Peripherie (2022)
The Peripheral & A League of Their Own Cancelled at Prime video, Reversing Season 2 Renewals
Peripherie (2022)
Despite doing well in its first season, Prime Video has sadly reversed its renewal of The Peripheral.

The change of heart likely stemmed from the dual strikes occurring across the industry.

The series starred Chloë Grace Moretz as Flynne Fischer, a woman who discovered a secret connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own.

What is one of the first of likely many strike-related cancellations, The Peripheral seemed to fare well on the streamer.

Each week, Twitter would be abuzz with theories and praise for the show, especially for the performances from Moretz and one of the lead antagonists, played by T'Nia Miller.

With the WGA on strike for over 100 days and SAG-AFTRA on strike for over a month, we expect there to be many similar cases of reversals when it comes to renewed series that hadn't already begun production.

There are still...

The pair will take to the stage for a special performance with the boyband on tonight's (May 29) episode of A League Of Their Own.

When the boys start discussing what is on their bucket lists, Whitehall admits that he's always wanted the chance to perform with the '90s boyband, prompting a special visit from remaining members Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, and Scott Robinson.

5ive were the subject of a particularly inventive April Fool's Day joke this year, when it was reported that they were joining forces with Blue to form supergroup Flue.

The boyband quickly dashed fans' hopes by confirming it was just a prank, but they didn't seem against the idea of performing with Blue in the future.

A League of Their Own: 10 things we found out from the stars
A League of Their Own is looking like a rather healthy panel show. The Sky1 sports palaver has wormed its way well and truly into viewers' hearts, and it's now back for another series with James Corden, Jack Whitehall, Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp.

We sat down with the guys to find out what we can expect from the new series, whether James is quitting for the Us, and whether we'll see Neil Ruddock in pants again (what do you think?) Read on for all the gossip...

1. They're all happy to be back.

"This is the series I've enjoyed the most," James said. "I just think the shows we've done have been really good. I said to my wife the other day, 'I'm enjoying this so much it shouldn't be allowed to be called work'. That's the absolute truth. I think we've done some really fun things and good guests.

James Corden will never quit 'A League of Their Own'. Jack Whitehall says goodbye to BBC Three and (maybe) Bad Education
"From the age of 17 to 18, I should've just accepted that I didn't have a beard and would have to wait. I had horrible, pubey bum-fluff on my face for two years and it looked awful."

Jack Whitehall knows the pain of regret all too well from his own school days, which is perhaps why the actor, writer and comic is reticent to draw a line under Bad Education - despite all the early buzz suggesting that the BBC Three sitcom's third series will be its last.

"When we set out to write it, it was supposed to be the last one," he admits. "But I don't want to completely rule it out. It is left a little bit open.

"One never wants to say never, but if it ended after this series, there'd be a degree of closure and you wouldn't be unfulfilled."

One thing's for certain - this new...

A League of Their Own: Burning questions for the stars
A League of Their Own is back tonight (August 29) and we're looking forward to seeing our favourite sports stars doing ridiculous things again - hooray! As well as making the frankly ridiculous decision to take on one of the endgames - we're not going to go into it, we're still cringing (and a little bit in pain) - we got the guys together for a bit of a chat, and found out what they had to say about some burning questions we have...

5 Hilarious Vids of Craig Ferguson Replacement James Corden
Ye
English entertainer James Corden is poised to replace Craig Ferguson on CBS' "Late Late Show," and that begs the question: Who? Corden is an actor, comic, writer, and presenter who first experienced great success with his British series "Gavin & Stacey," but he's since found international acclaim in other venues. He's amiable, informed, and approachable-seeming, and in that way his appeal is not much different than Ferguson's. But still, he has some specific areas of talent that are new and fascinating. Here are five of Corden's most appealing characteristics.  1. He can rap. Here is on the British game show "A League of Their Own" throwing down with impressive speed. That line about the long jump is also hilarious. 2. He has Broadway chops. Corden won the Tony for Best Actor in a Play in "One Man, Two Guvnors," a zany Commedia dell'arte play with plenty of runaround antics. Here's just some of his vaudevillian antics.

A League of Their Own gets 24-themed advert - pictures
The cast of A League of Their Own featured in a 24-themed TV spot tonight (July 16).

James Corden, Freddie Flintoff, Jack Whitehall and Jamie Redknapp appeared in the advert, based on the Fox/Sky1 drama which aired its Live Another Day series finale at 9pm.

All the hallmark features of the drama were in evidence: the Aloto logo could be seen in the style of 24, the famous clock ticked on ominously and the advert also got the split screen treatment.

Adam MacDonald, director of Sky1, said: "What better way to celebrate the end of the brilliant 24: Live Another Day than by merging two of our leading shows together for a first look at the return of the BAFTA-winning A League of Their Own."

A League of Their Own was recently renewed for three more series by Sky.

The sporting panel show, which will air its eighth series in the summer,...

BAFTA TV Awards 2014: Who's going to triumph? - live blog
Okay, so we might not be wearing our gladrags and we might not be sipping champagne, but who says a onesie and a takeaway can't be glamorous?

It's BAFTA night, and while we're not at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane with all the best and brightest from the last year of television, at least we can join the party from our sofas. Yep, we'll be blogging along with the awards - which start at 8pm on BBC One - so grab your slippers and a cuppa and join in by tweeting @digitalspy and leaving your comments below...

And as a reminder, the awards actually start in "real life" at 7pm - but we'll be doggedly going along with the television broadcast and pretending we're not an hour behind everyone else, so there's no fear of spoilers. If you want things as they happen, we'll be updating our winners' list here.

A League of Their Own renewed for three more series by Sky
A League of Their Own has been renewed for three more series by Sky1.

