Exclusive: Fox is going back to the John De Mol well.
The network has ordered Quiz With Balls, which comes from the Big Brother and The Voice creator’s Talpa Studios and Fremantle’s Eureka Productions.
It marks the latest De Mol project with Fox; he and Eureka are also behind The Floor, the Rob Lowe-hosted game show that launched in early January.
Quiz with Balls pits brains against balls combining a high-stakes quiz show with a large-scale physical competition. Each episode features two families competing for $100,000 in a “battle of the balls”.
Standing on a high platform over a pool, they must all work together as they face a multiple-choice quiz where each answer is allocated to a spot with a giant ball positioned way up behind it. If the correct answer is chosen, the ball rolls down and stops just before colliding with the player. If there’s a wrong answer,...

This story about “The Traitors” first appeared in the Limited Series/Movies issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
As a competition series mixing physical challenges, psychological warfare and reality TV star power, “The Traitors” gave Peacock one of its first watercooler shows.
Based on a Dutch format and produced by Studio Lambert (“The Circle”), the show is set in a castle in Scotland and featured 20 players in its first season, made up of reality television personalities like “Big Brother 22: All Stars” winner Cody Calafiore and “Below Deck” star Kate Chastain,” along with regular folks. The players, who are known as “Faithfuls,” work together to grow the collective prize pool of up to $250,000.
But among them are three covert “Traitors” selected by host Alan Cumming who decide to “murder” a Faithful each night — after those Faithfuls have kicked out a player in the hopes of flushing out the Traitors. It’s Mafia meets “Big Brother,...

This story about “The Mole” first appeared in the Limited Series/Movies issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
There’s a moment in Episode 2 of Netflix’s “The Mole,” titled “Take No Prisoners,” where cable news host Alex Wagner comes into her own as a reality series emcee. Locking her cast of competitors in two separate sectors of a warehouse, she sets the stage for a game that pits the two groups against each other. They have to decide between sitting tight for 45 minutes and winning some cash or pushing a big, red nuke-launcher of a button to get immunity from elimination.

It’s last call for a number of films and TV shows leaving Netflix in June. Director Frank Darabont’s underrated Stephen King adaptation “The Mist” exits on June 21, while the end of the month brings the exits of “Jerry Maguire,” “Puss in Boots,” “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” a pair of “Resident Evil” movies and Brad Pitt’s pretty-ok zombie actioner “World War Z.”
Also departing on June 30 is the first two seasons of “Chappelle’s Show.”
All-in-all, however, it’s not a robust list so rest easy knowing an exodus isn’t coming to Netflix. This month at least.

The Elephant Whisperers producer Guneet Monga says ‘India’s moment was taken away from me’ at Oscars
The Elephant Whisperers producer Guneet Monga has opened up about being cut off before she could deliver her Oscars acceptance speech.
The 39-year-old producer, who won the Academy Award in the Best Documentary Short film category, was upset by the moment that also caused uproar among film fans.
Footage of the incident showed Monga holding an Oscar and waiting for director Kartiki Gonsalves to end her speech. However, as she approached the mic, the exit music began playing and both women were escorted off-stage.
The moment also caused controversy among fans, with many pointing out that Matthew Freud and Charlie Mackesy, who accepted The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’s win for Best Animated Short, were given ample time to make their speeches after The Elephant Whisperers.
“There was a shock on my face,” Monga has now told Bombay Times.

A24 dominated the 95th annual Oscars with nine wins, almost twice as many as the next distributor, Netflix (five). The massive haul for A24, including sweeping the top six categories, left little room for competitors, with only six other companies scoring victories tonight, and only two of them, Netflix and Disney, getting multiple Oscars at the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

London-based PR maven Matthew Freud, joined by fellow Brit and collaborator Charlie Mackesy, offered his apologies for winning the Oscar for Short Film (Animated) for The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse.
“I’ve never made a film before, so this is bewildering,” Freud said in accepting the trophy. “I know the protocol is to say ‘thank you’ a lot, but I’m British, so I’m more comfortable saying ‘sorry.’ So, I’m really sorry to all the people who should be on this stage with us,” alluding to the large crew and voice cast who teamed up for two years during Covid to make the film. Freud closed by quipping that he was “also really sorry to my children, my girlfriend and my colleagues at [PR firm] Freuds for basically being absent over the last two years.”
The Boy came into Oscar night as a heavy favorite in the category.

Unlike Love is Blind, Netflix’s latest dating reality tv show focuses more on strategy than finding love. The cast of Perfect Match consists of reality stars from various Netflix shows who hook up and fiercely compete to become the most compatible couple in the house.
This binge-worthy competition is cutthroat. The cast of fan favorites doesn’t hold back from ripping other couples apart to get ahead.
‘Perfect Match’ couples solidify their match by bunking up together
Hosted by Nick Lachey, contestants entering the Perfect Match villa in Panema City are familiar faces from Love is Blind, The Circle, Too Hot To Handle, and other popular reality shows.
Each day, their goal is to quickly get to know their housemates and find a match before the end of the night. However, an uneven number of people means two contestants will get eliminated. The pressure to find a partner is high.
