Hollywood star Patrick Stewart famously portrayed Professor X in the original X-Men franchise alongside a stellar ensemble cast. However, when the 2011 film First Class rebooted the series as a prequel, a fresh cast was introduced, with James McAvoy stepping into the role of Charles Xavier. And the now-83-year-old actor graciously supported McAvoy taking on the role of Professor X.
A still from the X-Men franchise
While he was more than pleased to see McAvoy embodying the younger version of his character, there were moments when Stewart admitted to feeling a bit unsettled by the sight of the 44-year-old actor inhabiting the iconic role he had portrayed for years.

James McAvoy knew just what needed to be done to make his mark in the X-Men franchise as Professor X after Patrick Stewart’s unforgettable performances.
The best thing about bringing comic book characters to life is that they are not limited to just one actor. Over time, many actors have replaced each other in order to bring our favorite superheroes to life. However, sometimes a person is so perfect for a role that you cannot ever imagine someone else in their shoes. The best example to support this statement is Patrick Stewart and his run as Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X.
Sir Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in X-Men: The Last Stand
The actor has become synonymous with the role, having played him in several X-Men films, except X-Men: First Class. In this film, James McAvoy took over the responsibility of playing a younger Professor X.

There’s a perplexing choice at the heart of “Little Death,” directed by Jack Begert, best known for his work in music videos. That choice is essentially to make two very different movies and smash them together. If you squint closely, you can see the thematic throughlines between them, both stories about addiction told through different prisms, but while one is grating, the other is deftly told. You just have to make it through the first to get to the one that is more elegantly executed.
Begert is primarily a music video director with credits like Olivia Rodrigo’s recent “get him back!” and Jack Harlow’s Fergie-sampling “First Class” under his belt. The hyperactive visual style of that genre is on full display in the first half of “Little Death,” which is narrated by a depressed, misogynistic television writer named Martin played by David Schwimmer and, eventually, Gaby Hoffmann,...

Rapper Jack Harlow is facing backlash on social media from fans who labeled his halftime show during the Thanksgiving Detroit Lions versus Green Bay Packers NFL game as one of the worst in football history.
The Lions had been down 23-6 when the end of the second quarter came around, the rapper then sang a short compilation of his own songs such as “First Class” and “What’s Poppin.”
On Thanksgiving Day, the X user @Jaypotta posted: “That Jack Harlow halftime show may have been the worst halftime show in the history of Thanksgiving day halftime shows.”
Another snarked: “Total budget for Jack Harlow halftime show = $49.99.”
Chris Long, a former football defensive end, said: “I told my kid if he wants to buy his music he’s gotta get a job.”

"Superman: Legacy" keeps coming together; Nicholas Hoult will reportedly be joining the James Gunn-directed superhero film as Lex Luthor, the Man of Steel's enduring yet all too human archnemesis. At this time, Deadline is reporting that Hoult has a locked deal with Warner Bros but The Hollywood Reporter claims the deal is still being negotiated (and was already in talks before the SAG-AFTRA strike earlier this year).
Previously, it had been confirmed that Superman himself would be played by relative newcomer David Corenswet ("Pearl") while Rachel Brosnahan ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel") has been cast as Lois Lane. Now, Hoult rounds out this trio as the other most important "LL" in Clark Kent's life. Another villain has already been confirmed to be in "Superman: Legacy" (The Engineer as played by María Gabriela De Faría), but I can't imagine that character will take precedence when Lex Luthor is in the picture.

Pour a glass of fine sherry and dust off your dictionary because “Fraiser” is back, nearly 20 years after the Kelsey Grammer-led series initially went off the air. However, while the original series ran like Emmy-winning, 24-episode clockwork for more than a decade on NBC, “Frasier” returns in 2023 as a streaming series on Paramount+.
That means the new “Frasier” series has a tighter episode count — and except for a CBS debut for the first two episodes, you won’t be able to watch it on broadcast TV.
With that in mind, here’s a complete guide to the upcoming “Frasier” episodes, how many to expect and when new episodes premiere.
Where is the new “Frasier” series streaming?
“Frasier” is now streaming exclusively on Paramount+.
CBS will also aired a special broadcast of the first two episodes on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is no stranger to bringing high-concept comic book shenanigans to the silver screen. Still, he wonders if there’s a point where poor decisions, shortcuts, and oversaturation could create a fatigue even Hollywood’s comic book movie boom can’t defeat. Speaking with ScreenRant at New York City-Comic-Con, Vaughn let his discontent about the current state of comic book cinema be known.
“I genuinely don’t know what’s happening with the superhero [genre] in the sense that, I do think, maybe we all need a little bit of time off from it,” Vaughn said. “Maybe someone will make something so great that we will get excited again… Superhero films are films. It’s a film that has superheroes in it. I think what happened was that they became superheroes, and the film part wasn’t that important.”

