Lady Felicia returns for a visit to Kembleford, she's quick to protest at an exclusive all men's club, just before it's bully of an owner is killed.
It may not have been as sharp as last week's, but still a fine episode, it has a good storyline, some very nice characters, including a face from the past and an interesting (if obvious) conclusion.
It is one of those storylines that's perhaps seen with the eyes of a 2023 audience, Gentlemen's clubs were commonplace at that time, would Lady Felicia really have been so outraged, I'm not sure about that.
Brenda Palmer is back after her first appearance in the previous series episode, The Wayward Girls, she made for a really nice addition to the show.
I really enjoyed the sparring between Lady Felicia and Mrs Devine, it was inevitable, and worked very well, infrared they'd get on line a house on fire, fortunately they didn't. Mrs Devine continues to impress.
8/10.

I love father brown
The series has been one of my fave go to shows since the beginning
Now apart from father brown and a few others like flambou and lady Felecia
It's completely ruined the show with the new girl ( hopeless and characters actress) and the new church secretary vapid airhead not a patch on mrs Mc Carthy oh how I loved her chats with father brown
I miss her so much Sorcha and mark were wonderful together
Why ruin a brilliant series's can they come back or is it doomed now with these below par actors
Could even bunty make a return
I miss the old father brown it had character and a sense of family amongst them all
Please sort it this isn't working
Mark Williams has nobody to bounce off
Was brilliant now very mediocre
Sorry.

I'm really enjoying the mix of old and new characters - this show has always done a great job of moving forward but with fan favourites popping back all the time too. Also I am very intrigued by the hinted Kembleford backstory with certain residents. 'Father Brown' has a good mix of adult ages and is usually, but not always, ok for younger people - this episode is fine, in my opinion. We pretty much got the big twist early on - but were still a million miles off as to who - totally on the wrong track as we read too much into it! So far, it is brilliant having the show back ... after all the real-world changes and events, it is good to have some familiar but fresh TV.

After shuffling around the terrible cast with the occasional tease of the rare, very rare, passably good characters, this episode has decided to completely ruin any hope of the decent Lady Felicia by having her charge into a Gentlemen's Club in 1954, demand they serve women, and later chain herself to the bar in protest when refused. So, more identity politics anachronisms stinking up the show. We've also lost Mrs. McCarthy, Sid, Bunti (finally), and Inspector Mallory (Thank God). All these characters have been replaced my one new secretary, Mrs. Divine, who seems alright so far, and Inspector Sullivan who's one of the better characters from previous shows. We have, however, gained the most annoying character to the main cast introduced so far in the series: Brenda Palmer. I'm stymied as to how anyone thought this was a good idea, but, then again, I've watched the entire series so far so shouldn't be too surprised.
I lost interest in this show when both Mrs. McCarthy and Bunty left but due to boredom, I decided to give Season 10 a try. The first episode wasn't terrible but then I watched the second episode and it will be the last Father Brown for me.
Inspector Sullivan is a huge upgrade from the clownish Mallory, Mrs. Devine is okay but Brenda is a terrible addition. The actress' facial expressions don't match the mood of the scenes and her accent is nails-on-a-chalkboard bad.
Even worse than the cast changes is the writing. First episode felt a bit stilted, the second was horrible. It was obvious from the beginning who the killer was and how they managed to fool everyone. Sullivan allows Fr. Brown and the women to decide who he will and will not arrest. And the characters don't sound like they're actually speaking with one another, they just make grand (eyerolling) statements.
Father Brown was a mildly entertaining show that has run its course.
