The game we all love, now better than ever
Super_Bob14 September 2022
This remake is simply the best version of the best game, updated facial animations propel it's storytelling to new levels while the graphics portray the disturbingly beautiful reality of the game's world.

Many people will point to the price tag as being too high and I think most will agree but I'm reviewing the game itself and it's simply perfection. When you remake an already perfect game there's only so much that needs to change and although some may find this disapointing. I think the reality is that the game needed little change, these next gen improvements bring the experience to new heights and ultmattely creeating one of the best looking games to have been released. The price tag is a boundry to many but when the price becomes more afforsable I think we all owe it to ourselves to experience this masterpiece either for the first time or once more because ultimately the true value of a game is subjective to you.

Never ceases to amaze me

This is a beautiful adaptation of a classic video game. Ellie and Joel have never looked so realistic, along with the other characters like Henry, Sam, Tess, Bill and David. A very good connection to Part II's engine. Photo mode is great and even the collectibles are worth purchasing just for that. Well done Naughty Dog for your fabulous creation brought back to life again. Even though the original is only ten years old it has unfortunately aged a little bit and this in my opinion is well needed. Especially for those who missed the opportunity of playing it first hand. The game deserves so much credit and this will be worth playing.

Speechless (about this masterpiece)
khasrawbaraki2 September 2022
My The last of us review I'm so overwhelmed by this game right now. This game is like a delicious meal. When it ends you want so bad to have more of it but in some other way you are the most satisfied human being. The graphics are so amazing I can't even digest it. The story is so well done that I was left teary. And thinking about the ending is surprisingly just as deep as analyzing a good movie. I'm gonna talk about the ending later. This game tells the story of a man with a mission. He has to go across a post-apocalyptic america to deliver a little girl to a rebel group of survivors. As I came aware that it was involved a rebel group holding against the government I was worried. I said to myself oh this is so cliche but I was wrong. And i have to mention this was just a meaningless worry still having in my mind the Amazing prologue that I just witnessed. The setting the gameplay and the execution of what envelopes is superb in the prologue and in the whole game in general. The game is divided by season (I know it's weird but awesome). And every season ends with something big.i think might be winder but it's hard to pick one because they all are amazing but I'm just gonna go with winter now. The pacing and the way they are and experienced are awesome. Now what most gamers were worried about the gameplay. Let me say this. This game has the most fluid and satisfying gameplay that I have ever experienced. The way the gameplay combines with the atmosphere and story is done masterfully. It hes a level of intensity to it that hits you right in the brain's sweet spot. You have to carefully walk through dark hallways and smartly plan.

Brilliant remake of a classic!
samekhproductions3 September 2022
I know many were/are skeptical about this. But it is amazing! It is worth it! It's not just a dumb cash grab. There are very noticeable improvements. The graphics of course is the first noticeable difference between this and the original. Gameplay, cinematics, upgrades, and photo mode have improved. You can unlock new weapon and character skins. The customization and accessibility is wild. The animation has such greater details. The dust in the environment. The bugs crawling in nasty places. Tears in people's eyes. The greater emotions in their faces. Rain dripping off characters and items. Absolutely astonishing. The upgrading weapons animation is a wonderful addition. Of course, all of this is (plus more) is done without changing a single thing with the story. The story stays true to the original. The only thing that is kind of a bummer is that they didn't put the dodging in here. I totally understand why they didn't add prone or jump, because it really wasn't needed. But dodging would have been very useful. But it's not really that big of a deal. This would definitely be a great way to revisit the absolute masterpiece or to play it for the first time. And considering it will be released on PC soon, more gamers can enjoy this work of art.

11/10 absolute masterpiece!
mitxhq17 October 2022
From the moment this game starts within the first 5 minutes all hell has broke loose and it already has your full attention. From beginning to end it consistently keeps you on your toes and you never know what's about to happen next! Everything in this game feels so immersive from the movement to the guns, dialogue and most importantly the environment!

The graphics in this game are straight up gorgeous to look at! And the lush overgrown city is just so beautifully well done it's insane.

This game truely gives you the perfect feeling to what it would actually be like living in an apocalyptic world. Every building you go into has an insane amount of detail done to it but it also tells a story. It really shows you the panic of what a world like this would be to live in!

The infected in this game are super SUPER creepy due to how limited your resources are really making you strategise a way to get through every encounter you have before making one wrong move and dying! You always have to be quite and you're heart is racing because you know how easy it is to get yourself into a crazy situation if you make that one wrong move! But that's exactly why this game is as good as it is! And on top of the infected you also have the looters who aren't as bad but if you aren't careful with your resources and how you use them they can definitely be a challenge!

But the best part about this game is the father/daughter relationship you have with Ellie as the game goes on, at first they aren't to fond of the situation but as you both go through absolute hell together you start forming that really close friendship with her and will stop at nothing to keep each other alive!

