major downfalls along with successes throughout. Keep in mind that this movie is based on a young adult trilogy and therefore there are quite a bit of clichés along with taboo topics utilized within the plot. I have not read this book series and am only basing my review on the film.

The film starts out with Noah and her mother moving in with their new family, in a huge mansion along the beach. Keep in mind that Noah is 17, and has a lot of past trauma from her father so she is not as welcoming to this new family as she is young with a lot of growing up to do. Some viewers might see her behavior as bratty, but to be fair she is a teenager that has been completely uprooted from her life that she grew comfortable within.

Nicholas is also young, 22 I think, and he is portrayed as this Casanova. Shortly into the film it is revealed that he is the leader of this gang that races cars, holds underground fights, and raging parties. While his trauma is never fully developed, it is suggested to be based around his mother who abandoned him when she divorced his father. Despite this, he has a loving brotherly relationship with his half sister who has diabetes.

The beginning of the film starts out at a great pace, with great development of the hateful relationship between the step siblings and the love between Nicholas' father and Noah's mother. As the film progresses there are large time gaps that are attempted to be filled by mere words revealed by one of the characters within a conversation. The film soon solely focuses on Noah and Nicholas with random scenes sprinkled in of other characters. The supporting characters soon feel lost in the film.

The main dilemma within this film stems from Noah's trauma caused by her father. While the viewer gets snippets of what happened throughout the film, there is still many essential pieces of information lost. I wonder if there will be a second film following the plot of the book trilogy that will reveal more about Noah's family's past as she copes with her father's death.

While there were issues with the plot and the depth of the character's backstories, the overall chemistry, which seems to be the main focus of the film, between Nicholas and Noah is portrayed well.

So if you like cliché young adult films with taboo themes, give this film a watch, I'm sure it won't dissapoint.

A Decent Rom-Com with Over-the-Top Action
aaravsengar27 June 2023
My Fault, the latest romantic comedy flick, offers a familiar and straightforward storyline accompanied by over-the-top action sequences. While the movie falls victim to a slow pace and lacks a unique twist, it still manages to provide decent entertainment for those seeking a lighthearted romantic comedy or simply looking for a fun way to pass the time.

One notable aspect that sets My Fault apart from traditional rom-coms is its inclusion of over-the-top action sequences. These unexpected bursts of excitement inject an element of thrill into an otherwise straightforward storyline.

However, one area where My Fault falls short is in its pacing. The movie struggles to maintain a consistent rhythm, occasionally feeling sluggish and dragging out certain scenes unnecessarily. The slow pacing dampen the overall enjoyment, leaving me wishing for a tighter and more dynamic progression of events.

In terms of production value, My Fault excels. The cinematography captures vibrant and visually appealing settings, enhancing the film's romantic atmosphere. The well-executed soundtrack complements the narrative, heightening emotional moments and adding to the overall appeal of the movie.

Ultimately, My Fault is a decent film that provides an entertaining escape for rom-com enthusiasts or those looking for a light-hearted and enjoyable viewing experience. While the basic storyline and occasionally slow pacing may deter some people like me, the inclusion of over-the-top action and the overall charm of the film make it a suitable choice for a time-pass movie night.

The storyline is far from realistic
ceilia-lucas18 July 2023
My fault is the newest Spanish teen-drama romance that feels like a mixture of Through my Window, Three Steps Above Heaven and Fast and Furious.

Noah is upset with her mother as she has to leave her boyfriend and friends and move in with her mother's new rich husband and his son Nick. Nick is a typical bad boy turns good boy, and their romance is a typical forbidden step-sibling relationship surrounded by gangsters, wannabes and rich kid problems.

The storyline is far from realistic, the dialogue is quite dull, but there is chemistry between the actors and it is entertaining enough. At least it was for me, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

[6.4] Bring the sequel on
cjonesas30 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A nice somewhat "sinful" movie with very good chemistry between the two cute, young & hot and beautiful leads, passionate and steamy, just ruined throughout by the too loud music and score, campy, cheesy and somewhat cliché situations and twists, a caricature of a villain, not fleshed out at all story-wise, let alone the "cabron" who undeservedly got the bright red Porsche.

Too many "hijo de puta" and "joder" as in many Spanish productions, nice car chase and driving, slow-motion, driving techniques and all, making all those toward a 6-7 rated movie, while the tender, very romantic, full of hot drama teens and young adults may enthusiastically rate it over 9.

At least, it was in many ways better than 'After...' series of movies.

Modern Spanish Fairytale
kremim28 June 2023
If you judge the film with the criteria for piece of life dramas, it is definitely lacking. Because it is made of fairy-tales stuff. It is Cinderella, moving from shambles to a palace, where she meets a benevolent king and a Prince Charming. It is about a girl, beating hard-core men at their own game - drift driving. It is about the bad boy with a golden heart. About Red Riding Hood, saved by Prince Charming and the Hunter from the Big Bad Wolf. And most of all, about romantic love. The film is made fairly competently, it is dynamic and there wasn't a dull moment. The lead actors wouldn't be remembered for subtlety and nuance, but they are definitely good-looking and have a palpable chemistry. Don't judge and expect too much and you can actually enjoy it.

