LoveTown

Jay Webster has crafted a freakishly awesome and imaginative work filled with stunning visuals and editing prowess. He is a visual daredevil, and it's not enough to simply say the visuals are "edgy", which hearkens to mind a post-modern style that is quickly becoming old hat. Jay clearly has his own very unique style and vision that is worth enjoying. Songstress and actress Ann-Janette, meanwhile, has never failed to entertain and emotionally engage with her catchy pop-rock tunes, songs that are at once catchy and complicated and get inside your psyche by wedging their way between your dreams and your fears, reminding you that "you're never too far away" from love, even if you just lost it. I used one of her songs in my first feature, Every Hidden Thing, in one of the most intensely emotional segments, and the song tells the story almost more than the story itself. LoveTown, however, is assembled around her songs and sound like like a glove fits a hand – the hand does the work, but the glove protects and enables it. In the interest of offering a balanced review, at times there are a few sound issues (especially in the outdoor scenes), but I can't say much – my first feature had similar issues. I say "Well done!" to the Websters and their cast and crew!
