Very very cute movie

This movie is perfect for the younger kids... the under 12 crowd and for American Girl Doll collectors. There's no harsh language or questionable subject matter. It moves at just the right pace for kids to remain riveted. The little sister does get lost at one point but it's resolved quickly. The rescue dog is adorable and the lessons about family and togetherness resonate. I cried at one point along with the main characters. This reminded me of the American Girl movies we've always loved like Grace and McKenna's but with more diversity. The actresses who play Corinne and Gwynn shine in this. I hope that they'll sell the DVD version for us collectors.

One of the best American Girl movies so far!
UltraBoat06615 August 2023
I've watched every American Girl movie and this was exceptional. The outfits and sets were so perfect and exact to the real toys and books!

It's an important message about family, as Corinne's parents have divorced and she has to cope with moving to a whole new home and have to hear her parents argue every time they see each other. Through it all she has her little sister Gwynn, but Gwynn is a ice skating prodigy while Corinne doesn't have any special skill like she does. That's until the ski center allows her to train a rescue dog, Flurry!

It's a beautiful winter themed movie and I have no doubt it will be a favorite for kids who enjoy the American Girl brand! I hope American Girl continues to make these movies.

My daughters love it

American Girl has come a long way since I was a little girl. This was an adorable relatable movie and my girls age 6 and 13 loved it. A Chinese American family as the storyline instead of the side characters, which I never got to see when I was growing up. I'm thankful that my children get to feel seen as part of the American Girl franchise or any other big toy brand. Totally appropriate and heartwarming storyline. The best part for my daughters was seeing Miya Cech and her real sister as Corinne and Gwynn. My younger daughter asked for the dolls and Flurry right away. I admit that even as an adult I loved the movie too.

We love Corinne Tan!

This is now my favorite American Girl Doll movie in the franchise. It's so well done and fun and the scenery is beautiful. Not to mention that the actresses who play Corinne and Gwynn are really sisters. You can see that they have a actual sisterly bond. I didn't know that Miya Cech had a little sister who was an actress too because she is one of my kids favorite Nickelodeon actresses. The movie was very appropriate for elementary school aged children. My daughter and her friend wanted to watch it twice in a row. I was disappointed that we can't find most of the dolls for sale now at the American Girl store or online. They seem to be sold out everywhere and we wanted to buy the set after seeing the movie.

Warning: Spoilers
The movie is good but it cut many plot point from the book for time. The characters are a little off Corrine mom and Bio dad far more rude to each other. Corrine her self pretty much the same as she is in her books and stop motion series. Gwynn is more attached to her sister and dependent on her too. The girl are older then they are in books Corrine is 11 years old in book in the movie she is 13. Gwynn is 7 years old in books and 11 years old in the movie.

The part of the story that covers Asia hate and discrimination was completely left out of the movie. Corrine tans best friend is also absent from the movie which means the topic of bullying was cut. Corrine dog flurry is a major departure from the books, Flurry is pure bread golden retriever in the movie which quite different from the book where she's a mutt from shelter. The movies time line takes place shorter then the book, the movie events happen over about 2 weeks.

The plot center around Corrine getting use her new life slip between the two house holds and Gwynn progress in ice skating. Corrine is inspired to train Flurry the rescue dog so she will pass her exam. Trouble arises when Corrine misses Gwynn Ice skating competition because she with Flurry who fails her exam. Gwynn gets upset and runs away in a storm and gets lost, it's up to a rescue team to find with the help her family. Corrine with Flurry in tow finds Gwynn safe and sound. Flurry the dog was allowed the be a mountain rescue dog and Corrine was told she can keep Flurry. Everyone resolves they problem with each other and movie ends.

Overall its a good film with interesting characters and settings 10/10.