Hot movie with a good story
priyankvashiar10 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Great start to a story with hot portrayal of female lead. The chemistry between the step brother and sister is really well portrayed in the movie with random characters showing accurate emotions to support the storyline. But the movie seems like to be directed in a dystopian world where rich kids are racing cars and fighting like kids in the movie. The parents are concerned about the situation and portrays it well but still it feels like everyone is just playing their part and not acting how the parents who are concerned about their children. Overall, it's a worthwhile use of time to watch this pass with several twists and turns. Do watch the movie if you have spare time.

WHAT TF DID I JUST WATCH?!?
elena-8035416 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
If "step bro I'm stuck" met "I'm not like other girls". Male Mc is high key abusive towards her but it's ok because he had a traumatic past/s. The female MC is intelligent (again she's not like other girls) and supposed to be this powerful #feminist girl while also constantly being the damsel in distress that needs to be saved by the male MC (both the "I'm not like other girls" and the damsel is said by the characters themselves, at least the movie is somewhat self aware). Also let's not even talk about the age gap between them (spoiler: she's not even legal and he's 22)... The movie ends with the parents saying that they want to end the relationship between the two step siblings. We, the audience, is ofc supposed to believe that that's a bad thing? Oh and the movie is also about racing ig (not really). Overall the movie feels like a worse and incestuous versions of fast & furious Tokyo drift.

Thoroughly enjoyed!
Nicolerogers8414 June 2023
As with a lot of romanced based on book adaptations at times the dialogue was cringy and some scenes were entirely unrealistic or moved a bit fast but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! The two leads have great chemistry together and definitely kept my attention! If you're a fan of After this would be right up your alley. I think the story is a bit tidier than the After franchise is as well... not as much unnecessary back and forth fighting. I was more invested than I was in the After movies as well. I feel if you like this genre it's definitely worth a watch and doesn't deserve the negative reviews it's received.

Guiltiest of pleasures
jfgibson732 September 2023
Watching this movie felt like I had just randomly grabbed a new release from the romance section and started reading. The opening scenes set up nothing but cliched tropes with what seemed to be stock characters and overdone situations. Except that this story ended up being really entertaining anyway. Noah and Nick act like characters that are written instead of real teens, until they suddenly don't. I actually kind of believed that they had reasons they would end up liking each other. Instead of groaning about how they were just thrown together for the sake of the plot, I ended up caring about their relationship working out. I didn't want anything bad to happen to them, and I wasn't counting the minutes until they were off the screen. Now, the third act climax deflated much of that feeling when we get a standard action movie finale, but once it all wraps up, I was back to wanting to see the couple succeed. I don't think I would even mind a sequel, which they seemed to be planning based on the last lines of the film. I am sure that there will be a lot of people who will watch this movie who won't get caught up in the story like I allowed myself to--some viewers will just focus on the flaws, which would be easy to do. But for anyone just looking for lighter-than-air entertainment, you might have the right mindset for this one.

What in the heck did I just hate watch
daphne-228-53439429 June 2023
I watched this because it came up on my Amazon prime as a movie I would like. I thought it was a horror movie and I was watching it in the background as I was messing with my phone. It was not a horror movie, but much to my horror It was a weird teenage erotic thriller. I have to laugh when I write that. This movie had like 15 plots. It was all over the place. It wanted to be fight club and it wanted to be the fast and the furious and then it wanted to be some like family drama. The girl looks like kristen stewart. I feel like I will go to jail for watching this. My favorite quote was "you are my stepsister and you're 17" 😂

This film is totally my jam, I loved it!
cgvsluis13 June 2023
Culpa Mía, reminded me a bit of Through My Window (A través de mi ventana)...but with street racing, illegal fights, and a violent backstory...and I loved it! It's based on a Wattpad novel by Mercedes Ron, which after two back to back watching a of the film I went to order from Amazon (can't wait to read the book(s)).

The film has both a sexy hate to love story and action in the form of both street racing and underground fighting. It is fast-paced and beautiful filmed...leaving no trace me for boredom.

The story is about 17 year old Noah, who is brought by her newly wed mother Rafaella to live in her new stepfather's mega-mansion on the coast. There she must live with an older stepbrother named Nick. Nick's father William thinks he is this perfect golden boy, but Noah discovers that the true reality is that he is a smoking, partying, street racing, underground fighting bad boy, whose life gets Noah in trouble.

What Nick doesn't know is that his angsty beautiful new stepsister has a troubled past and a few secrets of her own.

