- Daisuke Tateishi (Dean Fujioka), despite his outstanding physical abilities as an action actor, lacks social interaction and is a bit of a pariah. He was an eccentric stuntman devoted to Japanese culture; old-fashioned values and a peaceful way of life. After an on-set accident put an end to his Hollywood career, Daisuke has found work at a historical theme park (the real-life Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura), where actors perform staged ninja battles for tourists. From thereon, Tateishi suffered extreme loneliness. Despite his martial-arts prowess, Daisuke's past traumas have rendered him unable to fight, so instead he works in the lighting booth, triggering sound effects for each swoosh of the blade. That he insists on doing this job in full make-up suggests that he may be taking the whole thing just a little too seriously. One day, he comes across a senior high school girl and a teenage orphan Ayumi (Aju Makita) who is being harassed consistently by a Chinese broker and the local yakuza. Ayumi is being targeted because of the land where she and her grandfather lives, Ryuzo (Tetsu Watanabe). She asks for help in a crisis, Tateishi then decides to protect her from these elements. However, after this incident, he eventually comes to develop a mindset of seeing violence as a way to gain the affirmation and approval of other people. Therefore, he gradually loses himself and releases the violent impulses he has kept sealed away. This violent action film tries to explore the duality of tenderness and madness of an action actor with a traumatic past.
