The Heart of the matter...
poe42611 October 2014
THE WALKING DEAD can now take it on the arches; Z NATION is z-grade and can move to the back of the line. By FAR the best zombie show on television is TOWN OF THE LIVING DEAD. Sure, these folks have been at it for six years, now, and they're either "two-thirds of the way through" or "half-way finished," depending on who you ask, but the fact that they're still AT it is the important thing. (And SyFy, that purveyor of cgi-driven drivel, has promised to actually AIR the movie if they ever finish it.) The star suffers from stage fright and the pyrotechnics guy has to call in a local pyromaniac to help him blow up a boat (which happens when the camera isn't even rolling) and the alleged director is almost run down by his own brother (if I'm not mistaken), but it's the sheer HEART of these people that deserves mention: despite having no money, very little discernible talent, and probably NO high school education(s), they persevere. TOWN OF THE LIVING DEAD has HEART- and that's all that really matters.

(Update: 11/12/14: Caught the SyFy Channel premiere of THR33 DAYS DEAD last night/this morning and it was more fun than a barrel of pickled heads. The sole scene directed by Robert Englund was, not surprisingly, the best scene in the movie, but hats off to the entire cast and crew: They got 'er done and got 'er aired. No small accomplishment. Low/no budget movies like EQUINOX, DARK STAR and ERASERHEAD took at least four years each to get made, and THE DEAD NEXT DOOR may've taken a year or two longer- but all of them got it done, and THR33 DAYS DEAD deserves whatever success comes its way: the cast members are all likable, and the movie has an honesty of execution lacking in all too many of the polished product we see on television these days.) (Note number two: I'm reviewing THR33 DAYS DEAD here because the page for the movie here on the IMDb isn't allowing comments to be posted just yet.)

Town of the Living Dead Short Film
lwatts-2136613 June 2021
It was a lot of fun making this short film in 2011. I enjoyed watching it too. I would've gave it 10/10, but I was left off the full cast list. It only lists 5 people out of the whole thing. Disappointing to find out.
