Sex & Nudity

  • Rape is mentioned throughout, but not in detail. When the lead is assaulted, nothing is shown on screen. You see her walking alone at night, and a man following her. He knocks her out, and it cuts to another scene. When it cuts back to her, she is lying in the grass, with her skirt unbuttoned and her shirt ripped off, revealing her bra and stomach, and her upper legs. No graphic nudity is shown. The camera angle shows the man pulling his pants up, but you can't see above his calf.
  • Multiple references to prostitution, adultery, and sexual assault. Some female inmates are aggressive with the female lead in an implied sexual way, but nothing happens.
  • A few mild references to women having pretty bodies. A man stares at a young woman's legs.

Violence & Gore

  • An inmate stabs another inmate with what appears to be a pen. Not graphic.
  • A girl kills a man by hitting him repeatedly with a large stone. His body and injuries afterwards are not directly shown.

Profanity

  • Several uses of "f**k", "sh*t", "b**ch", etc.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The scene of implied rape may be triggering and intense for some viewers. While not graphically shown, it is heavy and disturbing. There are mild discussions of the incident throughout the show.
  • It has heavy scenes throughout, as it shows the female lead suffer the entire movie in different ways. There are many wholesome scenes as well, but it may be heavy for some to watch.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • The female lead discovers that she is pregnant while in prison. She makes a few failed attempts at killing the baby, such as stabbing her stomach with glass shards, and hitting her stomach (mostly off screen, only bruises shown). The possibility of abortion is discussed.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The female lead finds out she's pregnant while in prison. When she goes into labor, she has practically given up on life, so she doesn't make an effort to give birth. This is an intense scene and may be disturbing for some, but no graphic violence is shown. It is somewhat unclear if she and/or the baby survive, but it hints that they do.
