Falls flat on so many levels
halbarad_loire30 December 2013
I'll keep this simple. The story is bad, made absolutely terrible by some of the worst voice-over work I've had the misfortune of hearing, and I've played some terrible games and watched some terrible films in my time.

The action is choreographed reasonably. This doesn't mean it's good, it's passable. It's noticeable too often and there is too much reliance on fighting, making it seem like it's just a wet dream fantasy of some random guy.

This wet dream fantasy is culminated with shoe-horned sex scenes or just random female nudity. Now, granted, this actually is the best part of the film for me, as a hot-blooded male who thought the film was pretty crap. The women were very attractive, but were simply there to be that, which is a shame. I say women, it was just one woman really, and a topless Asian girl right at the end.

Honestly, the film is just plain bad, start to finish. The only redeeming feature is the rare, but nice to look at, nudity. That makes me sound terribly misogynistic, which I swear I'm not (!), but it's the truth. It's not worth watching.

So bad it has to be seen to be believed...
paul_haakonsen17 April 2014
"Dragonwolf" was really a horrible experience to sit through. Not only because of its mediocre storyline, but more so because of the wooden and wooden acting and laughable dialogue all the way throughout the entire movie.

The story is about Mozart (played by Kazu Patrick Tang) whose mother dies when he is a boy, and Julius (played by Johan Kirsten) promises to look after him, essentially adopting him as a brother. As grown ups, the brothers are living on the shadier edge of the law, both having fallen for the same woman.

This movie takes place in Thailand, but for some odd reason everyone is speaking English throughout the movie, even Mozart's mom during the start of the movie. Having everyone speaking English didn't really help to make the movie any better.

I must confess that I have never seen as bad acting as I did in this movie from the guy who played the shaman and one of the goons (who were on the mountain with a binocular and saying that the woman was his project now) who worked for Julius. Wow, that was just horrible to bear witness to.

The one thing of the two things that this movie has working for it is the martial arts. There are some nice fighting scenes, although you can see that they are choreographed and rigidly executed, especially during many of the kicking scenes as they don't even try to hit one another. Despite having some fair action scenes and sequences throughout the movie, they could do nothing to lift up the movie, much less make the movie worthwhile.

And the second thing that works for the movie is the fighting and stunt talents of Kazu Patrick Tang.

Thai movies usually are nice, but of course, it would be ignorant to think that every single Thai movie will be great, and "Dragonwolf" is the testimony that proves the theory wrong. Boy was this a horrible movie.

And the movie ran for about 120 minutes, which was a painful length, because the movie was slow, dimwitted, dull and most often uneventful. "Dragonwolf" is not one of the prouder moments in Thai cinema. Should you be unfortunate to sit through and bear witness to this movie, trust me that you will soon forget about the movie once it finished (provided you make it to the end, of course), and you will not look back to make an additional viewing of this movie. I guarantee it.

Solid action let down by some poor acting and a weak story
Tweekums5 August 2019
This martial arts action film is set in a city called The Devil's Cauldron were might is right and only the strong survive. Mozart and Julius are two such survivors; they have looked on each other as brothers since they met as children but now they are mortal enemies; the reason... they have both fallen in love with the same woman. As the film starts the trying to kill each other; we learn why via a series of flashbacks.

If you enjoy martial arts action this film delivers many fine fight scenes as well as a fair amount of brutality... unfortunately these scenes are linked by a story that isn't really strong enough. The acting is very mixed; I thought Kazu Patrick Tang was pretty solid as Mozart; Johan Kirsten was okay as Julius and Macha Polivka was good enough but underused as Mary, the woman who gets between them. I liked Guk Srisawat's performance as Umiko although she felt like a character who had wandered in from another, probably better, film. Many secondary actors were distinctly poor. At times it felt as though the makers had seen other, better, films, notably 'Sin City' and 'Kill Bill part One' and decided to combine them with little success. Overall I'd say that this film has its moments but overall it was a bit disappointing... probably best watched with a few friends and several beers.

Who let the dorks out?
Shizuka20085 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Our two heroes belong to an "Institution existing many generations" (oh boy) as the "filmmakers" put it.

Apparently some other guys from another "institution" for some reason don't really like our heroes.

But instead of just shooting and being done with them they decide to fight them in endless lame martial arts battles in always the same abandoned, derelict buildings.

There is really not much else going on.

I guess the filmmakers have been let out their "institution" way too early or they were treated with the wrong meds. (I call them "filmmakers" but they are not really filmmakers.) Do I really have to mention that the actors suck as much as the script, the cinematography (if you really want to call it that) and the "directing"? If you really want to waste your time watching some dorks beating up other dorks then you'd better also check into some kind of "institution existing for many generations".

But make sure they don't let you out early like all the zero talent guys who have made this crap.

