- Jeremy's restaurant idea is re-born, and there's not a moment to waste.
- Farm shop and the restaurant are dead. Spring is back and the cows are released into the fields. The teenager cows are released in one field and the mums and new calves into another field. The avian flu is on the wane and the hens are also released from their hen-house quarantine.
The farm shop is re-opened with most of the produce being locally sourced from within a 16 mile radius. But the bags and hats and t-shirts are still not local. So, they don't sell the t-shirts. They are given away for free for buying a 20 pounds Brussels sprout. Hats are given free for a 15 pounds apple. 25 pounds potatoes with a free bag. The planning commission rules allow for any field to be used a temporary car park for 28 days. Since Jeremy has many fields, they simply rotate the location of the car park.
Alan tells Jeremy that Planning Commission also allows a 10 year old building for any purpose whatsoever. Jeremy has an old barn in the middle of the fields, which is 10 years old. They don't need planning permission to re-purpose a 10 year old building which is less than 150 square meters. Charlie confirms the same. The barn can only have room for a kitchen, so all the seating is outside. And Jeremy create a preparation kitchen at the farm. Jeremy creates a link road from the prep kitchen to the barn. A small quarry provides the gravel for the road. The gravel is deposited in loads by trailer and flattened with a road roller.
Jeremy hires Pip as the chef for the restaurant. Jeremy lists the ingredients honey, eggs, flour, chili sauces, lamb and beef. Jeremy's customers drive Subarus. So they don't want a fancy menu. Plus the main kitchen in the barn is very small. They can only have as much space outside the barn (with umbrellas), as there is inside it. Jeremy will have 45 tables in that space. Deeny and Pepper are again Artificially Impregnated. Deeny is preggers, but not Pepper. So Jeremy hires a bull for 2 months. The bull requires the fences to be strengthened and for some warning signs along the road
Next Jeremy plants a crop called Echium. Wheat and Barley go for 300 pounds per ton. Rapeseed for 700 pounds per ton and Echium for 4200 pounds per ton. Echium is a vegetarian option for omega 3,6 and 9 which is usually found in fish. Echium produces the oil. Bees love Echium. The crop doesn't need chemicals or fertilizers. Jeremy has a lot of issues planting the seeds in the cultivated field. First he couldn't set the computer right, then the drill wasn't level, then he could see the marker line, which meant he was missing some of the field and some of it was being planted twice.
Jeremy gets the rented bull from the same family that supplied the cows. The bull is named Maestro. Pepper has failed with Artificial Impregnation 3 times now. If Maestro cant get her preggers than she will be off to the butcher. Jeremy ships 1 cow to the butcher for beef for the restaurant. Jeremy is sad to sacrifice a cow, but he needs the beef to pay for the restaurant and the farmers. The 2nd cow is scheduled to go the following week.
Pip prepares the menu and Jeremy tastes it. Jeremy loves the menu and the taste. The farm track is ready and Alan is almost done with refurbishing the barn. Jeremy tests positive for Covid. Charlie tells Jeremy that the council has refused the farm track as it is not essential for farming purposes within this unit. No farmer has ever been refused a farm track on their own farm. So, now the council is just targeting Jeremy.