These two clash in an epic passionate way and it was an enjoyable ride to watch. I highly recommend this to fans of romance, particularly dark romance...and I think action fans might enjoy this film as well. In fact it might just be the perfect date night film as it has a little something for everyone!

Beautiful sets, great costumes and a marvelous soundtrack too!

There's a lot going on.
tabruss26 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay. Don't get me wrong, this movie was entertaining. There are just so many things happening. Like, we've got the "starting a new life from rags to riches" plotline, but then we've got the forbidden love plotline, the traumatic past plotline, but then there's also car racing and underground fighting... maybe it just didn't seem cohesive because it was dubbed? To be honest, I'll probably watch it again, but in Spanish if I can find it. One thing that bothered me is that it's not only glorifying the step-sibling relationship but also the fact that she's underage throughout the entire movie. And it just feels a little weird to me. I read this was adapted from a book? So maybe I'll read the book. Overall, it kept me occupied.

I'm surprised ... and not in a good way
raulmajadas-113 June 2023
I really don't get the love this movie is receiving from so many viewers. It's so terribly dull. There might be something interesting in the chemistry between the main couple and some scenes are hotter than those we see in a usual movie of the week. But everything else just doesn' work and the movie doesn't trust its main plot, adding up some seriously uninteresting and unconvincing stuff. The constant intervention of the annoying score. The attempt to emulate "Fast and Furious"-like action. The absolute cheesiness of the mystery... Anyway, each own with their likes and dislikes, but I really felt deceived by some of the reviews. I think we might have seen different movies.

RELAX. What do you even expect?
krokodilko8 September 2023
It really isn't that bad, especially if you're trying to relax after a long day. Just by reading the decription you get a hint what kind of movie it is.

I didn't expect some extraordinary plot, dialogue or characters. I knew it would be cheesy and cirnge and that is exactly what I needed in that moment.

It's not a masterpiece and I'm glad it isn't. This movie is my 'culpa mia' :D just like watching After.

I mean, this movie screams 'red flag' but it is just too unrealistic and I can't even identify myself with it, so I just watch it and daydream.

Put all expectations aside and enjoy in this teen love drama.

Pretty cliché romcom, but still enjoyable.
johannes2000-128 June 2023
Sure, I watched the whole thing out and I was even reasonably entertained - how could I not, it's the quintessential romcom where two attractive leads fall head over heals in love, and after some hardship find eternal bliss - the end.

But it's also extremely cliché: arrogant girl and obnoxious bad boy are thrown together, only to find that they both actually have hearts of gold and a woeful, all-explaining past. And the whole thing is obviously meant for a public of teens and young adults that revel in driving Porches, wild pool-parties, boozing, and (in this case) illegal streetcar racing and (even more farfetched) fighting clubs. The latter two were probably added by the makers to also please the boyfriends of the girls that are supposed to swoon over the lovestory and the romantic making-out scenes.

The traumatized background of Noah may be interesting in itself, but when her father appears in the last part of the movie as a vengeful murderous ex-convict intent to kill his daughter and ex-wife, it all goes totally over the top. The only thing that makes the end remotely rewarding is the car-racing along the boulevards and marina-boardwalks of this Spanish tourist city.

Being a boring adult I'm definitely not the one that this movie is aimed at, so why did I even bother? Well, sometimes it's nice to go with the easy flow, however cliché it might be. I'm only human.

Watch your Step ... Bro
kosmasp27 April 2024
No pun intended - I guess with more families being ... or rather coming together (not in that sense, get your mind out of the gutter ... well mostly not like that), it was only a matter of time that movies would pick up on something like that. And apart from the legal point being "clear" ... there still is the fact that it feels wrong.

And the movie plays on that notion ... and teases us ... multiple times! It almost happens ... and then almost happens again ... and again. There is a saying, whatever loves each other has also to nag each other. It's a German saying - not sure if it exists in Spanish or English (or any other language for that matter). I only know that the big bad (strong) guy needs to be tamed by our sensitive girl ... both beautiful of course ... we couldn't have it any other way. Be aware what you let yourself into ... and act accordingly ... of course this is predictable ... still the ending was ... quite interesting to say the least.

Super Cringe
fausteb28 June 2023
The whole movie is chaos. Everything is happening super fast: here they are kissing, here they are already driving, here everyone is already fighting.

This movie has all the clichés and a lot of awkward, cringe moments. Everything has been seen, nothing new has been shown.

By the way, the dog in the movie looked so unrealistic...

Dialogues are incomplete and empty, and nothing important is said through them. It looked like a mash-up of five romantic movie plots.

Probably the worst movie of this year. Maybe if I were a twelve-year-old teenager, I would like it. No offense. I do not recommend it, meh.

Best contemporary romance movie based on a book!!
Iwona240315 June 2023
I cannot even tell you how much did I enjoy this movie!! Like really really really enjoyed it!

