Another cheating male lead
mapr1237 May 2023
Overall, I like this show and certain characters are a joy to watch. Hats off especially to the actors who play Nursema and Omer (outstanding acting). However, the male lead Fatih has been a major problem from the start. Because of him, I don't enjoy the show as much as I want to. I also don't like the actor playing him -- he lacks charisma and has no chemistry with the female lead who plays Doga.

Fatih is a very unlikeable character who has no respect or empathy for his pregnant wife Doja. These two don't even seem to like each other so I am not sure why they are together. Fatih is mentally (and borderline physically) abusive. He keeps stressing Doga out and always puts his family over her. Now he's cheating (at the FIRST opportunity).

I don't care how much Fatih begs or what he does after this, he's irredeemable and cannot be trusted. I hope the writers give Doja back her self-respect by divorcing her from this poor excuse for a man. There should be no reconciliation -- but I won't be surprised if the writers reunite them (Turkish writers are notorious for doing this).

Only watched it for Sila (Doga), but overall the cast is great!

Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this series for Sila, who played Doga and was amazed by the cast with some actors I knew before. But I find 0 chemistry with her new partner, who plays Fatih (Dogukan Gungor). It's SO cringing to watch them kissing because this was the first series she shared kissing-on-the-lips scenes with a partner.

Overall, I stopped watching it live since episode 16 precisely because her character is irritating me. I don't know how many more bumps Doga needed to get on her forehead. But returning to her abusive husband and his house was going repetitive, this couldn't be justified by love, this is a weakness of character and a fear of being alone. I'm not interested in watching this character who doesn't develop "forward and upward" in any way except for the growing belly of a pregnant woman.

Started good but struggling
mhrmbossylmz18 March 2023
First of all the life styls between two extremist ideology (Islamic and secular) are depicted wisely but that doesn't mean scriptwriter handls it good. Supreme islamist family's way of living is totally fine but the way of using language is irritating. Just like in many other Turkish soap operas, there are lots of illogical events but the amount of it gets increased. If you live in a Muslim country, you are well aware of the many situations that is "handled" in the tv series but on which side you belong affects how you see the events in the tv serie but if you in the middle, then you will be totally irritated by the behaviors of the two sides.

Great Series
sillaturko22 December 2022
It is a very good series that portrays well the difficulties encountered when a young man from a traditional Muslim family marries a girl whose religion is not the pillar of her family. It's a beautiful family drama that shows that every family has its imperfections and prejudices.

The cast is wonderful and talented. And a very good thing is that the plot does not revolve around the protagonists alone.

Nowadays, I think this series brings very important reflections on religious and moral issues in society not only in Turkey but all over the world.

Once again I emphasize that the cast is so good that it will make you love the characters and hate them in the same episode.

bad reviews are angry conservatives for their hypocrisy has been exposed
dalba2528 March 2023
I was bored one day and thought of seeing the first episode of this series, more because of Sila being in it. Best decision ever, it blew my expectations and I've enjoyed each second of it. Great plot, excellent cast and good direction. Writing never gets boring, story progresses fast and characters don't act irrationally. It's the story of millions of women in the eastern world, a breath of fresh in the dizi world. 20 excellent episodes so far.

I had my doubts at first, thinking it would be a story washed with Muslim morale, never expected it to be one that would expose the hypocrisy, the wrong and the right, the lack of humanity and empathy of the conservative world too busy to put on a show for the world but very cold and ruthless inside.

Also it exposes many aspects of the so called modern society, lack of tolerance and blown bridges of communication.

I recommend this series if you want an insight in what the clash of two lifestyles is like.

Very good actors
swaycover11 January 2023
This series is one of my favorites at the moment - I usually wait, till all episodes are released to watch, but I simply can not with this one!

The main couple is struggling with different family opinions and views, but so far manages to navigate deep waters. There is enough drama and misunderstandings to keep you interested.

I avoid too much drama, since I want to be entertained, no get depressed, and this series has just the right amount of it.

What is equally surprising for me is, that there are no "love rivals" or psycho females (so far), that would do everything to get the man (typical plot in turkish dramas). And that is so refreshing!

The actors are really great, I seldom saw such natural acting - not just from the main couple, everyone is playing their roles very well!

Recommended!

A MUST SEE!
123memeandme24 December 2022
So far (episode 9) I am really, really impressed!

The actors - all of them - are doing a fabulous job. All portrayed emotions are on point without overacting.

The plot is easy to follow: A girl from a modern family falls in love and gets pregnant from a guy from a traditional family. They marry, the problems start. This may sound like a hard storyline with lot´s of drama, but it is done in such a way, that you will be captivated and will sit at the edge of your seat. Do not be afraid to watch, it really is done in a light way.

