Jimmy Kimmel grilled people about fake movies Thursday in the Oscar edition of “Lie Witness News.” While workers were setting up the red carpet and the bleachers for the 88th Academy Awards this Sunday, Kimmel’s video crew asked pedestrians for their thoughts on this year’s hits including, “Citizen Kane 2,” “Little Man, Big Motorcycle,” “Koala Cop” and the biggest movie of the year, “Vampire Dog.” “Do you think ‘Citizen Kane 2’ didn’t get nominated because of Kevin James‘ performance?” asked the interviewer. With the 88th Academy Awards on Sunday, February 28th, Jimmy Kimmel Live! hit the streets to grill strangers' fake movie knowledge in a hilarious "Oscars Edition" of "Lie Witness News." The premise is simple: stick a camera and microphone in front of people's faces, ask them about absurd, non-existent film moments from the past year and watch them feign knowledge in an attempt to gain cool points.

Though it was a pretty good year for movies, 2012 has for the most part sucked. False raptures, non-existent Armageddons, Norm MacDonald's Vampire Dog... enough already! It's with great pleasure that we give this year the proverbial finger and officially look forward to lucky '13!
There has been some good, though. We got ourselves a televised segment on the Travel Channel show "Paranormal Paparazzi," and we've grown as a site exponentially. This was all in no small part to you cats, whom we are extremely grateful for. You keep readin', we'll keep writin'! 2013 is looking pretty good horror-wise what with titles like Mama, The Conjuring, Carrie, Evil Dead and much, much more on the horizon, and you can be sure we'll be right here dishing out the good, the bad, and of course the ugly.
So goodbye, 2012! Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out!

Norm MacDonald must need some quick cash, because he has signed on to voice a dog in a movie called "Vampire Dog," the trailer for which has gone viral, mostly because it's so bad that it looks like a spoof of family movies. But it's a real film and you can watch the trailer below. Plot: Ace (Collin MacKechnie) is just like any other new kid at school, until he inherits Fang (MacDonald), his grandfather's Transylvanian dog. Fang, however is no ordinary canine. He's really a "vampire dog," that licks jelly from a bowl and even speaks English. Together, the two misfits discover that with a little teamwork and courage, anything is possible. The new movie is directed by Geoff Anderson, a visual FX supervisor on such films as "Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch" and "Snow Buddies." It's set to hit stores on DVD on September 25th. Trailer:...

In this day and age, it's becoming harder and harder to distinguish YouTube parody videos from genuinely bad stuff. So when a trailer for a movie called Vampire Dog hits the web and happens to go viral, it's easy to assume that it must be a joke. But no, as it turns out, this is a real direct-to-dvd movie that will be hitting store shelves next week and it looks pretty hilarious. The story revolves around a boy named Ace (Collin MacKechnie), who inherits his grandfather's Transylvanian dog, Fang. What he doesn't know is that the dog is also a vampire. Norm MacDonald voices Fang, which makes this feel even more like some sort of meta-parody of terrible family films. However, the fact that it is directed by Geoff Anderson, a visual FX supervisor on such films as Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch and Snow Buddies, says otherwise. Whether or not it is truly self-aware,...

Poor Norm MacDonald. Or, better yet: why, Norm MacDonald?
From the outset of the trailer for Vampire Dog, its clear that neither a good story or quality acting are going to be the selling point for this live-action, talking dog movie, but there could be enough casual interest from thirteen-year-old boys with nothing to do on a weekend night to at least make back the movie's budget in rentals. But when the vampire dog speaks for the first time, and MacDonald's hard-to-miss nasal whine can be heard coming out of the dog's mouth, it's hard not to cry out to the heavens: "No!" — even if one is only a casual MacDonald fan.
So what's the plot? It's the usual "boy inherits vampire dog from Transylvanian grandfather" story with an added layer of ridiculousness that includes a "mad scientist" named Dr. Warhol who wants the dog's blood for her anti-aging cream.

Perhaps you have asked yourself when our cultural obsession with vampires will finally wane. The answer: today.
As a serious journalist, I am proud to present to you the trailer for a new film called Vampire Dog. Shot with admirable low-budget, no-frills charisma, it looks to be a proudly abysmal film that will embarrass the cast later in life — if it doesn’t already embarrass them now. Former Saturday Night Live funnyman Norm Macdonald voices the 600-year-old dog, Fang. Perhaps the possibility of this fate is why Jason Sudeikis decided to return to SNL.

Let's just get the nastiness out of the way. Bitter curmudgeon Rupert Everett is of the opinion that gay parents are awful. “I can’t think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads. Some people might not agree with that. Fine! That’s just my opinion. I’m not speaking on behalf of the gay community. In fact, I don’t feel like I’m part of any ‘community’. The only community I belong to is humanity and we’ve got too many children on the planet, so it’s good not to have more.” Well, I can't imagine anything worse than kids being brought up by two dads if one of them is Rupert Everett. Get over yourself, and maybe if you weren't such a hateful queen, people might hire you to act more.
For perhaps the best possible response to Rupert that will bring a tear to your eye,...

Direct-to-dvd movies about cute doggies and puppies have quietly become a cottage industry. So why not one about a boy who befriends an adorable talking Vampire Dog? Did I mention this mutt-feratu is voiced by comedian Norm McDonald? Not a joke. Watch the trailer.
E1 Entertainment will release Vampire Dog on DVD September 25th. This Canadian kiddy vampire doggy flick stars Collin Makechnie, Julia Sara Stone, Amy Matysio, Ronald Peterson, and Norm McDonald as the last guy you’d ever expect to hear cast as the voice of the 600-year-old vampire dog named Fang.
Was Chevy Chase not available? I thought he was the official go-to ex-“Saturday Night Live” cast member for talking dog movies?
Synopsis:
Ace is just like any other new kid at school, until his grandfather from Transylvania dies at age 96 and sends him his dog, Fang. Ace soon discovers that Fang is a vampire dog - and he speaks English!

It wasn’t until I watched Mr. Plinkett’s hilarious review of Cop Dog that it truly hit me how many low budget direct-to-dvd kiddy doggy flicks there have been. It doesn’t look anyone’s going to drive a stake through this subgenre’s heart anytime soon, and that’s a good thing because a Vampire Dog is coming to sink his adorable fangs into your neck.
Seriously, watch that Mr. Plinkett review where he runs down a seemingly endless list of DVD dog movies. It just goes on forever. Adding a bit of a ghoulish twist isn’t out the question either given this year alone has spawned Spooky Buddies, Monster Mutt, and The Dog that Saved Halloween. Now Canadian Tax Shelter Theater, in association with Trilight Entertainment and Joker Films, proudly presents Vampire Dog.