Before Matthew Vaughn earned critical acclaim for rebooting the “X-Men” movie franchise with 2011’s “X-Men: First Class,” he was courted to replace Bryan Singer as the director of 2006’s “X-Men: The Last Stand.” That tentpole served as the third film in the storyline led by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, but Vaughn recently revealed at New York City Comic-Con (via ScreenRant) that he rejected the offer to direct the sequel after discovering a studio executive’s plan to deceive Halle Berry into reprising her role as Storm.
“One of the main reasons I quit ‘X-Men 3,’ and this is a true story,” Vaughn said. “I went to an executive’s office and I saw an ‘X3’ script. It was a lot fatter. I asked, ‘What is this draft?’ They were like, ‘Don’t worry about it.’ So I grabbed it, and opened the first page, and it said, ‘Africa. Kids dying from no water,...

Matthew Vaughn is revealing the lengths Fox went to to ensure Halle Berry’s return to the “X-Men” franchise for third film “X-Men: The Last Stand.”
Vaughn, who was slated to direct the 2006 movie, revealed during the 2023 New York Comic Con (via The Hollywood Reporter) that a fake script was allegedly created for Halle Berry, catering to her vision for superhero character Storm. After Berry agreed to reprise the role, the script would be axed, according to Vaughn’s interpretation of the events.

“Though we are not now that strength which in old days moved Earth and heaven, that which we are, we are.” Almost 20 years ago, in Frasier’s series finale, Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) quoted those words from a poem by Lord Alfred Tennyson to close out his final radio broadcast. With Grammer’s return to his beloved role, it’s a pleasure to find that while much has been taken from Frasier, including its iconic Seattle setting and most of its supporting cast, the series can still deliver a distinct brand of wry humor.
That’s largely thanks to Frasier himself, a role that still fits Grammer like a glove. All of the old mannerisms are still there: the sly smirk with which he tosses droll one-liners, the petted lip when someone sends one back, the furious glare when confronted with a crime against fashion or furnishing. And when the...

Ever since they split in 2017, Fergie and Josh Duhamel have been coparenting their son, Axl, and generally seem to have a positive relationship. The pair first met in 2004 and welcomed Axl in 2013, but they announced their separation in 2017 and finalized their divorce two years later.
Since splitting from Duhamel, Fergie has seemingly remained single and seems to be focusing most of her energy on parenting Axl. It can seem like "superhero movie" is an automatic greenlight in Hollywood these days. Yet, the genre is still littered with unrealized projects.
One is "X-Men Origins: Magneto." True to its title, it would've chronicled the early years of the X-Men's arch-foe. If any Marvel villain could sustain an origin movie, it's Magneto, who has one of the boldest backstories in superhero comics. In the 1980s, "X-Men" comic writer Chris Claremont desired to revitalize Magneto, to make him "a more credible adversary, but also a more credible person." That meant offering a reason for why he believed in mutant supremacy. Claremont considered what was known about Magneto and struck upon brilliance:
"Magneto had to have come to adolescence, and possibly come of age, in the Second World War. And he certainly looked European. And what would have given him such an extreme attitude toward mutant-human relations? [...] The next corollary was,...

For years, Hollywood has tried relentlessly to bring to life the exciting and diverse team dynamic of one of Marvel’s most iconic and best-selling comic book franchises- The X-Men. With 11 live action films and billions of studio dollars given to them over the years, you’d think we’d have covered the best stories from the pages and brought them into cinema. And while I think there are plenty of good moments hidden in these movies, and some movies in the franchise that are beyond expectations, I also think that the true potential of the X-Men and their complicated, interpersonal nuance has yet to be fully realized on the big screen.
That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy movies like the original X-Men, and First Class, and of course Logan, which is easily the most bleak and disturbing film that Fox has ever made with Jackman as Wolverine.

When Marvel acquired the rights to distribute their version of X-Men, long-time fans were overjoyed. Fox has achieved more misses than hits when it comes to using the X-Men property. Logan is an absolute classic, and films like X-Men: Days of Future Past and First Class are considered great. However, Dark Phoenix and New Mutants weren’t a good look for the franchise overall. Still, Fox did a solid job of incorporating classic comics into the live-action spectrum. Needless to say, there have been enough films in the X-Men canon to see the mistakes the X-Men reboot should avoid. In total, Fox...

