Narvik 1940 - Operation Juno: The Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and Hipper in action Part of Germans at War Week Part 1 (Part 2 coming in June 2022) Operation Juno was a German sortie to the North Sea during the Norwegian Campaign. The most notable engagement of the operation was German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau sinking British aircraft carrier HMS Glorious and its two escorting destroyers. Additionally several other Allied vessels were sunk in separate engagements. Chris Sams was born in Gillingham Kent and studied at King Alfred's College Winchester. Whilst at University he read History specialising in the Luftwaffe and the Second World War in Germany and Japan. He also studied Social History at post graduate level.
