Emil is to good for this world
MCBigga2 April 2024
'Call me dad' is a really fun serie about a sub-assertive guy trying to make a little difference in the world while running a catering business with his best friend. I recognized the leadactor from his role in Vikings, and the contrast with this role as a people pleaser is kind of hilarious,.

The story is honestly very funny. The cast is great, making the ridiculous twists in the story kind of believable. The serie is nicely shot. Episodes are short and amount of episodes is just good for telling the story. The humour is maybe a bit typical Scandinavian, which is in my opinion the best kind. I also loved the plot of the last episode.

Boring

Warning: Spoilers
After a year's delay, we were finally able to see the series in Australia. It was a long-awaited series for me, but then I was very disappointed. In principle, you can save yourself the time. The trailer for the series actually shows most of what you need to know. It was a very boring watch. It's all about the oh so bad girlfriend versus potentially oh so good girlfriend. But the bad girlfriend is way too exaggeratedly bad and one-dimensional, while the new girl is the exaggerated angel (until their oh so shocking plot twist in the end 😪). And Emil is such a pushover that as a viewer you hardly feel like rooting for him. The humor is very flat. The acting from the cast is mediocre but that's to be expected when the characters they play aren't challenging to play. You have to like very, very easily digestible content to like this series.
