Disney Concerts, Disney Branded Television, and Aeg Presents today revealed tour dates and ticket sale information for the Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour, a one-of-a-kind interactive live concert experience coming to arenas across North America in Summer 2025.

Joshua Colley from Descendants: The Rise of Red and Mekonnen Knife from Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires have been added to the previously announced talent line-up of Kylie Cantrall, Freya Skye, Malia Baker, Malachi Barton, and Dara Reneé.

An exclusive presale for Disney+ subscribers in the U.S. and Canada will be available Tuesday, November 12, at 12 p.m. local time until Thursday, November 14, at 10 p.m. local time. The Walt Disney Company has revealed the Disney+ November 2024 release schedule, which includes new Originals, movies, and TV series. The Disney+ streaming service features movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and more, alongside exclusive Disney+ Originals.

“Descendants: The Rise of Red” has become Disney+’s most-watched live-action original movie since September 2022’s “Hocus Pocus 2,” TheWrap can exclusively reveal.

Since arriving on Disney+ on July 12, “The Rise of Red” has tallied up 33 million viewers in just 12 weeks of streaming, according to internal data from Disney.

In July, the fourth “Descendants” movie logged 6.7 million views within its first three days of streaming, an impressive debut when compared to the 4.6 million views garnered by Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” movie in its opening weekend on Disney+.

After three months on the streamer, “Descendants: The Rise of Red” has caught up to streaming viewership for Pixar’s “Inside Out 2,” which scored 30.5 million views worldwide in its first five days after hitting the streamer on Sept. 25.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will debut just in time for Halloween.

The sequel series is set to premiere on Disney Channel with two episodes airing on October 29 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt, the network announced Thursday. The first eight episodes will become available the next day on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand.

Love Island also stayed strong in the week after its July 21 season finale. Even in a week during which it did not release a new episode, “Dragon” bested this week’s big streaming series debut, “The Umbrella Academy” Season 4. Netflix added the six-episode season on Aug. 8 and drew enough households to place the series at No. 6 this week. The first episode of Season 4 was seen by 559,000 U.S. households during the first four days it was available.

The Boys recorded 1.33 billion minutes of viewing time on Prime Video for the week of July 15-21, finishing first among all titles in Nielsen’s rankings for the first time (the season four finale debuted July 18). Overall streaming numbers for July 8-14 came down a fair amount from the record-breaking previous week. HBO’s House of the Dragon, however, was virtually even with its prior viewing total — which was good enough to move it to the top spot for the first time.

House of the Dragon amassed 1.27 billion minutes of viewing on Max (not including viewing on HBO’s cable channels), just a smidge below the 1.3 billion it had the week before. With the two titles ahead of it the previous week, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F and Suits, each falling by significant amounts, the HBO show moved up to No. 1.

Suits fell by 28 percent week-to-week to 1.07 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix and Peacock, which was good for third place overall, slightly behind Bluey (1.08 billion minutes on Disney+) and just ahead of The Boys (1.05 billion for Prime Video), which had its fifth consecutive week over the billion-minute mark.

Summer slumber set for streaming viewership in the July 16-Aug. 1 frame as total minutes watched for top original streaming series and movies took a dip from recent weeks.

Netflix’s “Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam” and “The Decameron” showed some spunk by making it into Luminate’s top 10 for original streaming series. Paramount+’s “The Mayor of Kingstown” also saw a boost during the week for its penultimate episode of Season 3. On the film side, Netflix’s rom com “Find Me Falling” topped the chart for a second straight week. Spanish-language entry “Non Negotiable” was a sleeper success in its first week on Netflix.

Everything seems to be coming together nicely for the highly anticipated I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, which is also being called a legacy sequel. Recently, we learned that the new movie will not erase the events that happened in the 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Of course, this prompted fans to immediately start speculating if any actors from that movie could be reprising their roles in the legacy sequel.

Seeing as though the two main leads, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., are already in talks to return, the only other actor from that film who could possibly come back would be Brandy Norwood. The ‘Descendants’ films, which debuted in 2015 and focus on the teenage children of classic Disney villains, have since spawned multiple sequels and spin-offs airing on Disney Channel and Disney+. The franchise’s latest installment, ‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’, was released last month exclusively on Disney+.

Speaking on the podcast ‘Magical Rewind’, hosted by former Disney Channel stars Will Friedle and Sabrina Bryan, Cornelia Frame, Disney Channel’s former Vice President of Casting and Talent Relations, revealed details of Zendaya’s numerous auditions for roles in ‘Descendants’. “Zendaya did audition many times for ‘Descendants’, and that was a big deal. Before starring in blockbusters, Zendaya could have almost been part of Disney Channel’s Descendants franchise at one point.

