One of the BEST Disability History Movies EVER!

I have seen this movie now three times and each time I learn something new all over again.

We used this film at Holyoke Community College at a Professional Development Day for faculty and staff. It was very well received and after the day was over faculty came to us to ask how they can get the film because they wanted to incorporate it into their curriculum.

It is so powerful and there is nothing like it out there at this time. It is about time that there is a film that talks about MY history. People that have fought for the things that we take for granted every day!

I can use the film to thank them and show the world that we do have a history and it was built from stretchers, walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs!!! I am grateful for them and many other who have shaped this world and there hard work has made it much easier for me as a disabled woman to live and go places I never would have before.

Moving and important

Not enough people know about this important piece of American history. There are over 52 million people with Disabilities in the U.S. and their family and friends whose lives are better for the work that was done to establish a fundamental set of civil rights that affirms discrimination will not be tolerated in our society. Compelling archival footage of the institutional conditions in which many disabled people were once forced to live sets the stage for understanding the movement that fought for freedom, inclusion, and independence. The film maker lets the story be told in the voices of people with disabilities without superimposing his own narrative or perspectives. He gives the movers and shakers who were on the front lines a space to tell their story with passion, humor and grace. Excellent film for all to see, great for high school or college courses in history, sociology, philosophy, anthropology, etc. if you wonder how this relates to you remember that eliminating discrimination wherever it manifests makes the world safer for everyone, in this case, we know that disability is a club most people will join at some point in their life time. So be part of making the world more accessible and inclusive before you or someone you love needs it.

wonderful film on the ADA

This Short film about the ADA and what the men and woman and children involved in the disability movement accomplished should be seen in every classroom across America. It is riveting and touching and IMPORTANT.

This film does a brilliant job in relating to its audience how the process of getting the ADA written into law really happened in such a concise and emotionally moving way that I was stunned at how effective and important this film really is... so much so, I wanted to come and give it my good review. The Disability Movement is a shining example of the strength and beauty of humanity and what they accomplished should be considered one of our country's most brilliant moments. Its that inspiring. This is a film that should be shared with everyone. Kudos to all who were interviewed for the film and bravo to the film maker.