The on screen chemistry between the main leads is top notch. They paired two great actors, that can pull their roles to the max. All of their interactions seem natural. I am really impressed and hope, that it will keep on.

It is reality that is stranger than fiction
paraotrascosas-4516422 December 2022
We are talking about two families from different cultures trying to adjust to each other. Conflicts inevitably arise but that is where it is interesting Tolerance, respect, privacy, love and much more, this is not the classic story you expect to see. Many people identify perfectly with the characters or their situations and the camera work is so INCREDIBLE, the outfits, the sets, etc.

The cast is very professional and they convey all the emotions of their characters. Something that is appreciated is that the director shares photographs showing a healthy and pleasant work environment. You can't pass up this series.

Interesting, thought-provoking and entertaining series
mosquitocyn28 March 2023
This series touches on the challenges faced by 2 families of the same religion (one is conservative and the other is liberal) when a son and daughter of the respective families marry. Initially I thought this series is not for me but I continued with it. I have just finished episode 7 and find this series so interesting that I just want to catch up with it. It's an enjoyable watch. Almost every character is given a fair share onscreen. So, it's not only about a male or female lead which is what makes the series more interesting. In addition, it touches on many different aspects in life which are viewed differently by conservatives and liberals. The subjects are not dramatized but are dealt with quite well (so far). The series has many funny moments too and thus it makes a watchable family drama for all. It also shows how family, cultures, traditions and religious practices affects one's choices and complicates relationships. I hope I will continue to enjoy this series.

Really strong story
meevarsani21 January 2023
This is one of the best Turkish drama out there. No fluff, but real depth into the intricacies of how religion can shape the perspective of upbringing and how that might shape the connections with those that don't follow a deep faith.

It is not only about relationships between husband and wife, but parents, siblings.

The pairings of each cast member is done extremely well. Every single individual is outstanding.

I'm particularly impressed by this week's episode on bullying and the talks.

I'm surprised at seeing only 4 stars when I only see 10star ratings shown with great reviews

A must see.

Great story well put together
melisapelin3 May 2023
Based on true story. This series is a reality for many people in Turkiye right now. Conservative religious cults are against this series because it shows how they think and how they use religion to justify their wrong doings. I enjoy watching it and was very upset when they put a ban on the show but glad it came back. It's not one of those stories that keep you guessing and stresses you out with only drama happening, most issues come to light and they are resolved effectively. It's also fun to watch makes you laugh, think and cry all at the same time. I hope it stays on TV for a long time. I never get bored of it.

Abrupt ending
anjumzaheer-336374 September 2023
It started off so well, great cast, beautiful sets and engaging storyline but the way it ended was just heartbreaking! I mean what was the writer thinking ? So many questions were left unanswered, so many characters left to the imagination of the viewers. Sad that such a promising series ended the way it did. What was the rush to end it so abruptly? I'm sure the viewers would've liked to know the fate of the lead roles, how does the senior couple resolve their conflict? Did the writer run out of a storyline? Or was he forced to write a haphazard ending ? We the viewers will never know why we were left left guessing but it was not fair to the viewers.

Very interesting and intriguing series
maria-london8 January 2023
This series portrays the struggles, love relationship and understanding between two different cultures within the same religion (traditional and modern muslin). Is beautifully acted and very cleverly written.

Also shows feelings such as jealousy and greed between family member and the role that the parents play which sometimes show very strong points of views and lack of understanding of each other's feelings and dreams. I am sure many people will relate to this storyline which is so apparent and real in today's society.

So far every episode have impressed me very much and let's hope it will continue to do so in the nest ones.

Bravo to everyone at Kizilcik Serbeti
ginamalik-5719526 March 2023
Bravo Bravo to the writers the producers and especially the actors .Especially episode 19 and 20 . WOW what an amazing and exciting turn of events .I always felt there was something interestingly mundane about this play but the last two episode were unbelievably realistic ,imaginative and exquisitely delivered by all the actors .I have followed this ply from the start but now I cant wait for Friday to arrive each week. Although all the actors performed par excellence yet I feel special mention goes to the convincing performance of Sonmaz Anum ,KIviljym Anum ,Omer Bay ,Fatih and last but not least Nursema ,whose outburst of confidence and the decision to stand up for what is rightfully her correct and a great lesson to young girls of today. Once again what a turn of events .

Excellent Series
mariavp-9990113 June 2023
Brilliant actors, script writers and director.

I can't wait till the next season. Does anybody know when the next season begins?

The last episode was one of the best cliff hangers I've ever seen. I can't wait for the next season to air.

As I'm not Turkish, I find the insight provided by this series in relation to the conservative and non-conservative Turks is very interesting.

I know quite a few non-Turkish people watching this series and everyone gives it a very high rating.

The only problem is the English translation in all the Turkish series (except the ones on Netflix) is terrible as it is a direct google translation.
