Celebrities are just the same
alaningle719 September 2022
Oh Han-byeol (Lee Sung Kyung) is the head of a PR team who work for a company called starforce, the top star on their books is Gong Tae-sung (Kim Young Dae). These two have endured a frosty love hate relationship since their school days but over time both come to the realisation that they do really like each other. The story line is interesting as it shows the difficulties and struggles of protecting the lives of famous people when so many fans believe they can behave as judges of how the stars should live their life. A great supporting cast with stories of their own and a believable romance between the two leads make this an enjoyable watch.

Cute Watch. Could be better
petalsinthewind-0414630 January 2023
This a light hearted feel good kdrama. The first 10 episodes are jamm packed with comedy.

I however found myself utterly uninterested in the side storylines. I did not care for them at all and kept skipping to either Kang Yu Seong's parts or the main leads' parts. They did however do a good job tying them all together at the end at least and making them considerably watch worthy.

From 11 to 14th episode the whole vibe of the drama becomes sad. It feels like a very sudden change. I actually kept wondering what was actually happening. The last two episodes are better.

The drama has no storyline and it doesnt need one. I watched this after Penthouse to get rid of the depression it gave me. Its a wonderful feel good drama that i could definitely watch again for comedy. It also gives you an insight on a celebrity's life and how their agency handles their lives to some extent.

I do think it had a lot more potential though.

Good but had the potential to be better
11ovz1114 October 2022
This drama could have been a perfect romantic comedy. However, by episode 11 it felt as if the writers forgot what they were aiming for at the beginning. As the drama started with chaotic best friends turned enemies plot and they eventually fell for each other and started a relationship. This is a great plotline. However, the show does not go deeper into their romance or why they were so angry at each other all the time and how it slowly turns into fluffy kisses. It feels like their change happens over night and feels short of expectations.

I also, did not like the heavy yellow filter they put to show "Africa" in the beginning of the Ep1 and the fact that they kept referring to all the countries in the African continent as just one poor country without water.

Also, the side character romances just seem to happen with whoever the partners they are with and as a viewer I found myself uninterested about all of them.

On the other hand, it was great to see the behind the scenes of a celebrities life and how their agencies and PR team are actually handling all the "scandals" and crisis that they seem to face everyday.

Also, I loved the actress who was actually a number one fan of the main lead. She represented all of us fans very well.

If you are looking for happy and comedy pill then this show is the one.

Besides, this show also focuses on the background of the celebrities as how they are in real life.

I really like lee sung kyung's acting. So this show is good to watch.

Light hearted.

I'd give it an 11 if I could - fun, romantic... Amazing!
OldGuyUS31 January 2023
Here is a no spoiler, high-level review. I just want you to know I think you should watch it! Why?

The acting is truly great from the entire cast. I don't want to slight anyone. The female lead (Lee Song-Kyoung) and her friends in the series are all incredible actresses. But the male lead (Kim Young-Dae) turned in the best performance by a guy in all the KDramas I have watched. And I truly mean that. His ability to be both truly romantic and funny is amazing. He just knocked it out of the park. And, even as a pretty old, very straight male I have to say that guy is so good looking! The shots of him being "hot" were, well, hot! (And hilarious at the same time :-) )

The lead couple is maybe tied for the most beautiful and heartfelt couple from any Kdrama I have seen. Their chemistry is off the charts. They should hook up in real life!

There is touching romance and warm humor without ever going over the top and getting silly.

The level of trauma is low for a KDrama, which is awesome. The slight trauma and inevitable love triangle were resolved quickly and maturely. (Thank you writers!)

This series kept me engaged and rooting for multiple couples during every minute. I was seriously bummed when it was over, even if I liked the way it turned out for so many of the cast.

Seriously, just watch it!

Good Romcom but....
rutu-7484111 July 2022
Yes, it is a good romcom k-drama, storyline revolves around the people behind the camera and actors/actresses.. It has a good humor but the main reason on which the story is depending on is kinda stupid. (Actually NO exact reason has been displayed in the drama) But overall the drama is okok..

Shooting Stars is a K-Drama Worth Watching
PalmBeachG5 June 2022
Shooting Stars is a romantic comedy intertwined with drama centered around the top star at an entertainment agency and the PR Manager who has the task of managing him. He is a difficult task for the PR Manager all the while she is unaware that he has a secret crush on him. I love the beginning of the show in episode 1 where the top star is shown in Africa where he goes to volunteer for a year. His real reasons for doing this are divulged later in the series as the drama gets revealed. He comes back after a year of volunteerism to continue with his acting career, and he reunites with his former PR Manager again. The lead actor KIM YOUNG DAE plays the top star named Gong Tae Sung at the agency. He does an excellent job on his first lead role and is the perfect fit for the role. He is handsome, romantic, and they couldn't get anyone better. I rarely mention female leads in my reviews as I usually don't like them so much but I actually did like Lee Sung Kyung which is rare for me. After my many reviews on imdb in the US I have only mentioned 2 other females so that is saying a lot. When Gong returns there is a hysterically funny scene where it shows the PR Manager's first mistake with Gong where she accidentally uploaded a story that questioned his manhood (by a misspelling of a word). You will see how it plays out but it is so funny. I want to mention that the K-Drama is showcasing the popular song Your My Shooting Star which is an integral part of the series. Even I recognized it and I live the US so it must be pretty popular. #ShootingStars #GongTaeSung.