In a recent interview on the Magical Rewind podcast, Cornelia Frame, the former vp casting and talent relations at the network, revealed the Emmy winner actually auditioned multiple times for the musical fantasy television film.

“Zendaya did audition many times for Descendants, and that was a big deal,” she recalled to hosts Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) and Sabrina Bryan (The Cheetah Girls). “It was a really big deal. She auditioned over and over and really wanted it. It just ended up not going her way.”

The Descendants franchise centers on the teenage children of classic Disney villains, including Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar and Cruella de Vil. The first film premiered in 2015, with two sequels debuting in 2017 and 2019. And the spinoff Descendants: The Rise of Red dropped on Disney+ earlier this month.

During a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter to promote Disney Channel’s latest Descendants sequel, the star was asked about Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer movie reboot that is coming in hot with a theatrical release date set for July 18, 2025. Brandy emphasized that she had not heard about the new project but would want to return as Karla Wilson, the character she played in the 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

“I didn’t know Sony was putting that together,” Brandy tells THR of the new film. “That’s interesting!”

When asked if she might be pulling a fast one in order to maintain secrecy about her potential appearance, Brandy maintained that she was indeed in the dark. “I’m not pulling a fast one on you,” she said. “I did not know that.

The two most-watched streaming originals in the U.S. during the week of July 12-18 were Peacock’s “Love Island USA” Season 6 and Disney+’s “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” topping Luminate’s TV and film charts, respectively, with 1.1 billion minutes watched.

This was the second week at No. 1 for "Love Island." Season 6 viewership improved slightly from last week's 919 million minutes watched after the release of Episodes 28 through 33. "The Rise of Red" debuted on the the first day of this viewing window, giving it a full week to accrue its total.

In their first full weeks of availability on Netflix, Season 3 of "Vikings: Valhalla" was second-most-watched (1 billion minutes) and docuseries "Receiver" took third place (886.5 million minutes). Brandy Norwood is having quite a year, which includes returning as Cinderella more than two decades after first playing the role for Disney.

Norwood starred as the storybook heroine for ABC’s 1997 television movie Cinderella, opposite Paolo Montalban as Prince Charming. The pair is back to reprise their characters in Descendants: The Rise of the Red, which is currently streaming on Disney+ and is set to debut on the Disney Channel on Aug. 9.

“We’re so honored, so blessed, so excited,” Norwood tells The Hollywood Reporter about reuniting with Montalban. “This is such a magical experience to be able to work with Paolo again, to waltz with him, to sing with him — all of it.”

Rita Ora recieved some valuable advice from Brandy, one queen to another, on their new Disney+ movie.

The You & I artist explained why the Cinderella (1997) star told her to “stop” apologizing on the set of Descendants: The Rise of Red, which is now available to stream on Disney+ ahead of its August 9 Disney Channel premiere.

She recalled filming an “iconic” coup scene in which her Queen of Hearts character takes Brandy’s Cinderella as a hostage. “‘Off with her head!’ It’s a very iconic quote for Queen of Hearts, and I was trying to find my version of that,” Ora told Entertainment Weekly.

But Ora found it difficult pretending to be mean to the Moesha alum, whom she “would try and imitate every day in my bedroom” as a kid.

“Every scene after that, I would be like, ‘I’m so sorry, I don’t mean it,'” she added.

Actress and musician Dove Cameron was among the stars not to reprise her Disney Channel role for Descendants: The Rise of Red.

I watched the Descendants trilogy for the first time as a fully grown adult this week. As a Disney baby, I’ve always enjoyed the wholesome musicals that are equal parts cringe and charm. A quick reminder: Descendants is a series of films that tells the story of the kids of popular Disney characters; specifically, it’s about villain kids and how they deserve a second chance because everyone has a touch of good in them. In The Rise of Red, we see Alice in Wonderland’s “Queen of Hearts” get a redemption arc. She’s certainly one of the most malevolent Disney villains of all time, and not hearing “off with their heads” anymore from her will certainly feel odd. But, to get to the heart of this story, let’s quickly recap the important details and explore Descendants: The Rise of Red‘s ending.

Disney’s live-action movies excel when it comes to lighthearted teenage dramas and musicals, which is why it was the best medium for the continuation of their most popular IPs, the lore of the princesses. Unlike the live-action adaptations of the princess movies, the Descendants franchise, which focuses on the adventures of the children of classic Disney princess characters, has been received quite positively. However, the focus remains primarily on the children of the villainous characters, as the key running motif in the three movies released so far is to highlight the familiar resolution that children shouldn’t be burdened with the sins of their parents; they have their own identity, which shouldn’t be generalized as such. While the campy narratives, funky characterization, and out-of-date humor might not be everyone’s cup of tea, the strong social messages conveyed by each of the movies have a lasting impact on children and adults alike.
