Girlfriends

Casting Cadence Lux and Anya Olsen as the best friends of the title was a good move -they look enough alike to make up an intriguing couple. (Jill Kassidy is yet a third lookalike that could have been considered.) But Missa X's script doesn't add up.

Show starts with the two doppelgangers coming home after a night out dancing, and Anya elects to stick around Cadence's house for some real girl-talk. I was intrigued by their gossip, including Cadence's recounting of a failed date where her boyfriend made unwelcome advances resulting in a well-placed kick to the groin. The two girls are in high spirits, making for an upbeat mood.

Lux's unseen housemate yells for them to keep it down in the noise department, and Cadence gives her friend a gift she's bought for her. It's a strap-on dildo, and while put off at first by such an inappropriate present, Anya is turned on, and Cadence straps on the toy, ready for action.

Unfortunately, at this point the vignette falls apart as porno logic replaces characterization and the romantic payoff one would expect. Best friends progressing into lovers is a classic theme, but the strap-on gimmick belongs in the gonzo tool-kit, not conducive to a romantic story. The seasoned actresses do their thing, but Missa's loyal audience deserves better.
