The film was made for £50. All the cast and crew put in their time and resources free of charge. The £50 was for insurance.
Using a basic home computer, it took visual effects editor Daniel Tee six weeks to edit a one-minute sequence that involved two thousand gunshots and several hundred bullet hits.
While filming a scene in the woods, the crew started treading extremely carefully after realizing that the rotten layer of wood they were standing on was the roof of an extensive wasp nest.

In December 2012, 'Slaughter Is The Best Medicine' was accepted by a U.S. distributor who was set to release the film internationally. But in the wake of the tragic shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, it was agreed that the timing was wrong to promote the film. The violent title and narrative was judged to be too challenging at a time when people were coming to terms with real life events.