This game is in every single way an absolute masterpiece and is 110% worth your money! 11/10 no questions asked!

I didn't think you can improve upon perfection but I was wrong.
DaGhoulJones7 October 2022
Ok so this is interesting because I was very hesitant towards the idea of a remake of The Last Of Us. The original game only came out in 2013. Less than 10 years ago so it just seemed unnecessary to me. When the game released I was shocked to see the reception to it was actually quite good so I decided to try it for myself and honestly I am not disappointed, this game looks and plays phenomenally. I can't get over big of a graphical overhaul this game was it looks absolutely gorgeous, it is easily one of the best looking games I've played and the gameplay is quite a bit smoother than it was in the original. The enemy AI is also greatly improved and adds a bit more of an extra challenge to the game. Overall I'm very impressed with this and for me personally as such a big fan of the original game, it is definitely worth £70.

Beautiful

Warning: Spoilers
The same amazing game we all love now with much improved graphics the fact that the creators manage to get your emotions going in the first 20 minutes of the game with the death of sarah and seeing the loss that joel experienced and watching him slowly warm up to Ellie is beautiful. No game will ever too it in my opinion. The perfect game and an absolute masterpiece. Even the side story "Left Behind" is a great side story it fills in a gap and answers many questions that were left open throughout the main story. Seeing how Ellie became infected And seeing how she treated Joel is great along with seeing what Ellie was doing before she met Joel.

Amazing Remake!!
tesseractzv7 September 2022
This was such a good remake with extraordinary graphic improvements! Joel and Ellie's design for this remake look so much better and realistic compared to the original one. I cant express enough how much I love this game and the fact that we got a remake for it really makes me happy. Tess looks much better as well, so does David and Bill. Man, I love this game so much!!

I am so glad that we got a remake! It deserves to be bought!

I am lost in words honestly, I just really love the father-daughter relationship between Joel and Ellie and the fact that we get it with much better graphics just makes me so happy. I will most likely play this game again even after already completing it once.

It was worth waiting
rafiz116 April 2023
My only disappointment is that it took so long for the PC release. I heard only positive things about the game many years ago, but only now I had the opportunity to check it out for myself. I read some reviews that compared The Last of Us to A Plague Tale: Requiem. In my opinion, this is not an accurate comparison because there is a gap between them. I was able to get to know the plot while watching the series and it didn't discourage me even once while playing. The controls deserve a lot of praise, which in games of this type can spoil the game. I got one kick out of the game due to an error, but the game saves so often that I didn't feel it.

More profound than any game to date
dodgerdooger26 November 2022
TLOU 1 &2 has sets this entirely new level of narration and experience for all forms of media .Nothing that I know has been this thought provoking and impacting , and trust me I know a lot .

These days ...man ..films and television is just becoming more & more dead on stories and most of them are just plain bullsh^t . On contrary video games keeps setting the bar higher for entertainment and experience .

Video games have definitely evolved as a platform that can be taken seriously for telling serious, authentic, and comprehensive stories.

And the last of us has so done its part in making so .

These games ,TLOU part 1 and 2 are much more than any games . They have been more profound to me than any piece of media has ever been .

A remake full of issues
mertafor24 November 2022
This is a horrible remake. I don't know how come no one mentioned that but there are so many bugs and inconsistencies, it's difficult to keep playing. I purchased the game on Black Friday, that being said I haven't played initial release and expected these issues have been addressed already.

I have beat this game more than 20 times and probably 5 or 6 of them was Grounded difficulty on PS3 then PS4. Now again I play grounded, but I've never come across such bugs with original game. Weird sections on the terrain you cannot climb, horrible NPC placement (either comes in between you and your target or causing you getting stuck in a corner. One time even Ellie pushed me into front of the enemy). They made the Grounded more difficult where enemies can see you from very far location, which makes sense and I liked it for a while. But on the downside it's almost impossible to go stealth on certain places. Furthermore enemies senses are very inconsistent, including clickers. Sometimes they hear you, sometimes don't. You try to grab the guy from behind and all of a sudden you open a drawer instead (no triangle shown). A few times game stuck while I was trying to pick up collectibles. Also occasionally enemies stuck behind an obstacle, and you cannot go further because of soft lock. So many arbitrary issues that is far from being hillarious, it's simply frustrating. Sometimes I cannot make sure if I passed the level because I played good or because of a bug. Also people talk about great graphics but especially Joel's clothes and animation almost look the same with original. Yes, water fx and lightning is pretty cool yet we play as Joel, he deserves the priority here. Only his face has become older and animations better. After finishing GOW Ragnarok last week, this feels like a negligent remake. Honestly I wanted to like this remake, I tried to put issues aside. However it's impossible to ignore. I was glad newcomes can enjoy this on next-gen yet this is an incomplete product.

