I was convinced to watch this movie by the high ratings on here. I'm not sure who the people are who found the movie to be so enthralling, because I found the movie to be totally cringe-worthy. The two main characters aren't very likeable or convincing. They are not very good actors. The movie starts out with the couple talking to the camera - or at least to webcams as they stream themselves sitting in their living room. It's awkward. I definitely don't recommend paying to view this movie - at the very least wait until the movie shows up for free on one of your streaming services. Even then, I recommend taking a pass.

I swear Ashton Kutcher must be waiting to pop out because we're being Punk'd, right? This movie is so very bad. Holy cow, how did this even get made? And hellooo? Who the heck posted all these great reviews? People who worked on the film? I thought this was going to be a fun whodunnit....pffft, not in this universe. Yes, we are told someone was murdered. That's about the extent of it. The writing is atrocious as is the acting. The characters are unlikeable and have zero chemistry. Even the neighbors are terrible. The main couple just drink & get high during the entire movie. No wonder they can't get jobs. My recommendation is to SKIP this mess.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WATCHING THIS MOVIE. It is SO bad. My husband and I saw it had decent reviews, so we rented it, and our jaws were dropping at how terrible the acting was. I couldn't help me crack up laughing at how bad it was. We seriously thought it was intentionally bad acting for humor's sake, but we quickly realized it was, in fact, not a joke. I am so confused how this got produced. We were hoping that the neighbors would be better actors, but surprise surprise, just as terrible. We ended up skipping to the end just to see who did it and even that was a terrible story line. I have never left a bad review in my life, but this was just utterly horrible that I had to for the good of humanity.

So imagine that you and your neighbors are in an acting class... for fun, and you all decide to make a movie... for fun. That's what this seemed like to me. The acting is pretty bad. All of it. I don't think they're was one good actor in the entire movie. Which is usually the fault of the director. A good director can get a decent performance out of a halfway decent actor. It is possible that these actors are just terrible though. I kept waiting for it to get interesting but it never did. It was just a disappointment. Good movies are few and far between these days. This ain't one of em. Find something else.
Watch it if you want to laugh...at how stupid you are to rent it

We were going to rent One Life with Anthony Hopkins but it was available, so I googled the next best thing which turned out to be this movie because of IMDB's score of 8.2 (which actually dropped to 8.1 by the end of this movie). My grandma could make a better and she doesn't even speak English. I will say all the actors tried their best and I hope they can find work after this movie. If it was 25 cents but paying the same amount I paid for renting Shawshank Redemption...I want my movie back. Or at least an autograph from Lana. The only highlight in this movie was the couch and whoever sat through this.

This movie offered an interesting contemporary format, very clever. The story did a good job demonstrating real life dynamics between neighbors using humorous scenarios to build the story. The length of the movie was perfect and kept me guessing until the very end. I would definitely recommend this movie for a party with friends! Lots of laughs and interesting characters in the show that do resemble real life. I would like to see a sequel to this in the near future. Perhaps this could be the start of a limited series keying off of other topics effecting this group of people. There were so many interesting facts about each character to draw upon!

Please do not pay to watch this. Currently need to rent (Jan 2024). This is like a low budget, bad acting movie. It is incredibly slow moving and boring.
Per the description the main couple has other tenants of the building over to find clues about a murdered neighbor. Each interaction is unrealistic and over the top. Just the fact that there is not a single moment in this movie that is funny or even dramatic - not entertaining. Even at the end when they are attempting suspense, it doesn't really work. Honestly it just gets awkward and cringy.
If this was a live play - the over the top characters, narrative - basically one set - sure. But with so much content to stream and so many amazing movies, don't waste your time.

I just watched Murder and Cocktails and it was awesome. I can't give away the ending because it's a mystery who-done-it, and I was double shocked at the end. Well done everyone. Very well written and directed. I love the pace of it. Special shout out to Jessicah Neufeld and Jason Bernardo for their talent and charisma. I want this couple back for a few sequels. The casting was strong all around, however, I must hand out OMG's awards both to Lucy Boryer, and Mark Sears for brining your characters to life and splitting my sides. I highly recommend this film, even if mystery isn't your thing. There's a lot of comedy, twists and tender moments.

I wasted my $3.99 on this TERRIBLE TERRIBLE movie . Can't believe IMBD giving it 9.5! The worst movie I ever saw in my life!
The script was terrible, no one could act, it was sooo slow! The suspense was useless, killer was clear in the beginning. I just feel cheated by IMBD rating that led me to rent this movie on YouTube. They could have finished the whole "story" in 20 mins which was stretched to 1.28 hour. A podcast of a bear in hibernation would be more interesting than this. Somehow I was waiting that the bear would stir and something would happen, Alas! I was wrong. That's 1.28 hours of my life I am not getting back.

When I went into this movie, this film only had high praise and, once I jumped into it, I found that it was just slightly underwhelming, with the laughably bad credits screen and the weird audio issues.
However, the movie was far from those criticisms with some rather interesting acting and some unique decisions that made the film very enjoyable.
Would I recommend this to someone who has never seen a murder mystery? Absolutely not, but the film is still a rather fun ride featuring things I have personally never seen a movie of its sort discuss.
Overall, it was a fun time and, for a four dollar movie, it was worth it.

This is a low budget gem of a movie. For those who like Agatha Christie type who dunnits or long for the witty reparté of 1940's screwball comedies like His Girl Friday this film is for you. It has a catchy score and a breakout performance from Jessica Neufeld. This movie is fun and clever with a solid supporting cast. Every dinner guest / suspect is a wild character and the identity of the killer will keep you guessing to the very end. Haven't you ever wanted to get drunk and high with your significant other and solve a murder mystery from the comfort of your own apartment? Well now's your chance!

I recently watched this movie, which I found to be extremely enjoyable. The film had a good blend of humor, excellent music, and great acting. Considering the budget, the quality of the movie was impressive. I highly recommend it to everyone. The movie is not too far-fetched in today's lifestyle and is a must-watch film. I loved Jessicah Neufeld and Jason Bernardo's charisma. They brought the characters to life. Their fun personal qualities can attract, influence, and inspire people. I want to live in a building such as Nick and Lana's. The scenery was beautiful. Long story short, it is a great, fun-filled film.

This is a fun movie and definitely worth the watch. Yes, it is low budget like has been mentioned in other reviews but the acting is good. I'm not sure what some of the other reviews are talking about. The characters are caricatures of certain personality types, which I find to be enjoyable social commentary. The main characters/actors have great chemistry. The dopey cop is a nice touch. The story is light and well paced to follow. The story is easy to follow. The main characters are realistic and the supporting cast are a hoot. The mystery keeps you guessing. I would watch Murders and Cocktails again!

Fun Fresh and Entertaining

I love a good whodunnit and this didn't disappoint. It felt like a old throwback kinda vibe but with some fresh perspectives and a funny set up that allows the main character to relate to the audience. Probably not the biggest budget and no big names, but the acting is great and the writing is fun. Jason Bernardo and Jessica Neufeld do a stellar job of making their relationship believable and very sweet. Both have some genuine funny moments. The neighbors that all come by have some quirk to them and all add a great vignette to the story. Murder and Cocktails made me laugh and held my attention. I wasn't expecting too much, but It far outdid my expectations. Give it a watch!
