The movie takes place in May just after his birthday, based on his family celebrating his birthday near the beginning of the movie.

Also, there are some cars that use diesel fuel as opposed to regular unleaded gasoline so the car they were driving could have been one of those.

When the real Sandy is driving to Colorado with Diana. He swerves the car to bang her head against the passenger door, twice. The camera tries to move to make it look like a swerve but the background behind the car does not change the motion.

When Sandy is pumping gas in St. Louis the gas pump's readout never moves from "$0.00" and "0.000 gallons"

In the scenes set in Denver (stopped by police/gas station) and St. Louis (police car escape/foot chase), distinctive Atlanta landmarks and buildings are visible (Philips Arena, Georgia Dome, Federal Building).

When Sandy and Diana pull over at the underpass in Florida, overhead signs for Georgia highways are present on the over-passing highway. These same signs are also seen during the car chase with the skiptracer.

When Sandy and Diana are in a car accident together on the highway, the real Sandy asks to see her driver license. The ZIP Code on the license is actually for Huntsville, Alabama.

As Sandy arrives in Winter Park, Florida, a flying shot of a beach in front of the town with an unknown skyline is shown. Winter Park is a small bedroom community just north of Orlando and it's completely landlocked with the exception of a few local lakes. The closest beach to Winter Park are approximately fifty minutes away.

With photo evidence of Diana, in reality the police would never have sent the real Sandy Patterson on a citizen vigilante to hunt down the criminal.