Where are Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan when you need them? Oh crap.

this could very well be the worst movie EVER made ... ever!
mtnthai26 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
i think i need to repeat myself when i say: this could very well be the worst movie EVER made ... ever! shot on location in Bangkok, Thailand this attempt at film making is a shameless exercise in story telling, direction, acting, costuming, makeup and styling. the characters and plot are so lame that even a few decent fight scenes amongst the endless barrage of fists and feet can not help this disaster.

to top it all off the producers felt compelled to include gratuitous sexist nudity in what must have been an attempt to create some chatter on the Internet that would lead to either ticket or DVD sales.

as mentioned by other reviewers the hardest part of watching this film was the dubbing. its as if the people who were doing the voice-overs were not allowed to view the film while they were working on it.

if i had anything to do with how IMDb builds the interface for this great website i would have to initiate a negative star rating system so that this particular film could be accurately rated. the only people who should receive kudos for this production are the people who raised the money for it, because i have no idea how they could have ever gotten anyone to invest in this film in the first place.

further, all the other people involved in this production should be banned from ever making another film again, or even allowed to go to the movies.

so in closing i would like to say again: this could very well be the worst movie EVER made ... ever!

This hurts
bpb415 February 2015
I have sat and watched some of the worst movies ever from start to finish; even the hookers look beat in this movie. I don't know any of the actors and i am actually very glad i don't, because this is just embarrassing. My Little Pony has better choreographed fight scenes then this movie. I made an account during this film to rate just this movie, as a public service. No one should have to endure watching this. I have made porno's in my garage with better acting, plot and special effects. OK well i made it 30min in to the movie, and I am turning if off now.

Dramatically it is getting worse by the minute I conclude that i want my 30min of life back. I would like to sue them. This is truly a very bad movie

It wanted to be Sin CIty with Kung Fu mixed in...
peterbp14 February 2015
...but fell flat on its face.

With a decent budget, plenty of locations to film, a somewhat large cast, decent combat scenes and cinematography, it should make for a good flick.

Instead, it is gutted by tedious, standard dialogue, poorly executed. Too much chatter, barely a hint of emotion in it, all of it stuffed together in chunks that just can't jabber squeezed into it without any breaks and pauses.

Oh yeah, the plot? Like a bone with a few pathetic strips of meat on it.

Movie might have worked if the acting and speech was top-notch (think Pulp Fiction), but with this standard of acting... forget it!

Dragonwolf
qwerty4433 November 2013
I have been looking forward to seeing Dragonwolf for a long time.

Although there are some things I would have done differently, there is a lot to like here. Though the action was a bit too fast cut for my liking, the choreography by star Kazu was good, there is hand to hand and some weapons and some nice stunts – a good mix.

Good effects, well paced, cool music, nice cinematography, some comedy, awesome locations, nice cars, beautiful women.

I particularly liked 'the Russians' fight and the RAHU was a bit out of place with the rest of the film but their fight was great !

I enjoyed it very much.

HAVE SOME CANDY?
nogodnomasters31 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The story centers around two men. Mozart (Kazu Patrick Tang) who is the wolf. As a child he was saved by a Shaman at the cost of his mother's soul. When she died he was "cared for" by his "brother" Julius (Johan Kirsten) the Dragon, giving us the title. They became successful hitmen in the city of Devil's Cauldron. The story starts out confusing as Mozart is killing Julius' men to the displeasure of their mutual boss. Through a series of flashbacks we discover that Julius attempted to have Mozart killed over a love triangle involving Mary (Macha Polivka) a woman with a dragon tattoo.

The film is basically a Thai grindhouse. It includes some classically bad dubbing on a few of the minor characters. The two hour feature allows us to develop some complexity for the two main characters as we have scenes of Julius visiting his dying mother. Perhaps the downfall of the film is its genre mixing as a martial arts grindhouse and love drama, the latter of which wasn't done well. It also introduces a major character 90 minutes into the film to tie up some plot points.

The film had enough blood splatter and pretty girls to keep be entertained. Its haphazard flashback construction left me slightly confused for the early stages of the film. A soft 4 stars. Worth viewing for grindhouse fans.

Parental Guide: Not much swearing. There were a couple of badly dubbed "Mother Fo's" And when I say Mother Fo I mean Mother Fo and not something that sounds like it. There was something that sounded like a quick F-bomb spoken by Julius when he first describes Mary's dragon tattoo. Sex scenes and a healthy amount of nudity including the main female leads Macha Polivka and Guk Srisawat.

Good Film
denykurniawan30 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I think the quality of the films presented in this movie is great because a lot of the best scenes in view of these impressions. Dragonwolf it tells the story like the dragon against the wolf which was the best strength to calm him down.

But it would be nice if which issued in the form of the action movie genre like this involve other genre of professional players like Stephen Chow, or other actors to make it more interesting and more challenging and watched good for longer.

to make the best possible first scene that target destination. For the second scene looking for opponents to play good and the selection of an equal adversary in the final stage where the opponent look lost first leading role in efforts to win new experience merebutkan women.

hopefully there is a continuation of the film dragonwolf which tells the same story but different enemy opposing players where, the story goes according grooves and interlocking in the ce