The sporting panel show, which will air its eighth series in the summer, is now secure until 2017 thanks to the deal.

Sky1's director Adam MacDonald said: "A League of Their Own's energetic blend of sport and big, hearty laughter has grown to become one of Sky1's strongest returning series. Its popularity with Sky customers is a thing to treasure, and I'm delighted we have agreed a three-year deal to continue that success story."

A League of Their Own features James Corden as host, Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp as team captains and Jack Whitehall as a permanent panellist.

The deal means that following the eighth series this summer, a ninth run will air in 2015, a tenth in 2016 and an eleventh in 2017. Each series will include eight episodes along with two Unseen instalments.

Freddie Flintoff: 'We could do 25 more series of League of Their Own'
Freddie Flintoff has revealed that he would love to continue filming A League of Their Own for many series to come.

The cricketer - who is currently appearing in Sky1's Flintoff's Road to Nowhere - told Digital Spy that he has finished filming series eight of the panel show.

"I think we've got another 25 in us!" he joked. "I think it's like anything - I think the public decide, don't they? If people watch it, then it'll carry on, if they don't, then it won't - so hopefully people will keep watching it and we can keep doing it."

Flintoff admitted that he wasn't sure what to think of the show when it started, explaining: "Especially me and Jamie, the sportsmen, we were a bit unsure about it and a bit unsure about ourselves and what we'd have to do. We never dreamt that we'd be in series eight - we thought,...

Freddie Flintoff is known for many things. Cricket. Boxing. A League of Their Own. But environmentalism? Yep, not so much. And they had time for a few adventures along the way, of course! Read on to find out what Freddie had to say about training for the challenge, his bromance with Rob and why he could become a teacher...

Freddie on... his 9-year-old daughter pushing him to take on the challenge

This Week's Must-See TV: 5 Shows You Shouldn't Miss
Want to make sure you don't miss anything great on the telly in the next seven days? Never fear, because Tube Talk has done all the hard work for you and smushed all of this week's must-see TV into one snappy rundown. Check out what you should be checking out below...

Backchat with Jack Whitehall and His Dad: Wednesday (November 20) at 10pm on BBC Three

It seems we can't get away from Jack Whitehall nowadays. If it's not Bad Education that's lighting up the box, it's Fresh Meat or A League of Their Own. Now he's called for reinforcements in the shape of his father as he continues his bid to take over the world.

Backchat plays on the awkwardness that arises when Jack unleashes his anarchic posh boy routine around his dry and disapproving dad Michael, while the celebrity guests (Jeremy Paxman and Danny Dyer this week!) presumably look on in bemusement.

James Corden: why the TV star and Tony winner still can't trust success
James Corden has had his setbacks, but not recently. He is on a roll with a new film and a television series he has co-written. Yet while the critics love him, he can't help but doubt himself. Carole Cadwalladr meets the hardest working man in show business

It amazes me that despite appearing in one of the biggest theatrical hits of recent years, One Man, Two Guvnors, a show that was loved by critics and adored by audiences, that was a triumph in the West End before becoming even bigger on Broadway, James Corden still worries about what people think of him. Despite winning a Tony (beating Philip Seymour Hoffman), and being cast as the lead in a big-budget film by the man who directed The Devil Wears Prada, and winning the leading role in an even bigger-budget Hollywood musical starring the one and only Meryl Streep, despite getting married and having a son,...

The One Direction star and the comedian reenact a 'kiss cam' moment on the Sky1 comedy quizshow A League Of Their Own. Watch below:

Styles's bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan also feature in the episode, which is due to air on Friday (August 30).

All three members of One Direction take part in a game of Popstar Penalties, which sees each of the singers take their turn in goal, while Blue's Simon Webbe, Simon Cowell's ex-girlfriend Sinitta and Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley take a penalty against them.

Styles recently joked that he "had words" with his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift backstage at the MTV VMAs.

Swift caused controversy at the awards when a video showing her apparently saying "shut the f**k up" when One Direction were speaking went viral.

Harry Styles Kisses British TV Host James Corden!
James Corden
James Corden is getting a lot of attention from One Direction lately. But not exactly the type of attention you might expect. Although Harry Styles denied bisexual rumors in an interview with British GQ, he wasn't afraid to give the British comedian a smooch for the cameras during an appearance on A League of Their Own. Earlier this month, his friendship with U.K. TV and radio host Nick Grimshaw was questioned. "We're not dating, no. We're just friends," he said, adding "Bisexual? Me? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I'm not." Fellow bandmate Niall Horan also showed some attention to the English talk-show host. However, he opted...

One Direction's Harry Styles kisses James Corden - pictures
Harry Styles and James Corden have kissed during an episode of A League Of Their Own.

The 19-year-old One Direction star and the comedian reenact a 'kiss cam' moment on the Sky1 comedy quizshow, reminiscent of the type seen at many Us sporting events.

In the episode, Styles is seen to get up from the desk and sit on Corden's knee. When the camera cuts to the pair, they share a kiss.

Styles's bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan also feature in the episode, which is due to air on August 30.

All three members of One Direction take part in a game of Popstar Penalties, which sees each of the singers take their turn in goal, while Blue's Simon Webbe, Simon Cowell's ex-girlfriend Sinitta and Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley take a penalty against them.

Styles also takes part in a game in which he must try and score basketball hoops.

One Direction’s Niall Horan Moons A Whole Bunch Of People
It’s a good day to be One Direction fan. Not one to let a cheeky stunt pass him by, 1D’s Niall Horan pulled quite the Nsfw prank on the British comedy show A League of Their Own this week when he pulled down his pants to moon the crowd, showing off a (thankfully temporary) tattoo of host James Corden‘s face....Read more»...
