- Sookie and Lafayette fight to save Tara.
- With Tara seriously wounded, Sookie and Lafayette ask Pam to turn her into a vampire. She agrees but makes no promises that it will work. Erik and Bill are taken into custody by the Authority but their main captor, Nora, has something of a surprise for them. Jason gets a surprise of his own with a visit from none other than Rev. Newlin, who is now a vampire. He's not at all upset that Jason slept with his wife and has something important to tell him. Jason is rescued by Jessica who makes it clear that she wants to see others. She seems to have second thoughts when she sees Jason partying with an attractive young woman. Sam Merlotte is being hunted for the death of Marcus and takes the blame to protect Luna and her daughter.—garykmcd
- Open at the end of last season. Bill reacts to Sookie needing help and runs outside only to be captured in silver nets along with Eric. At Sookie's, Tara is dead and Lafayette is freaking out over her shooting as well as the death of Jesus. As they mourn, Pam shows up looking for Eric and, through bloody tears, tells Sookie to pass along the message that she's sorry. Instead, Sookie and Lafayette ask Pam to resurrect Tara by turning her. Pam agrees to turn Tara if Sookie will help fix what is wrong between her and Eric, as well as owing her another favor. Sookie agrees. Pam bites her wrist and gets the process started.
At Jason's place, there's a knock on the door. He opens it to see Reverend Newlin. Newlin says he's only there to talk but Jason is scared to invite him in and won't look him in the eye. But Newlin ends up glamouring Jason anyway and tricking him into inviting him inside.
Several members of Marcus' pack show up at Sam's place looking for Marcus. When it's clear that the pack members want blood, Sam turns into a bird to escape them.
Tara is placed in the ground and buried with Pam.
Later, Sam meets up with Luna, and tells her that he didn't want to repay Alcide for standing up for him and his brother by telling them the truth, that Alcide killed Marcus. The pack shows up and threatens Emma. To protect Luna and her daughter, Sam says he was the one who killed Marcus and is taken away.
Newlin releases Jason and admits that he's gay. He says that as a vampire, he now has the confidence to come out of the closet and say he's in love with Jason. When Jason says he doesn't have feelings for him, Newlin angrily jumps on Jason and threatens to harm him, but Jessica shows up and declares that Jason is hers. As "pretty much" the queen of Louisiana (now that Bill is on the run), she forces the weaker, younger vampire to leave him alone. Jason rescinds his home invitation to Newlin.
Bill and Eric are able to escape the trunk of they car in which they were placed. A woman named Nora kills their would-be captor. Eric greets Nora and begins kissing her passionately. He then tells Bill she is his sister.
When Lafayette asks why Sookie hasn't alerted the cops to Debbie's home invasion and shooting, Sookie tells Lafayette she didn't shoot Debbie in self-defense. She had time to call the police, but chose to kill her. Lafayette helps her clean up the body.
Nora, who is Chancellor, says she's helping Bill and Eric escape from The Authority because she'd do anything for Eric. She's going to help them avoid the true death, but they will have to leave their former lives behind.
Lafayette finds Jesus' body is gone. He is distraught. Sookie leaves him alone and he attempts to contact Jesus. He weeps and wonders how he can keep on living.
Holly's sons (Wade and Rocky) come home, currently a hotel, to find their mother in bed with Andy. They aren't happy with their mother.
Terry and Arlene have dinner with Patrick. His face changes when the fire is referenced.
Sookie flashes back to childhood and Tara helping her through some tough times. In the tub Lafayette glances at a razor.
Alcide shows up at Sookie's place. He tells her that Russell is on the loose. She had no idea he was alive. At one point during the episode we see a man dragging another man in what appears to be an abandoned factory and forced into a room were he is quickly pulled in and screams while blood is splattered across a window. Suggesting whomever is helping Russell nurse back to (vampire) life.
At Merlotte's, a judge asks Andy to make his kid's speeding ticket go away. Meanwhile Hoyt, who is sitting at a table with several new friends who have heard about what happened between him and Jessica, is still pissed at Jason. Jason apologizes but Hoyt doesn't want to hear it.
Alcide thinks Russell will come after her, which is why he thinks she should stay with him. She begins to tell him what just happened with Debbie, but Lafayette (who has shaved his head) comes into the room and demands Alcide leave. He wants them to be done with all supernatural creatures.
Sam is tortured but isn't giving up any information. A woman named Martha shows up and tells Sam the pack needs Marcus' body for rituals. She says if he leads them to the body no harm will come to Luna or Emma. He says "Let's go."
Eric and Nora have sex. His phone begins to ring and she is upset he took the risk by keeping it. It is Alcide.
At the King's mansion, Jessica parties with college kids. Jason shows up at the door. She wants to get rid of him but he comes inside and sits down.
Patrick tells Terry he lost his home in the fire. He talks about a series of fires and references a night from their service in Iraq. They fight and Patrick says he's looking for a private they served with.
It starts to get awkward with Jason and another guy who is interested in Jessica. When he sees her kiss this other guy, Jason decides to leave with one of the college girls. In the car we hear Jason tells the girl he's not interested in sex. He says he'd probably blow her off anyway and doesn't want to be a jerk anymore.
Sam takes the pack to Marcus' body. Alcide shows up with Luna and he tells them he killed Marcus. Several bow to him as their new pack master but one very vocal wolf says he'll never bend the knee to Alcide, who says he does not want the position. Martha, who is Marcus' mother, turns into a wolf and she and other members of the pack begin eating Marcus' body.
Nora takes Bill and Eric to a boat, where they are given new identities. But suddenly, everybody other than Bill, Eric and Nora are killed and a voice tells them not to move in the name of The Authority as dozens of guards appear.
Sookie and Lafayette sit by Tara's burial spot. Pam climbs from the ground, not sure if it worked or not. Sookie starts to dig up Tara and it appears not to have worked. She weeps, as does Lafayette when Sookie shakes her head. Then Tara bursts out of the ground and comes at Sookie. Sookie screams for Lafayette as the episode ends.
