Yet Another Supernatural Thriller That Shares Themes With Run Rabbit Run.
meddlecore14 August 2023
Honestly, for a low budget supernatural thriller...it's really not that bad.

Oddly enough, it's yet another film that shares thematic similarities with Run Rabbit Run (another being Mother, May I?, for example).

Sure...it might be relatively straight forward...with a twist we've already seen this year.

But it's still an engaging little picture.

In which the burden of guilt turns into psychological torment.

I thought the subplot about the paranormal investigator turned skeptic turned gaslighting con artist was also clever.

In that it acts to subtly misdirect you from the true conclusion.

It's certainly not a masterpiece or anything.

But the story and acting are decent enough to hold your attention.

Even though the ghost is a bit of a cop out.

All in all, I'd say it's worth a watch.

But Run Rabbit Run definitely does the shared theme more justice.

4.5 out of 10.

Terrible script
matthewbatham30 March 2023
This is obviously a very low budget production made by an amateur team. For that, it is a decent movie. The lead actress is very good and managed to breathe life into the absolutely abysmal script. I know you have to make allowances for budget but there is no excuse for this script. It is like something written by a GCSE student. Terrible. Sadly, the awful script sucks out any potential horror, leaving a very bland offering. 10 out of 10 to the actors for doing a very good job of trying to breathe life into this absolutely awful script. I'm sure better parts await you. As an aside, The house

was cool.

The Woman in deja vu
robscott-1681629 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, if The Woman in black had not been produced then sure this would be much better. As it is I am left feeling like I have seen some of these scenes before. The rocking horse, the window scene and that scene where Evie emerges screaming from the shadows are very similar to The Woman in black.

Not to mention it has put itself in an increasingly worn out franchise with the typically isolated and haunted house, creepy dolls, old furniture and who could leave out those big old clocks (At least that was the star of the show this time!). In short it is outcompeted by other films.

If your a budding horror film producer watching that and reading this then please for the love of horror fans; please show us something other than a untidy, rickety, lonely house with the aforementioned furnishings. And most importantly if you are doing a film like this with plot twists do not throw in jump scares because you cannot have both. The story will simply be lost in shredded nerves and wait for the next one and no idea what the film was about.

There are some plot holes which other reviewers may have pointed out how the ghost appears older than what was supposed to be and also Evie died while wearing her mask so why is the apparition without it most of the time. And why does she not take the time to cut her nails ? Honestly, they were unnecessary. The ghost was menacing enough they did not need to give her weapons.

Dispite that there was one scene that impressed me, that was the scene where Evie and Mason are in the same room, she is sitting in a chair and slowly looks round at him from behind. That was not a jump scare but as a result it felt more chilling especially where the character cannot see but the audience can. It impressed enough that I decided to up my rating to a 3 as that also felt more original.

One of the worst movies in recent time
frtjdbqjpg28 May 2023
Honestly, the protagonist is terrible. You kind of the get the vibe of generally what happened, though not in detail, early in the beginning of the film. It's one of the horror movies where I felt annoyed by the protagonist which is always a death sentence. Everything horrible that happened in the movie is essentially the protagonist's fault without any redeeming quality to be seen. Some of the protagonist's husband's actions seem even warranted. To make matters worse, this movie takes itself too seriously. The combination of an unlikable protagonist, dumb script, cheap jump scares, and a sense of self-importance is a recipe for a disastrous horror movie. Avoid this movie.

Terrible
liambrocklesby20 April 2023
Worst film I've ever watched. Terrible script and terrible direction. Actors are good but obviously aren't in control due to a poor director. Very VERY amateur. If I were these guys I wouldn't bother doing a film again. Waste of their and our time. Very boring plot. GCSE drama at best. Can tell there is no qualifications from production team. This must be a hobby that has turned into a full time job. Sloppy. Boring. Dull. Poorly directed. Worst film I've ever watched, I'd rather trap my cock in door than watch another film by these guys. Don't waste your time!! Trust me you'll not gunna get that hour and half back!

Predictable with lots of plot holes
smudd9620 March 2023
Movie has many plot holes that start right from the beginning, that make it confusing and hard to get into. They bring up a family tragedy right away but when the tragedy is revealed, the main character's husband acts as it it is the first time he heard of it? It is also predictable in regards to its use of scare tactics and setting up the mystery of the murderer. The ghost is supposed to be of a little girl only the ghost seems much older, which takes away from the story. The theatrics of the creaking floor, moving doors and strange noises are overplayed and low budget at best. I have no idea how this movie could garner anything greater that one star.

Not sure how the score is so high
thedivide11 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is was full of predictable jump scares and horror movie cliches. On top of that, the script was choppy and the acting wasn't all that great.

If the movie had gone in one direction instead of taken three unsatisfying avenues maybe it could have been saved, but every part of this felt halfhearted and unfinished. More like an exercise rather than an honest endeavor.

The main character constantly breaks down into crying panic attacks, the husband is obvious from the beginning. The only interesting part of this was the paranormal investigator being a bit different than the norm. Even the ghost was tired and dull. How anyone is giving this over a 3 is a mystery in itself.

Decent Indie Horror
justmatt-0776822 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Michaela Longden gives a wonderful performance and her talent really shines through. It has vibes of The Others and what you'd expect from classic ghost stories but with it's own unique flavours and moments. Although slow to begin with, once the film finds its feet it leads to a satisfying conclusion and has just enough ambiguity to let audiences make up their own minds about the morals of the characters and their ultimate fates. The visual effects are also very good and one scene involving footprints gave me chills. A well crafted indie horror with some wonderful cinematography and a haunting score to boot.

Not That Bad
maineguy_0404325 October 2023
I found this movie very entertaining and not as bad as others have said. I certainly at no time had any desire to slam my dick in the door. Sure the plot was predictable but what movie lately isn't. I like the actors esp. The hunky Tom Millen, I love seeing straight guys get nailed in horror movies. I would recommend this for a late night home alone horror film if you want a few good jumps and some great acting. I loved the ending and this movie will be going on my yearly horror film watch list. Disregard the reviews on here I think they are all over critical and probably expected more blood and gore. This is an old fashion horror movie that will entertain.

An entertaining diversion
davidradlett15 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This was an entertaining diversion , well above the usual horror/slasher effort. The cast was particularly strong, especially Michaela Longden as the tortured lead, Margot. Tom Millen did well as Mason, her husband. Also worthy of note were Simon Davies as Barton Bailey, a sort of Harry Price character and Sarah Alexandra Marks as Greta Rose, Mason's literary agent with an agenda of her own. There were a few plot holes, but nothing to be condemnatory about. The photography was particularly good, with some clever framing and lighting which added to the overall success of the project. Perhaps not the best in the genre, but a fine effort all around.
