nishanneymessi31 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It was a good movie Abhirami and Samuthirakani lead role in this movie as the parents of adopted kid..This is a story about A common girl is living together with her partner without marriage. Later on they had a kid after 5 abortion and the man decided to sell her kid to Samuthirakani. Remaining story is about the girl fights back to reunite with her child because she was cheated by her partner and one agency who involved in iilegal adoption. The court scene was very emotional and the girl who acted as the child mother was too good and everyone potray her as sinful girl. One time watchable movie.

we learned a lot!

The film was a nice watch bringing awareness to adoption protocols and mistakes made by couples who want to live-in. We learnt a lot!

DELICIOUS

-A main actress who's dark skin!!😍 Thank you to the casting team for giving Mullai Arasi the chance to showcase her excellent talent. She gave us so many dimensions that her rendition was pure and touching

Hats off to Ashok Kumar Balakrishnan, he was the most irritating person in this story being so ignorant and careless 😆 Well done

-We learnt a lot about correct adoption procedures and were educated on the essentials of parenthood and live-in relationships

-The various characters helped enrich the screenplay, e.g. The Child Welfare Committee, the TV show personnel, and Shoba's boyfriend's dad

BLAND

-The score was so omnipresent and loud that it overwhelmed the film😔

-Samuthirakani wasn't very visible, it's almost like he had a supportive role despite the fact that his face is dominant on the poster

-The cinematography played it safe without adding depth to the scenario, it could have used more dynamic movements or angles just for a kick

-Storytelling could have been more fluent. At times, we didn't know whether we were in the past or present. Plus, some characters were given unnecessary importance, e.g. The TV show's director

Overall, nice work executed!

A Bold & Brilliant Effort

Warning: Spoilers
Are You OK Baby? Is a Tamil drama film directed by Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, starring Samuthirakani, Abhirami, Mullai Arasi and Ashok Kumar in the lead roles.

The film deals with the sensitive issue of adoption and the legal and emotional challenges faced by the adoptive parents and the biological mother of a child. The film also features a meta-narrative of a reality TV show, hosted by Lakshmy Ramakrishnan herself, that intervenes in the lives of the characters and exposes their conflicts to the public.

The film is a bold and brave attempt to tackle a complex and controversial topic that is rarely explored in Indian cinema. The film raises some pertinent questions and dilemmas about adoption and parenthood, and shows the different perspectives and motivations of the characters involved. The film also has a unique and innovative narrative structure, where the reality TV show serves as a catalyst and a commentary on the main plot. The film also has a social message and a humanitarian appeal, as it highlights the plight of orphaned and abandoned children in India.

The film has some brilliant performances by the lead actors, especially Mullai Arasi, who plays the role of Shobha, the biological mother of the child. She delivers a nuanced and powerful performance, and makes us feel her pain and anguish. Samuthirakani and Abhirami, who play the role of the adoptive parents, also give convincing and realistic portrayals of their characters. The film also has some memorable dialogues and scenes that touch our hearts and minds. The film also has a beautiful music score by Ilaiyaraaja, who composed a soulful song called 'Annai Thanthai' for the film.

Overall, 'Are You OK Baby?' is a film that deserves appreciation and applause for its courage and creativity. The film is a rare and refreshing example of a socially relevant and realistic drama, that does not shy away from showing the harsh and bitter realities of life.

The film is not a flawless masterpiece, but it is a sincere and honest effort that deserves our attention and respect.

I would give it 9 stars out of 10.