“Jack Harlow’s new album [‘Jackman’] is actually pretty solid and a strong rap album, compared to his last one … The album is only 24 minutes in length, but I wonder if it has a chance at a Best Rap Album nomination?” wonders Gold Derby user Moment 4 Life in our forums. Several posters have been heatedly debating the subject ever since the surprise album dropped on April 28. Join their discussion on this and other rap categories here.

Actor Michael Fassbender impressed both fans and critics alike with his portrayal of the classic X-Men character Magneto.
But Fassbender quipped that his role as Magneto was just used to clinch another iconic cinematic character in James Bond.

Fassbender didn’t specifically audition for his role in X-Men: First Class. The reboot was directed by Matthew Vaughn, and saw Fassbender portray a younger version of Ian McKellen’s Magneto. But he acquired the part while pursuing another gig.
“Director saw me in an audition for one of his other films and just thought that I would be right for this. So I spoke to him and he sent over the script, all top secret – somebody comes with it, waits, you read it in a couple of hours or however long it...

Jack Harlow is all about putting his native Louisville on the map. On Monday, the rap star dropped a visual for “They Don’t Love It” from his recently released Jackman LP where he calls himself the best white rapper after Eminem and shouts out parts of his hometown.

Jack Harlow wants us to start taking him seriously, and Jackman, the Louisville rapper’s third studio album, seems hellbent on confirming exactly why he’s deserving of this newfound respect. Clocking in at a brisk 24 minutes, the album’s 10 songs are tight, tautly delivered verbal torrents that carry little of the pop-crossover appeal that Harlow has become known for. Instead, he gets introspective—or, at least, gets as introspective as one could expect from the dude who’s written songs like “First Class” and “What’s Poppin.”
Jackman’s minimalist approach feels like a conscious rebuke to the commercial trappings of last year’s tepidly received Come Home the Kids Miss You, and is, oddly enough, reminiscent of J. Cole’s similarly spartan 2014 Forest Hills Drive in terms of its form and content. Jackman is filled to the brim with humorless Cole-esque struggle bars about how Harlow is putting...

Jack Harlow dropped in with a mid-week announcement, revealing that his third studio album will arrive this Friday, April 28. Brett Ratner's 2006 superhero film "X-Men: The Last Stand" is set in the near future, and features a climax wherein the powerful mutant Magneto (Ian McKellen) floats a portion of the Golden Gate Bridge through the air using only his magnetic powers. Dozens of characters appear, several of them lose their mutant powers thanks to an anti-mutation serum, and others die outright. So many dramatic things occurred, it seemed difficult to continue the film series in a cogent way; it didn't seem that the studio could still incorporate the X-Men heroes audiences had come to love.
20th Century Fox, as a solution, began producing a series of flashback prequel films about the X-Men characters in their respective youths. The fourth film in the X-Men series was called "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and it told the story of how Logan (Hugh Jackman) came to have his metal skeleton and how he lost his memory,...

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles were among the big winners at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards Monday night, with Swift taking home song of the year for “Anti-Hero,” and Styles being named artist of the year.
Swift also received the Innovator Award for her impact globally to pop culture. According to iHeartRadio, the Grammy-winning artist has not only had a successful career but has been an “advocate for women’s rights and the LGBTQ+ community, using her music and platform to inspire young people to use their voting power.”
After the award was presented by Phoebe Bridgers, Swift was quick to admit that she felt “flattered” to receive the award.
While reflecting on her career, Swift said she always tried to “make the right decision” for herself at the time “whether or not it had ever been successfully done before.” Though oftentimes in the industry many “want an example of something working before,...

The Brits 2023 are officially over for another year, and it was Harry Styles's night. As predicted, the "As It Was" singer took home artist of the year, song of the year, best pop / r&b, and album of the year - marking the start of a very good 2023 for the former One Direction member, having won the best album award at the Grammys just a week earlier. Wet Leg and Beyoncé both won two Brits, while The 1975, Aitch, and Becky Hill also scooped the top prizes.

Get our hopes up with a Dark Phoenix storyline once? Shame on you. Get our hopes up with the storyline twice? Shame on us.
Of course, if the box office returns were any indication, nobody actually got their hopes up for a Dark Phoenix-themed X-Men movie the second time around. The movie came and went with poor reception from audiences and critics alike, serving as the final nail in the coffin for this particular string of "X-Men" movies. Not only did the movie perform poorly by every metric available, but nobody seemed particularly surprised by its performance either, which begs the question: what exactly was it that soured us on the movie before it even hit theaters?
