Beautiful stories, super annoying editing
emmalinamotes4 September 2022
The experiences shared in this show are incredibly touching and worth listening to. Whether or not you believe the spiritual side of the stories, there is something inspiring about listening to these people talk about how they overcame traumatic life or death situations. I would like to give 10/10 for this show, but the editing is absolutely terrible, so much so that I wanted to quit watching after the first episode. The editing is so bad it genuinely seems like a high schooler edited this. I wish they would have just stuck to one story at a time instead of switching back and forth between 4 or 5 different stories. As a result there is way too much repetition and an unnecessary amount of filler in between scenes.

I'm not sure if they ever used the term NDE but these are
dtg02-446-59209214 April 2022
If during the whole series not once was the term NDE used it's probably because they were told not to or don't know what they are but these accounts are all exactly that. And unlike all the rest of Hollywood these are genuine. That's what is amazing about the series. But they do use religious terminology and share their experiences describing to the best of their ability with our finite language an infinite realm and greater reality and from their own understanding unique to themselves. Wish this was an ongoing production. Love the fact they don't have a commentator ruining it like other documentaries do.

An Amazing show on Biography Channel
lorettathome25 November 2012
I Survived, Beyond and Back is an amazing series on the Biography Channel. The show has personal, true life accounts told by the actual survivors of horrific accidents, abductions, catastrophes etc.. These survivors tell of their near death experiences that happened 'while they died' and briefly visited 'the other side' before they came back into their bodies. One episode tells of a woman stuck in a fish cleaning machine that was stick on the ON position and grind her legs off as she was conscious but ultimately 'died' while being rescued, another story tells of being buried in an avalanche and dying and this man's experience seeing his grandparents and other deceased family members who told him he had to go back to his body as it was not his time to die. The stories are amazing and can change the way you feel about death, as well as your understanding about what lies on the other side of life. I highly recommend this show!

Life Changing

'I Survived..Beyond and Back' is the most beautiful, raw, transformative and transcending program I've ever seen. No actors and no embellishments. The intimate reliving and sharing of survivors is humanity at its best. Your heart will open to them, and personally, their stories have given me strength and peace as I mourn loved ones. Beyond.. Words.

Intensely Inspirational

Warning: Spoilers
Most of the participants in the series of episodes dealing with so-called 'near death experiences' are totally believable. Overall the tales are very comforting as they provide a glimpse into the hereafter and mostly depict it as a serenely peaceful and gloriously beautiful place. However, a few of the contributors seemed to have simply slipped into a deep dream state and although their hearts stopped beating for a certain amount of time their brain waves hadn't actually stopped working.

For instance in one particular story, told by a man named Marcus, he described Satan as an enormous 12 foot, red colored creature, half man and half beast with large curved horns - like on a buffalo - protruding from his forehead and hooves for feet. I immediately pictured a total resemblance to Tim Curry's characterization, of the Devil, in the movie "Legend" that also starred Tom Cruise. Marcus might very well have seen that movie but had forgotten it and when in the deep dream state, of an induced coma - while on life support - a memory of Tim Curry's role was dredged up out of his unconscious mind... Another dealt with fairies and given the somewhat flighty personality of the young woman whose story it was I got the impression she had only been dreaming as well.

Otherwise, those who underwent traumatic incidents resulting in their deaths seemed to have truly made short but profoundly meaningful journeys out of this world, into the next level of existence and back again. Without exception their visits to the other side provided them with a keener sense of spiritual awareness and completely alleviated any former fear of dying.

This is a surprising eye opener filled with first hand accounts of people from all different backgrounds who died and came back to share their experiences of the 'other side'. FASCINATING!

Everyone Should Watch This

I'm really not one for writing reviews. As some have mentioned here, this really can change your perspective on dying and relieves ALOT of the fears we all might have
