The Tower Series 1 was watchable enough but no great shakes. The second series starts a few months later.
DS Sarah Collins (Gemma Whelan) has moved to Homicide. Her new boss is a jerk and she has been given a cold case to examine. A girl called Tany went missing in 1997, on the day of Princess Diana's funeral. Her mother told her to change her outfit as it was too revealing to be wearing on the day the nation was in mourning.
Collins has few resources, but picks up an important lead. Collins manages to get some help but the woman detective she is saddled with is not too bothered to investigate.
Meanwhile PC Lizzie Adama (Tahirah Sharif) exonerated from misconduct charges lets her inexperience fail her again. She arrested a man for beating up his girlfriend. PC Adama thought their daughter would be at risk but later the girlfriend accuses Adama of pressuring her.
Watchable enough but it felt a bit like a reheated version of Prime Suspect. Scummy bosses, lazy colleagues, ineptness all round.
Collins investigation holds some promise after the first episode.
