this film is not worth watching
henryhamor20 February 2024
Wasted my time seeing this movie... I like fantasy and adventure kind of movies but this one really sucks! Nothing really exciting and interesting that will make you glued to your seat. So lame that your focusing of something else while the movie is playing. I am not saying this because it's not an American movie that is produced by a huge film production. I have watched other foreign fantasy and adventure films like Troll (a Norwegian 2022 film) and it was interesting and was able to finish watching it till the end. Pls do not bother to watch Warchief and save your precious time to something productive instead.

Don't bother watching!

Seeing IMDB rated it 5.9stars I thought oh it'll be half decent.

WRONG This is awful, terrible actor, terrible plot. Low budget isn't the word.

I love fantasy, I saw orcs and thought yes that's for me.

This film is for no one, I genuinely think they found the actors off the street.

Seriously don't waste your time.

It starts with them just walking and talking, maybe it'll pick up, it doesn't. I have nothing positive to say, the bit I enjoyed the most was turning it off.

Even if you have nothing to watch, just stare at a wall, you'll have more fun than if you watch this, I'm annoyed I wasted my life on this.

Warning: Spoilers
I never saw such a bullsh** like this before! It's just boring and it drags on far too much. The trailer was very promising, so the disappointment is huge. Unfortunately, it's a total letdown. The actors are bad, the constant chatter is annoying and you don't really feel like watching it to the end. Instead of an imaginative and well-made film, you just get long talk, scenes that are cut even though then there are scenes where you cut off a head. You keep thinking when it's finally going to start, but apart from a few fight scenes you see too many irrelevant things and, as already mentioned, unnecessary long conversations. Anyone who likes strange British films will find this great. But all other ones probably not.

I can't understand why this nonsense still has 5.2 stars!

Between LARP junk and failed acting. Enjoy, if you can movie.

Warning: Spoilers
Officially, we get told:

'A group of guardians are tasked with protecting a messenger who must deliver vital information to their king. On their journey through an ancient land, they face a battle filled with plagues, dark magic, and vile monsters.´

What we get for real? Four people in cliché fantasy gear, the sort no sane person would choose for outdoor hiking aka wandering thru danger zones, plus weapons they barely know how to hold or wield, stumble thru the usual challenges of level one fantasy pseudo-heroes.

The dialogues are boring, the characters bleak and predictable, and the mostly orcish (competing kingdom) 'monsters´ have also been done better in fan movies from a decade or two ago!

Best acting: The little white-greenish spider after the intro scare.

This movie does not reach a 'Warcraft - Alliance against Horde´ flair, nor does it reach the comedically value of 'The Gamers - Dorkness Rising´, which was already a flawed roleplay turned movie. Even the early parts of Sir Peter Jackson's LOTR were much more solid, and I mean the hobbits up to meeting Aragorn.

At 120% playback speed it still was slowly, and I would prefer to call it pathetic. Still: Tastes vary, and I tend to be fierce & intolerant on stuff that peed me off, so who knows: May be I rate it one star, but you and all your friends, lovers, admirers agree that it is instead a ten star masterpiece? Check it out, form your opinion. Enjoy, if you can.

Ambitious small budget; made for fans
animus-1183917 March 2024
Call it fan fiction or one off adventure, Warchief is made for fans. It does much with little. It is unapologeticly dedicated to its genre, a pure fantasy of action and magic. A role playing game come to life on the screen. Every scene is a labor of love and Warchief has a charm for that. Of particular note are the scenes played in Orcish, and there are many. I don't know if there were subtitles for these, but if there were, the version I saw didn't have them. Instead I got the creepy feeling of being an outsider looking into an impenetrable culture. The actors inhabit their roles. My biggest complaint is the overuse of smoke in the final scenes.

Love that it doesn't try to be all things to all people.

If you're a fan of fantasy, this one is a fun diversion.

Low Budget But Interesting Story
townsendra14 March 2024
The overall production values were better than I expected for this film and while I could tell right away that it was a lower budget film, it had a lot going for it. For one thing, the plot development is present in this film. It's actually ambitious and while it fails to fully deliver on its promise at times, it came across as if someone actually tried to put a real story together and tell it.

I noticed that the film actually employed a linguist in the crew and it shows in the speech of the orcs. The makeup was also better than I expected as well. Overall, I found the acting to be pretty good; granted no one is going to take home an Oscar, but still decent.

The main protagonist is someone who you actually care about and while others have mentioned flashbacks to his backstory being boring, I found it to help make me care what happened to him. There are also some plot points that don't really come together and the mythos of the setting is sometimes hard to follow. In spite of the imperfect execution of these things, it was a good effort and the bones of the setting are present if you pay attention and not just looking for the next blood splatter.

I'm glad I watched the film and I do hope that there is a sequel to it. If you enjoy a pretty decent fantasy adventure, this may be a movie you will like. It is not perfect, but it's one of the better endeavors out there by small filmmakers.
