Exclusive: Peacock has acquired cutesy live-action kids series Mittens & Pants and is planning a Q1 2024 launch.
The NBCUniversal streamer has bought the first season, comprising 39 episodes, from Canada’s Thunderbird Distribution, the sales arm of Thunderbird Entertainment.
Children’s free streaming services HappyKids, Kidoodle.TV and the Common Sense Media-owned Sensical have also bought U.S. rights to season one. HappyKids will launch the show tomorrow (November 17) and Kidoodle plans to debut it on its AVoD and Fast services on November 30.
The series follows Mittens the kitten and Pants the puppy, best friends who live in the all-animal town of Kibble Corners. The series debuted in February 2023 on commissioning broadcasters CBC Kids in Canada and Sky Kids in the UK.
France Télévisions; Warner Bros. Discovery’s Cartoonito and Boomerang channels in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan; Hop! Channel in Israel and Dr in Denmark have since bought the first season.

Warner Bros. Discovery will rebrand its kids’ TV channel Boomerang to Cartoonito in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, with effect from July 28.
The company said that the “switch is a result of positive feedback to the Cartoonito-branded block on Boomerang and Cartoon Network launched in 2022, and is focused on being more inclusive to pre-school aged viewers.”
Sources close to the company explained that the move is “part of a big regional and global commitment by Wbd to preschool content.” It follows Cartoonito rebrands and launches in other international territories including Emea and LatAm.
As a full regional channel offering, Cartoonito will introduce a new generation to a diverse slate of original series and franchises. Modern preschool adaptations that support children’s potential include fan-favourite franchises such as “Batwheels” and “Bugs Bunny Builders.”

A Canadian actor and musician who won accolades from an early age is being remembered as an inspiring artist who lived “the best life” and continued to work even in her final days.
Samantha Weinstein, 28, died on May 14 at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Hospital after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer 2 1/2 years ago.
Weinstein had been acting since the age of six, with multiple credits to her name, including for voicing various characters in animated television series.
“Sam was actually a living embodiment of a sunbeam,” said her father, David Weinstein.
“She was so full of positive energy, anyone who ever met her would say that she just lit up every room she walked into.”
Weinstein played high school student Heather in the 2013 remake of “Carrie,” starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, and was cast as Audrey in the 2011 comedy “Jesus Henry Christ,” starring Toni Collette.