It's the best new age romantic movie based on a book! Everything is just like you picture it when you read. So good! Their chemistry, their story, jealousy...Intimacy. Everything! Actors were chosen perfectly.

Absolutely love this one!! Thank you guys for finally making the right movie... After all these cheap versions of our lovely books (After,Beautiful disaster,50 shades etc) this one finally deserves a star! I am not fan of the ending.. The way they , let's say, "solved" the problem with her father,... it was very unrealistic ... but the rest of it was just perfect!! Please you guys make a sequel asap!! We need this !!! LOVE , maximum love to this movie!!

A typical love story why it is so loved?
ritiksinghal-3211026 April 2024
My friend recommended this movie and hyped it up like it is the next coming of god but it is bang average just cliche romance where the girls first hates the main lead but slowly and surely falls in love what is new in this just because the actors look good? The best part about the movie was the villain at the last but he was given such a short screen time the movie was bang average yes the songs were good apart from that nothing much is interesting in the movie you can watch it it will not bore you but.....

FAVOURITE CHARACTER :: dad (heavily under-utilised) FAVOURITE MOMENT :: last chase sequence.

My Fault? More like My Headache!
natmavila19 August 2023
Oh boy, where do I even begin with "My Fault" (2023)? I'd give it zero stars if I could, but I guess half a star is as close as I can get to expressing how mind-numbingly painful this cinematic train wreck was. So, Noah has to leave her town, boyfriend, and friends to shack up in her mother's new husband's mansion. Sounds like the setup for a thrilling drama, right? Wrong.

From the moment Noah and her new stepbrother Nick lock eyes, it's like watching two cats hissing at each other. Their "forbidden relationship" is less Romeo and Juliet and more like a cheesy soap opera plot gone horribly wrong. Their rebellious tempers are more like temper tantrums, and I couldn't decide who I wanted to slap more. Their love story turned their worlds upside down, alright - and my world, too, because I wasted precious hours of my life on this mess. If you're into cringe-worthy, headache-inducing films, "My Fault" is your ticket to cinematic torment.

After a longtime there is love story
rangsonu12 June 2023
Just wow, the romance, scenes and pace of movie is incredible, I watched it two times in two days and will definitely going to watch again and again. The leads are so awesome and perfectly casted. Every character and their back stories are so well connected to their personalities and that creates the whole beautiful romantic drama. Must watch.

The main hero is so handsome and his dad too. The lead heroine and her mom is too pretty. Even parents romance and connection is so beautiful, you feel like this whole thing is going around you and you slowly starting to love all characters. They all are well casted. Thanks for beautiful movie and desparately waiting for next part.

Whose Fault is it for this Stinker?
lavatch19 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It is shocking to think that "My Fault" (Culpa Mia) would be a featured film on Amazon Prime. While such literary giants as Jane Austen, Shakespeare, and Lorca are mentioned in the film, the audience is treated to nothing but trash.

The main plot is that of a young man named Nick who falls in love with his 17-year-old stepsister named Noah! The setting is that of a fantasy island-like paradise where young Noah is instantly repelled, then inexplicably madly in love with her stepbrother Nick. All the while, Noah's mother is asking questions to her new millionaire husband like, "What dress should I wear tonight?"

Most of the film unfolds as a comedy with the whirlwind romance backed up by dare-devil auto races, madcap parties, fist fighting, and people being thrown into swimming pools. Then, suddenly, the tone shifts when Noah's deranged father is let out of prison and makes a bee-line to kill his own daughter!

Literally, nothing was credible in the film, including the preposterous situations and relationships. Whose fault is it, anyway, for this atrocious film?

Why?
ghadakiynemli17 July 2023
How on earth is this movie not rated 1? It's filled with cliches, giving you a feeling of daydreaming, and about 80% of it makes absolutely no sense. And let's not even start with the 7 plots; it feels like it's trying too hard. The acting is just terrible, but can you really blame the actors? The script is painfully cringeworthy. I struggled so much to continue watching; I had to take breaks every 30 minutes just to absorb all the cringiness. The only reason I endured it was because I'm learning Spanish, so at least I didn't feel like I completely wasted my time. However, you definitely will if you watch it! Even the CGI is awful, but honestly, that hardly matters when everything else is such a mess.

I'm sorry but how did they think that it is worth filming in the first place?

This movie is by far the best adaptation from a book. I have to admit that I was a little nervous of watching this movie due to how disappointing was watching "after" and "beautiful Disaster". Who ever brought this to live deserves ovation for the amazing job done.

The actors did above and beyond!! The chemistry was there, they brought to the screen the same feeling the books did, I am amazed by this movie, i just finished and feel like I want to watch it again.

Go watch it, I promise you that you won't be disappointed, not even if you are fan of the books since the story is ALMOST 100% identical.
