Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The antagonist is barely human and almost demonic in appearance. The main character's companion is also very sadistic and looks hideous.
  • There is virtually no comic relief or upbeat scenes in the whole film. The whole thing is very bleak and macabre.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Adam Chaplin goes on a rampage in the finale. He kills a lot of people in a variety of ways. Death by a brutal one-punch, heads are slammed into walls, decapitation, mutilation, people are yet again punched into pulp and one person has his arm blown off and is then shot into half. Another person finishes him off by shooting him in the head and stomping his head in.
  • A man has two of his bones ripped out and is then literally punched into the air and then slammed into a wall. Lots and lots of blood. He is still alive. He then has his arm broken, has his neck literally ripped open and is yet again punched into pulp until he literally explodes in a gory mess. And miraculously he's still alive. He is then finally finished off when Adam Chaplin makes him explode using the pole with his dead son. By far the most brutal kill in the entire movie.
  • Vicious, extreme violence. Several occasions where people are beaten to a grotesque pulp; for example, a dirty cop is punched rapidly until his face is like a mound of bloody mashed potato. He is then finished off when a shotgun is placed in his mouth and discharged . The final confrontation at the end of the film is particularly harsh.
  • A dog is shot to death, although this is to protect someone. Very graphic.