Days Gone is better
PenetratorGod26 February 2024
It was one of PlayStation's worst PC ports ever. A year after its release, it's still unplayable. And it will never be fully fixed because the updates only included simple improvements for higher-end systems. There's no reason to play The Last of Us on PC when you already own a similar game, Days Gone, and the developers themselves have admitted as much by releasing The Last of Us in a horribly unoptimized state. I don't know which team worked on porting this game to PC, but if I were a Sony executive, I would fire them immediately and sue them for damages for their sloppy work. These people should be banned from working anywhere in the games industry ever again. The only reason for the game's recent positive ratings spike is the interest in the TV series and the nostalgia-obsessed fanbase on PS. Otherwise you need a $2500 PC to actually play this game. You can buy five PS5 consoles with that money.

The best game I ever played
casper-olsen-1935011 March 2023
This game is hands down the best game I have ever played.

The gameplay is engaging and interesting, and never feels dull. There is always things to explore and with a new play through you will see new things you didn't notice before.

The graphics are just stunning, you can really feel every emotion of the characters because of the level of detail, making it so much more impactful.

The voice acting is in a league of its own, nothing I have ever played really compares.

Where the game really shines though is with it's story. It is shocking how impactful the story is, both in good and bad ways. I have never tried any game (or movie for that matter) where I spent so much time reflecting afterwards. After my first play through, I was left completely mindblown, and could not grasp what I had just witnessed. It was a very sad feeling indeed, because I knew at that moment that I will most likely never experience anything as perfect as this again.

Neil Druckmann's philosophy of "Simple story, complex characters" is really put on display here, he really nailed it with the complexity of the characters, beautiful.

It is a bittersweet story of love and loss, it is a story of survival, and a story every person deserves to experience. If you have not tried this game before, I would seriously recommend you to join Joel and Ellie on their epic journey.

A Masterpiece of Storytelling and Gameplay
daniel_vatalin21 February 2023
The Last of Us Part 1 is a masterpiece of storytelling and gameplay that delivers a gripping and emotional journey through a post-apocalyptic world. From the opening moments of the game, it's clear that the developers at Naughty Dog have poured their hearts and souls into creating a rich and immersive experience that's unlike anything else in gaming.

One of the game's greatest strengths is its story, which follows the journey of Joel, a grizzled survivor, and Ellie, a young girl with a mysterious immunity to the deadly fungal infection that has decimated humanity. The relationship between these two characters is at the heart of the game, and it's a testament to the writing and voice acting that their interactions feel genuine and authentic, even in the face of the horrors they must endure.

The game's themes of love, loss, and survival are expertly woven into the narrative, creating a compelling and emotional experience that leaves a lasting impact on the player. The game's nonlinear structure, which allows players to explore and uncover the world's secrets at their own pace, further enhances the immersion and investment in the story.

Beyond its storytelling, The Last of Us Part 1 also boasts impressive gameplay that's both challenging and rewarding. The game's stealth and combat mechanics are well-balanced and responsive, requiring players to carefully strategize and utilize their resources in order to survive. The crafting system, which allows players to scavenge for supplies and create their own weapons and items, is also a clever and satisfying addition to the gameplay.

The game's graphics and sound design are equally impressive, with stunningly detailed environments and lifelike character models that bring the world to life. The soundtrack, composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, perfectly captures the game's melancholic tone and adds an extra layer of emotional depth to the experience.

In conclusion, The Last of Us Part 1 is a masterpiece of storytelling and gameplay that sets a new standard for narrative-driven games. With its engaging characters, emotional themes, and polished gameplay, the game delivers an unforgettable experience that stays with you long after the credits roll.

A game of not one, not two, but THREE generations
parrot00716 July 2023
The remastered version of The Last of Us from over 9 years ago, as well as the original game from 2013 was considered by many to be a perfectly crafted experience already. The Last of Us Part I is a remake of a remaster, and so is seen a level of polish that is extremely rare in games. It does sometimes show signs of its age, but overall the game has held up very well, and actually is STILL superior to the vast majority of new AAA games that only wish they could reach the level of passion The Last of Us has with its fans.

The gameplay refinements implimented from Part II, the accessibility options, and numerous quality of life improvements avalible now to PC owners too has expanded the game's audiance even further. This version of the game is a luxury item, propped up now by mainstream popularity thanks to the success of the show and Part II. It is just about as close to a perfect game as you can get.

