- Suhana (Janhvi Kapoor) got promoted to the post of deputy high commissioner in the U.K embassy, and she became the youngest person to hold that position. It was a matter of great pride for the Bhatia family, and more than anybody else, Suhana expected her father to be proud of her. But it wasn't so. Her father, Dhanraj Bhatia (Adil Hussain), and grandfather, too, were decorated diplomats, and that's why the former felt that Suhana had gotten the position just because of her family name.
Suhana had successfully led a negotiation in Kathmandu where she used the minister's son's involvement in timber smuggling as leverage. Suhana's bosses were extremely impressed by her tactical skills, and she always felt that she got the job because of that. While leaving for the United Kingdom, she told her father that even if he felt that it was her family name that gave her an undue advantage, then she would prove by her work ethic that she was capable of sitting on that chair. For Suhana, work came first, and at times, her mother Saroj (Natasha Rastogi) had to tell her that there were other things in life apart from work, too. Like every Indian mother, she wanted Suhana to get married or at least start seeing a guy of her choice. But Suhana was too focused, and her priority at the time was to do justice to the role she was given.
Another diplomat named Jacob Tamang (Meiyang Chang) was also a contender for the post, and a lot of people thought that he was a deserving candidate. So, a bunch of people gave Suhana the cold shoulder once she reached London. Sebin Kutty (Roshan Mathew), who was very close to Jacob, didn't talk to Suhana at all, and he never left an opportunity to belittle her.
The foreign ministry was opening a bid for a tender of hydrogen Electrolyzers that was to be used by a company to create green energy. A company in Nasik won the tender, but Suhana didn't know that there were other major players who wanted hydrogen Electrolyzers for themselves. Suhana met a man named Nakul (Gulshan Devaiah) during that convention who claimed he was a Michelin-starred chef. He tried flirting with Suhana and then later told her that he might have overstepped because he was lonely and wanted somebody's company. Suhana thought for a moment and then decided to spend the evening with him. One thing led to another, and Suhana shared an intimate moment with Nakul. Nakul had hidden cameras in his house, and he used the footage to blackmail Suhana.
Nakul told Suhana that his real name was Mohammad Humayan Akhtar and that he worked for the ISI. Humayun asked Suhana to hand him over the tender papers that had been passed by the ministry. Then, once she delivered that, he asked her to tell him the names of the moles operating on Pakistani soil. Suhana gets Nakul's fingerprint on a file that she handed him. She asks her driver Salim (who was being very protective of her), to do a background check on Nakul, as Salim was in the police. But Nakul knew that Suhana lifted his prints and confronted her about it. When Suhana checks his fingerprint on Embassy database, it reveals that if belongs to a deceased person. Suhana had no option but to give the games to Nakul, and she tries to kill him. Nakul anticipates her attacks and thwarts her easily. The 2 undercover agents were extracted from Pakistan based on an anonymous tip that came from UK.
Meanwhile, the Indian government signed a peace treaty with Pakistan's head, Shahzad Alam (Rushad Rana). Pakistan had agreed to extradite a terrorist named Yaseen Mirza (Himanshu Malik), and the Indian government had called Shehzad Alam to attend the Independence Day ceremony as a token of acknowledgment for the efforts he was making to maintain peaceful relations between the two nations. The Pakistan Defense minister was against sending Yaseen to India, but Shahzad was firm in his decision. The defense minister delays Yaseen extradition to until after the Indian Independence Day ceremony. Meanwhile, Dhanraj is appointed as the Permanent representative to the UN.
Jacob found out that Suhana was involved in some shady business when he saw her photocopying the papers at the embassy. He followed her and got to know that she was meeting with Pakistani officials. Jacob came to Susana's house and confronted her. But before he could do anything, Humayun's men shot and killed him. It is revealed that Salim killed Jacob.
The Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) got involved in the matter, and the chief, Sanjeev Bajpai, together with his subordinate Prakash Kamat (Jitendra Joshi), came to London to investigate the case. They knew that the Electrolyzer papers were leaked from the London embassy. Their prime suspect was Sebin Kutty, but surprisingly, they made Suhana the head of the investigation. The R&AW chief Sanjeev Bajpai knew that Suhana didn't have the required skill set to lead the investigation, but he told her that it would add an element of surprise as nobody would expect her to be involved in it.
