Evil Dead Meets My Name Is Earl
shawnblackman16 October 2014
This movie takes a comedic and light look at demonic possession. The central character is a Jason Lee type doing his My Name Is Earl with attitude.

You do laugh out loud but it does sometimes get ridiculous in parts. One scene in particular where the groom ,who has just lost three fingers and part of his ear, decides to squeeze in a quick game of beach volley ball with the ladies.

Sid Haig makes a colourful appearance which always makes any film better. You won't be grossed out as the violence is kept tame concentrating more on comedy.

It's a good Friday, Saturday night movie. It's not going to inspire you or make you think but you'll be entertained nonetheless.

Beware, this is a BAD ride!

I rented this video due to the high rating and the good external ratings. I was fooled again!! This is a low quality film that is neither a decent comedy nor a decent horror film. The effects are poor, the acting is poor and basically every aspect of this film is poorly done! I am getting tired of being fooled by reviews and ratings by those affiliated with the project. I now am more careful but still get fooled at times. Count this as one of those times! Horror films used to be one of my favorite genres, it is now my worst due to the countless lousy titles out there. It is the easiest kind of video to make, don't need much of a script or plot and just follow thee template for horror films. I think we should all make a concerted effort to STOP watching this videos, they do not deserve an audience!

light blend of entertaining humor-horror

Campy in a funny way with witting dialogue and interesting quirks in the acting of the three main characters. The scenes are reminiscent of familiar surroundings , such as to be appreciated more than if they were computer generated. The movie is entertaining, but not necessarily in a scary way. There are a few times that you get that scary jump feeling. Great fun, some funny scenes and over all entertaining. If you do no take yourself too seriously in viewing this rather unique blend of horror comedy , then indeed you will be happy with its entertainment genre. The acting is quite good, yet there are times that you are drawn in by how amateur a certain look appears that than just captures you in a smiley way. I would recommend this movie because it does not take itself over the top serious, but allows you to laugh out loud, while at the same time facing the reality of it horror presentation.

Worth the Ride!!!

This a fun film that does a great job of blending comedy and horror. 2 guys driving to Vegas in a van with a possessed bride, sounds fun to me!!! The great Sid Haig is awesome and is surprisingly very funny. (I just thought of him as a scary guy) The chemistry between the actors is really what sold it for me. Travis spit out some hilarious lines and poor Hank just gets beat up for the entire film- which is very funny. The movie is scary, crude and hilarious, but what most surprised me is the amount of heart the film has. The adventure is ridiculous but you end up caring about the main characters. I had a fun time with this film. I would recommend this to any horror comedy fan. If you like Shaun of the Dead, Evil Dead 2, Ghostbusters you will no doubt dig Devil in My Ride and want to buy Sid Haig's shark painting. (When you watch the film you will know what I'm talking about.)

YOU MAKE ME FEEL LIKE A JC PENNY MODEL

Warning: Spoilers
Travis (Frank Zieger) is our over-the-top main character who provides the comedy by supplying us with too much information about his life. On his way to his estranged sister Doreen's (Erin Breen) wedding he makes an unauthorized acquisition of a diablo necklace as a wedding gift. At the reception, Travis inadvertently causes his sister to become demonically possessed to the dismay of Hank the groom (Joey Bicicchi) as she goes Mike Tyson all over the wedding party.

With the passing of Zelda Rubinstein into the next realm, the only person left to consult is Sid Haig in a cameo. Sid recommends Johnny Priest (Llou Johnson) an exorcist in Las Vegas, a man who sounds like Tony Todd. The bulk of the film is consumed by a road trip, hence the title.

The comedy is mostly in the dialogue which starts to fade in the second half of the road trip. No real horror due to the comedy factor. Worth a view.

Parental Guide: F-bombs. Implied sex. No nudity .
