Breakout Australia comedy Colin From Accounts is back in production.
An official green light of Season 2 of the hit Binge sitcom came in August, after writers and stars Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer chose to down their pens in solidarity with WGA strike in the U.S. over the summer.
Exec producer Alison Hurbert-Burns from Binge told Deadline in October production would begin in “coming months,” adding: “As an Australian program it was outside of the strike, but they just felt it was the right thing to do.”
Brammall and Dyer finished the scripts once a deal was struck at the end of September. Production is now back underway across Sydney, with Easy Tiger Productions and CBS Studios returning the produce.

Not so long ago, the only Australian TV shows imported by the UK and US were soaps and the odd kids’ series. Neighbours, Home & Away, Prisoner: Cell Block H, Heartbreak High, and child trauma factory Round the Twist went overseas, but not much else.
It didn’t make for a very complete picture. 30 years ago, if you’d asked a British person to conjure up Australia based solely on its available TV output, they’d have pictured a land of bait shops, haunted lighthouses, prison wings, and cul de sacs where good neighbours become good friends. Ask one now, and thanks to streaming, it’d be a much broader church, based on viewing comedies, thrillers, dramas, detective shows and more.
Here are some of the best Australian TV series currently available to stream in the UK and US. We’ll update this selection as new series arrive.

Have you watched "Knives Out" and "Glass Onion" and found yourself in desperate need of more tales of murder from writer/director Rian Johnson? Or perhaps you've binge-watched both seasons of "Russian Doll" and are ready for another show where Natasha Lyonne attempts to solve a mystery with a lackadaisical attitude and some sharp wit. Or maybe you just want to see Adrien Brody, Stephanie Hsu, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ron Perlman, Benjamin Bratt, Chloë Sevigny, Lil Rel Howery, Clea Duvall, Tim Blake Nelson, and a whole clown car of other acclaimed actors all in one place.
If any of the above apply, then "Poker Face" might be the show for you. Created, written, and directed by Johnson, the 10-episode case-of-the-week murder mystery series stars Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a casino hostess turned detective with an uncanny ability to know whether or not someone is telling the truth. The failure of Andrew Denton’s word game comedy Randling to find an audience was partly because of the cost cutting process the ABC put the show through, MD Mark Scott has conceded.
The show, in the ABC’s key 8.30pm Wednesday night comedy slot, struggled to reach a metro audience of 600,000. Its final week, by which time it had moved to 9.30pm, it rated just 434,000.
But the entire 27-episode series was shot before any of it was aired, leaving no opportunity for Denton’s production house Zapruder’s Other Films to develop the format in response to audience reaction.
Scott told Mumbrella’s sister title Encore: “One of the things we did with Randling that we learned from, and this was partly a budget thing, was that we locked all that away. It was all locked away before it went to air. If we had been broadcasting it as we were making it,...

Film-maker Alethea Jones has joined Sydney-based production company Jungleboys’ stable of directors.
Among the Melbourne-based director’s accolades, she won last year’s Tropfest and recently directed the 2013 Tropfest trailer.
Jones works primarily in comedy, a space the Jungleboys has sought to occupy in the last year.
In 2012 the production company widened its work beyond advertising and online sketch to long form comedy with ABC1′s A Moody Christmas. The company announced late last year it was producing a sketch comedy series for ABC1, which Jones will contribute to.
Jones said: “I’m beyond pumped.”
Jungleboys founder and executive producer Jason Burrows said: “We’re thrilled to have Alethea on board. She is very well respected by a lot of our favourite comic actors. Her work always has a unique and brilliant look and she is one of the funniest directors I’ve met.”

A new sketch comedy series is being developed for ABC1 by comedy producing team Jungleboys.
Executive producer Jason Burrows said, .We can't say too much because the show is still in development; however what we can say is the new series is a pure sketch show with no apparent linking device or theme. While we are open to reoccurring storylines and characters, much of it will be made up of stand-alone pieces stemming from interesting ideas and concepts..
Burrows said he was keen to move away from what he believes has become stock-standard practice in Australian comedy.
.We.re interested in making a series that is grounded in reality - good performance comedy - rather than comedians doing over-the-top impersonations.
.Tonally, I think it.s going to be very different to what we have been seeing on Australian TV. There.s been a lot of parodies, impersonations, mock-doc; so you...

Jungleboys’ A Moody Christmas
Production company Jungleboys is seeking writers for a new sketch show commissioned by the ABC.
Destined for ABC1, the as yet untitled sketch show follows the critical success of the company’s first long-form series A Moody Christmas, which has just finished airing on ABC1.
Founder and executive producer Jason Burrows told Encore: “Probably the closest reference is Big Train, a British sketch show based on good performances from actors rather than just writers getting in front of the camera.
“The idea is pure sketch with no device or themes and ideas that are clever and interesting. You won’t see parodies or impersonations, or topical issues. That being said comedy will always override any rules we’ve set.”
With the series still in development Burrows couldn’t confirm how many half-hour episodes have been ordered.