A new perpsective on this video game
AvionPrince1630 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So yes i played that game way back in 2014 in my PS3 and now he came back as a pc version and i wanted to try it again: why? Because i saw also the TV show in the meantime so i had that kind of perspective of the show and i still get into it to be honest. I was still impressed by his graphics, visuals, characters, story who make me dived again into that world and that i really enjoyed to play it again. I can see also that some choices of the TV show was not really dumb ( Bill with Frank episode who really gave more depth, the mother who gave Ellie to the fireflies and Marlene.). It was quite interesting to see the changes and the things that they keep. A really good thing. I didnt finished yet the game on pc but i still remembered the end and the big events of it. And i need to say and that was the most shocking revelatiln that i had whenmi played its that the tv show didnt really give an honest representation of what the Ellie and Joel relationship was: in the game she was pretty calm and made some jokes but didnt really felt agressive and in the TV show she was really agressive and it was not the same effect too. So quite of disappointing. And also the variety of the monsters was more impressive in the video game. It is pretty limited on the tv show. So yeah i prefer the video game over the tv show but its still pretty good and had some great ideas that was pretty smart and some dialogues that they used to give the tv show more depth. So yeah its still a pleasure after 4 years to play it again and i was happy to see why and understand more some choices of the TV show. A nice video game anyway that i still recommend despite the major problems of performance and stability that game encounter at this moment but it will never destroy or altered the quality of the immersion, the world, the stories, the characters. Still a great pleasure.

A Landmark Experience with Impressive Visual Upgrades
kevinmartell-9955417 December 2022
There are few video games as beloved or important as The Last of Us. Originally released in 2013, the game was a landmark for the medium because of how cinematic, grounded, and story driven it was. While far from the first game to utilize motion capture technology, it was the first game to implement it in such a way that you could tell actors were giving collaborative, deep, heartfelt performances on screen for extended periods of time. The realism of the cinematics opened the door for The Last of Us to challenge contemporary criticisms about video games - Those who claimed that games could never reach the heights of films were suddenly faced with a game that looked and felt just like a film. Now, almost a decade later, the game has been remade as The Last of Us Part I for the PS5.

Visual Upgrades: The original game still looks pretty good by today's standards, but The Last of Us Part I has received enough visual upgrades that it now stands as one of the best-looking video games on the market. Every asset is improved, from character models to buildings to foliage, but what really stands out are the character facial animations, which are approaching lifelike levels and truly took me aback at times.

Gameplay Upgrades: Gameplay hasn't been touched nearly as much as visuals, although there are new accessibility options that can improve the experience for anyone. For example, the added ability to automatically pick up resources is a must. Enemy and squad artificial intelligence was said to be enhanced, but while I did personally notice some improvements, I also saw some things that still feel last generation, such as Ellie walking out right in front of enemies and them not reacting.

How Does It Hold Up?: The Last of Us is still a great game, and Part I is easily the definitive way to experience it. As is to be expected, the video games industry has caught up in some respects, primarily in terms of actor performances and cinematic storytelling. In some ways, the game no longer feels as revolutionary or unique as it once did, but in others, it remains a timeless classic. The way that you begin to care for Joel and Ellie as they embark on their cross-country journey is simply unmatched by most other games. In terms of gameplay, it still lags behind its sequel but is an overall excellent experience on higher difficulties, where resource scarcity and sturdy enemies require a more immersive, tactical approach. That said, I do think there were some missed opportunities to really bring it up to par with the competition, such as adding a melee dodge mechanic.

Conclusion: I recommend The Last of Us Part I to experienced players, but I strongly recommend it to new players.

TLoU: Part 1 is the definitive experience...but it can't quite justify its full-price release
phoenix-prjct18 January 2024
The Last of Us is a gaming phenomenon that went for the world's jugular when it was first released back in 2013 (damn, a decade, now that makes me feel old). I've yet to see anything since capture its potent emotion and pace, to break and mend my heart over and over again. It's pure lightning in a bottle, from its heartfelt plotting, its unbelievably real characters, to its weighty, punchy gameplay.

That was all in a game released ten years ago, so how does Naughty Dog's remake stack up, and, more importantly, is it worth its full-price release?

Outstandingly beautiful and engaging, The Last of Us: Part 1 is the definitive way to enjoy one of the best and must-play experiences ever released. However, the original holds up just as well, and if you can't justify the expensive price tag for the remake, don't. Wait for it to come down or pick up the original for much, much cheaper.

Worth your time
8512226 April 2024
Greetings from Lithuania.

The Last of Us Part 1 is a perfect video game. Damn, I will even call it one the best things I've had a pleasure to witness on TV.

If you have never played this masterpiece do you self a favour and do it, the PS5 version is the ultimate experience. Graphics were outstanding and even my jaw dropped a bit when starting this latest version, and it comes from one who played this masterpiece for like 8 times or so.

Overall, best video game of time (period) on its best performance - you can't go wrong with The Last of Us. It's a unforgettable journey that you have to immerse yourself in at least once in you life time. It's wort you time.
