While I doubt anybody had any serious expectations for Jingle Ma's Speed Angels, the premise itself surely could have yielded something more trashy and entertaining than this cinematic lemon. The story of three female racing drivers, whose personal lives overlap and intersect more often off the track than their cars do on it, is a terminable bore that struggles to get out of first gear. For every minute of onscreen racing, we must endure half an hour of insufferable melodrama, making a two-hour movie feel like Le Mans.Bing (Rene Liu) and Mei (Cecilia Cheung) are best friends as well as teammates in the Speed Angels all-girl motor racing team. However, on the day of her wedding, Bing discovers that her Japanese fiancé, Asano (Kitamura Kazuki)...

More promotional material for director Jingle Ma’s “Speed Angels” is coming at you, regardless of whether or not you’re ready to puke cheesy Chinese chunks all over your wireless keyboard. Below you’ll find four character posters from the oft-covered flick, which is set to open in theaters on December 28th, 2011. And I’m pretty sure about the release date this time around. Because, you know, it’s printed right there on the artwork. Pretty darn handy if you ask me. When you’re ready, direct your attention down yonder...

I’m not ashamed to admit that “Speed Angels” looks interesting. Okay, maybe just a little ashamed, but it’s totally manageable. If, like me, you’re oddly intrigued with this upcoming action-packed racing flick, then you’ll probably enjoy the embedded video. Even if you don’t speak the language, at least there are plenty of pretty things to look at. And I’m not talking about Jingle Ma. Strangely, I’m encountering three separate release dates for the flick, which is a little confusing. IMDb claims it will hit theaters in Hong Kong on December 29th, 2011, while the posters boldly proclaim the date to be December 28th, 2011. Adding to the confusion is the latest one-sheet, which has the film bowing on January 5th, 2012. My advice: Check local listings. The featurette, as well as the film’s trailer, lie below...

Well, it’s actually 35 seconds long, but I’d like to think that you get the idea. Below you’ll find the latest trailer for director Jingle Ma’s attractive racing flick “Speed Angels”, a Chinese motion picture that I am shamelessly excited to see. The film stars Tang Wei, Cecilia Cheung, and Rene Liu, three lovely ladies who find themselves at odds during a particularly intense championship race. Think “Days of Thunder” meets Corey Yuen’s “So Close”. Minus the martial arts, of course. If you missed the previously trailer, I’ve included that one, too...