Nakul/Humayun had asked for an Indian visa from Suhana by the name of Nakul Bhatia (to visit a Dargah), and she had no option but to give it to him. When the ISI agent came to collect the passport, Suhana followed her in the hope of finding some information about him. Suhana was shocked when she saw Humayun meeting with Salim (Rajesh Tailang), and she realized that she couldn't trust anybody in the entire system. Salim was Suhana's driver, and he seemed like that fatherly figure on whom Suhana could place her trust. He was leaking information, and so Suhana went to his house to confront him.
Salim took out his gun when he saw the situation getting out of hand, and Suhana ended up killing him. Sebin Kutty arrived at Salim's house just after the violent encounter, and he misunderstood the entire situation. He pointed a gun at Suhana, blaming her for the deaths of Jacob and Salim and betraying her country. That's when Suhana asked him to check the photos that Salim had in his possession and also the video he had on his laptop where Suhana was getting physically intimate with Humayun/Nakul. She also finds photos of Salim working with Prakash Kamat during his police days. Sebin Kutty was an experienced professional, and he realized that Suhana had been set up right from the beginning.
Surprisingly, Salim was leaking the information not to ISI but to the R&AW agent Prakash Kamat. But Kamat was also a pawn, and he was reporting to someone else. Sebin and Suhana started working together, and that's when they got to know that, from the foreign minister Manohar Rawal (Rajendra Gupta), who happened to share a very close relationship with Danraj Bhatia, to the high-ranking officials of the R&AW, everybody was involved in the conspiracy. Sebin, through his contacts in the ISI, got to know that Humayun's real name was David and that he was not with the ISI. David worked as a mercenary, and he was going to Delhi to assassinate the Pakistani prime minister. Sebin and Suhana still didn't understand what benefit Rawal would gain from killing the Pakistani chef on their soil. They both decided to go to Delhi to uncover the truth and find proof so they could prove their innocence.
Sebin and Suhana reached Delhi, and they managed to put a tracking device in Prakash Kamat's house. There was an abandoned building adjacent to Kamat's house from where Suhana and Sebin kept an eye on him, day and night. Also, Sebin Kutty had some technology through which he could format Kamat's laptop if he tried transferring the files he had on his system. Sebin knew that Kamat had all the photos and videos that he could use to frame Suhana.
Suhana remembered that David once told her that he wanted to visit a particular Dargah, in Delhi and it didn't take long for Sebin to find out that the Pakistani prime minister was scheduled to go there that day. Sebin and Suhana were able to connect the dots and find out that Rawal didn't want Yaseen Mirza to be extradited to India. Yaseen had escaped from police captivity, and Rawal helped him in doing that, as at that time, he was working with the police department with Salim and Kamat. Now, the plan was to kill the prime minister on Indian soil and then put the blame on the ISI. So that's why they set up Suhana from the very beginning so that when the time came, they could prove that she was working with the ISI. The defense minister of Pakistan (Vivek Madan) who was planning a coup against the sitting prime minister.
Shahzad Alam was backed by ISI, and the Pakistani defense minister realized that he could kill two birds with one stone. Also, Rawal knew that if Yaseen came back to India, then there was a possibility that he would spill the beans and the former's career would be destroyed. Yaseen was the mastermind of the Delhi bomb blast, and Rawal knew the consequences of conspiring with a terrorist.
Sebin and Suhana reached the Dargah just in time, and they realized that David might be sitting at a high point from where he got a clear view of the Pakistani PM. Suhana figured out that David was sitting in a tomb adjacent to the Dargah. She went there and made sure that he wasn't able to kill the PM. Suhana, after a violent confrontation, was able to get the better of him. David was killed, and the Pakistani PM returned to his country unharmed. Suhana and Sebin proved that they were true patriots, and Minster Rawal, together with his other accomplices, faced serious charges.
Suhana, and Sebin were being questioned by the authorities. Suhana's father came to meet her and told her that he was proud of her. He also felt apologetic for the fact that he didn't share such a relationship with her, in which she could come forward and tell him whatever had happened in her life. Suhana has literally risked her life to save the legacy of her family and, more importantly, the reputation of her father.
That's when Suhana met an anonymous woman, who told her that she worked for a secret agency called the Black Cat. She offered Suhana to work for them, considering she had shown the kind of skills and endurance that they needed for the job. Suhana was told that David worked for Zulfikar Hashmi. She said that the man kidnapped children and forced them to work for him. She also told Suhana that David's body didn't even reach the morgue as Zulfikar's men attacked the police van and took it with them. She came out and met Sebin, and that's when she learned that he had been given the same offer. Sebin was inclined to accept the offer, and from the looks of it, Suhana would accept it, too.
