Heartbreak all around
bkoganbing22 June 2017
Both Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg encounter a pair of heartbreaking situations in this Blue Bloods story. Selleck from the past when he was a detective and Wahlberg with a current case.

Selleck gets the news broken to him about a rapist he collared who was positively identified by the victim. DNA unavailable back then says he wasn't the doer. The real guy for whom Josh Burrow has been doing the time for is now identified. The question is what can they do now?

Selleck really mans up and takes the responsibility as so few will do these days. Not really his fault, but he was the arresting officer.

Three kids, two boys and a girl, are just shot down in a park for no apparent reason. And these were good kids, or maybe they were't so good. It's the mess that Donnie Wahlberg and Jennifer Esposito have to solve.

The doer Phillip Ettinger is at the same time both frightening and pitiable. His reason for shooting them is just off the wall.

Worth watching for young Mr. Ettinger alone.

Police Have Heart and Vigor ****

Warning: Spoilers
Police are human and rise to the occasion when Frank discovers that a guy he arrested and who was convicted of a molestation, is shown to be innocent 18 years after the fact.

Police realize that there are kids who are good even after 3 are shot and two are dead in an absolute senseless killing.

Don't mess and be ready to complain to the police. You never know when the opposite reaction can occur. The episode also shows how the family looks out for each other and are always suspicious of their younger underlings.

The cohesiveness of the Regan Family just can't be beat in this ever exceptional series.

Misinformation
Originator199431 January 2015
Not a bad episode for the most part but another error once again in the factual information dept. Frank, the PC ,is talking to, as I recall,,his dad and mentions to him he was walking a. beat at age 20....not true ...legal age for law enforcement is age 21 and that coiincides with the legal carry age of also being 21...and most jurisdictions require come schooling , or a four year degree, which would leave the characters statement as not factual, and in error once again.

It would behove the writers, once again. To do their homework before putting out yet another episode with misinformation

Sloppy Math
katydid-648198 April 2020
The screenwriters should do their math, if Frank Regan was a 20 year old beat cop when he arrested a man for rape and the man spent 18 yrs in jail that would make Frank 38 yrs old not the 60 + yr old he Portrays at the time it is brought to the attention of the ADA
