A month has passed since the liars were arrested and they're at each others' throats and Emily has been iced out completely. But what could have divided them so severely, has "A" finally won the game of divide and conquer?—ABC Family Publicity

ONE MONTH LATER

We open with the girls doing community service picking trash. Emily and Spencer argue because Spencer doesn't like her idea to make a deal with A. Emily thinks Spencer's mother being a lawyer is an advantage the rest of them don't have. The two end up fighting and have to be separated. Garrett watches from a car and smiles.

Ashley and Hanna argue over her being civil to Emily. Emily wasn't taken back to Texas with her parents because it would have ruined the plea deal. Tom got married after all. Emily comes downstairs and Hanna leaves. Ashley tells Emily she's upset to see her and Hanna fighting. Emily gets a fax that makes her happy.

Aria and Mike talk about his new therapist. Things seem to be going well for her brother. They run into Ezra on the street. Ezra and Aria awkwardly reference not having seen each other recently. When Mike walks away briefly Aria apologizes to Ezra. She tells Ezra she had to separate given all the recent craziness with the police.

Spencer has a contentious interaction with Garrett. She talks about Jenna and his ties to Jason and Ian. She wonders about Jason, who hasn't been seen since their arrest.

Emily's ulcer is completely under control but her swim coach isn't going to let her back on the team because of the legal issues.

Emily and Spencer have another run-in in the hallway. They knock each other's books out of their hands and Ella has to step in. While they pick up their stuff Emily gets a text from A: "You were always my favorite. Want to make a deal?" She goes to the blackboard and circles the word 'yes.'

Aria tells Hanna about the conversation with Ezra. Hanna tells her she had no choice but to break up with him, particularly with Jackie in the picture. Emily walk by them and they immediately brush her off.

When Emily goes to her locker we see that she grabbed one of Spencer's books. Inside is a note that says "10 TONIGHT."

Lucas has been helping Hanna by deleting pictures online of her taken during roadside community service.

Byron and Ezra talk about combining classes. Byron tells him he's getting through his family stuff "one day at a time." Ezra says he doesn't think Aria would ever do anything to hurt her parents.

Toby waits for Spencer at her place. She hasn't been answering his calls. Melissa is having heart issues and is seeing a specialist in Philadelphia. Spencer tells him about the fight with Emily and he wants to know what is going on. He tries to give her a chair he made but she doesn't want it. She says he has to stay away from her and makes a crack about him needing to worry about Jenna and Garrett.

That night the girls meet at a remote location. Emily shows them the text from A and says "they took the bait." They all smile. The have been tricking A by pretending to be at each other's throats. Hanna is worried they aren't including anybody else in the plan, but Emily says whenever anybody helps them they end up collateral damage.

At a swim meet Emily and Toby watch Garrett. He asks what is happening with Spencer and she says "it's not good for any of us right now."

Aria drops by Ezra's office. She leaves him a book with a note inside but seems conflicted and takes it out. She's surprised by Jackie, who reminds her of their "deal" and snatches the note. Ezra walks in just as Jackie says "this is your game, you picked the rules." After Jackie leaves Aria says she cut thing off because she didn't want to see him get hurt. He wishes he had told her mother about them. She goes to leave and he promises her he won't let Jackie destroy anyone. "There's something you and I need to do this afternoon," he says.

Outside the swim meet Caleb thanks Lucas for looking out for Hanna. Caleb says he's going to finish out the school year and then figure things out.

After the meet Emily approaches Spencer in a crowd and loudly says she wants the box that Jason gave Aria. She reiterates that Spencer is only looking out for herself. Spencer says the box "stays hidden" and Emily responds she thinks she knows where it is. After Emily walks away she gets a text from A: "See you tonight, BFF!"

Ezra and Aria meet with her parents. He says "I'm in love with your daughter." Mike walks downstairs. The couple beging to provide background. Aria takes his hand and says "I love him." Ella and Byron are flabbergasted that the relationship began when she was still his student. Byron demands that he leave and voices are raised. All of a sudden Mike punches Ezra in the mouth. Ezra doesn't react, but Aria thinks maybe he should leave.

With Ezra and the kids out of the room Byron and Ella talk about the news. Byron says "he's done," but Ella brings up the possible impact their marital issues might have had on Aria's behavior. Aria returns to the room and asks them not to make up their minds too quickly. She says they love each other and wants them to know "this is real."

Jackie explains her actions to Ezra by saying "I had to do something to wake you up to what was happening." He says he's beyond angry with her and tells her who is responsible for the fat lip. He tells her to get out. "I will not let you do anything to her."

Hanna tries to leave the house that night. Her mother says she can't leave because her father is on her way over.

Toby and Spencer are in the middle of an argument about her relationship with Emily. He won't let it go. He says ever since the night the girls found the shovel they've been acting like Allie is still running things. She tells him to give her one more night and makes him promise not to follow her.

Tom says he's moving back to Rosewood with his new wife and stepdaughter. Kate will be a classmate of Hanna's and she's pretty upset.

Emily goes to meet A.

Spencer gets a call from Aria who tells her she's been sent to her room by her parents.

Just before Emily goes inside to meet A she gets a text from Spencer: "Almost there. Don't go in yet."

Aria tries to sneak off to help Emily. Mike helps her after she says she's not going to see Ezra.

Emily walks inside with the box in her hand. She show the shadowy figure of A that there is nothing in the box and tells A that his/her mistake was believing them. A attacks her. Aria and Spencer show up in time to save Emily, but A manages to get away.

Outside, A is clipped by the front of Hanna's car as she pulls up. The girls give chase but they lose A. Nobody saw A's face and they don't know if it was a man or a woman. They look down and see A's cell phone next to Hanna's car.
