Great movie full of emotions
jleruz10 February 2023
A true story. A wonderdul movie, great directing and cinematography and an amazing cast. Very emotional. The search for dignity from a brother to another after his tragical death. A moving family portrait where the black sheep become the strength for the others. A journey trough the family origins in Algeria to a beautiful moment in Taïwan where the two brothers managed to communicate, sadly a few months before the accident. Also a political movie without cliché who shows how this generation of young immigrants can become a real asset for their new country. Prestigious school, military career, Jallal was ready to serve his country, to die « pour la France » This movie is a great way to remember him ...

Interesting story

This French drama speaks of a topic rarely evoked before: the inner practices of military academies concerning the rookies. But it is evoked very quickly, maybe not enough A young soldier suddenly dies after one drill. This young man is from Arab descent, Algerian. And his brother seeks the reason why his brother actually died. Then the story gets into a flashback, concerning this family. The movie is made by an Algerian born director and mostly destined to Algerian born or descent audiences. Which I don't belong to, but it remains pretty ineresting and worth the watch. This is a part of history, part French part Algerian. Of course foreign audiences will maybe find not more interest in this feature.
