Pretentious exercise, porn by default
It plays like an unreleased (and unreleasable) movie, resurrected from the vaults for a video generation. As its pompous, pointless title suggests, this is closer to would-be Underground Cinema than above-ground pornography.
With poor sound recording, the mainly MOS feature begins with auditions for a role, judged by one "Joe E. Hype -porno king". Framed by an American flag for significance, a girl masturbates for him, using a candle as a dildo.
Following sequences feature a romantic Julianne Moore-type girl (played by the fabulous Clair Dia) on the shore with a red-headed boyfriend and even horseback riding.
Presumably the film's scriptwriter appears at his typewriter with artsy soft-focus/distorted porn footage inserted, as he wanders around, runs away in speeded-up Mack Sennett fashion and comically ends up in a strait jacket.
To the accompaniment of a xylophone/percussion score, film becomes increasingly abstract, with two beautiful women having an XXX threesome with the writer, all in strait jackets at times. After "Living Theater" dancing around the footage is reversed causing the strait jackets to be put back on. Intentionally misspelled end credits are tongue in cheek, reading: "Staring {sic} Buddy Sigmund, Anama Anis and some poor girl found in the ward".
By including explicit hardcore footage in an otherwise mockingly "experimental" film, what emerges is neither fish nor fowl. Without a curious latter-day video audience, it would likely have ended up truly underground, namely buried in a landfill.