Fluff fluff fluffy fluff and many kisses
hanalisss14 June 2022
I mean, the drama is entertaining and all but it is lighthearted to the extreme.

It has a few dramatic plots but they are very quickly resolved and some of them are just dropped ( we never got to see what happened with the cougar stalker) Usually on every drama you have a big conflict that needs resolving towards the end but in this series The last few episodes are literally uneventful and they just show a lot of fluff and sweet scenes. ( and so many kisses!)

In my opinion this has way more potential but I guess is not bad to have some sweet lighthearted dramas with no complexity, miss understandings or overdramatized twists to just relax and take your mind away from reality.

Chaotic, slightly problematic but perfect
mikkiparker11 June 2022
One of the best 2022 dramas. The cast was perfect. I loved how this romcom was filled with multiple love stories and more than one storyline (the focus wasn't only on the ML & FL's story) so you were never bored. All the friendships were super sweet and genuine, the whole cast fit perfectly together.

Yes, the first two episodes had problematic themes with racist aspects. The show (writer) did reference Africa as a country and it was brought up occasionally during the whole show. HOWEVER, it didn't affect the storyline at all and was talked about very rarely. I do agree that there was no need to reference Africa as such or do at least a minimal effort and chose one African country. They did reference Korea as a state so they should do it with an African state as well. I did find that rather problematic. After the first two episodes, it got so much better.

If we look past the Africa thing, the show was really light-hearted and funny. Great humor that didn't feel forced at all. A big plus for all the healthy relationships. The ending was very sweet and beautifully finished the story. I do highly recommend this drama!

Charming but uneven romcom
AJ_McAninch17 August 2022
I think the series could have been sharper at 12 eps because the plot does get draggy in places. That's not on the director or actors but the writer and the producer's expectations. They gave us a charming but uneven romcom, not a memorable series that would be strong for years. That aside, when this series is good it's really good, and it has some very touching scenes and others that are hilarious. The cast seemed to enjoy working together and have great chemistry. Recommended.

Cute, funny and full of warmth
elianaperez-003651 July 2022
The show starts a bit slow and all over the place, but after episode 2 it's great, you'll love all the characters and the their stories. The lawyer was one of my favorites in this show, although the main characters Oh Han Byeol and Gong Tae Sung were super cute as well.

Love Stories behind the scenes
pranayjalvi26 June 2022
Shooting Stars offers a story about the different lives of people behind the cameras. Starting from writers, managers and PR's who work hard to take care of the image of their artists.

During the drama, these characters also unveil the hardships of their work especially in handling their actors. Even though they are immersed in their jobs, they also opened their hearts to the people whom they like. Shooting Stars shows that a well-balanced lifestyle would make one's heart happy.

The background music and the pairing were effective, although the acting of the cast felt overdone and sometimes there was a lack of stability. The drama felt monotonous at times however the end result was not bad at all.

My Rating : 7/10.

Good Enough
PennyReviews7 November 2022
Korean Drama " Shooting Stars " is a standard korean romantic comedy.

Bringing easily to mind the older kdrama "The Producers", the drama takes place in the entertainment industry and showcases the lives of those who work behind the scenes or alongside the famous stars.

The main plot, moreover, is based on the bickering love story of the two main leads who are on the opposite side of the industry, as well as two opposites all together. Their dynamics are perfect to support an entertaining story, and their relationship is nicely paced and smoothly progressed, with some really sweet romantic scenes.

However, that being said, the drama is predictable and silly at times. The romantic chemistry of the coule was lukewarm as well.

The performances, on the other hand, were enjoyable by everyone in the cast.

So, overall, five out of ten.

Slice of the entertainent agency life and heartwarming romance
leahcubed5 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
9.5/10 is my rating. This is a 2022 South Korean Romantic Comedy with 16, 60 minute episodes.

Most synopsis undersell the complexity of this series. I will give a synopsis first and review in the next paragraph. It is a slice of life of an entertainment agency and exhibits the trials and tribulations of doing public relations and managements for top talent in South Korea. Threaded through is a love story between the agency's top star, Gong Tae-sung (Kim Young-dae) and the agency's most diverse and talented public relations lead Oh Han-byul (Lee Sung-kyung) who also oversees most all functions of the agency. She can solve most crises except when Tae-sung deliberately creates situations to "one up" the girl he used to be a campus couple with, still harbors feelings for, yet wants to pay back for not giving him the level of attention he feels he deserves. Lots of comedic situations, a great lens on this portion of the entertainment industry, great chemistry between the leads, and interactions among friends.

The title of this one is amusing because in English asterisks and other special characters are used to block out letters in curse words. So this title reads quite different for me in my auto correct mind and probably does for many others who American English is their primary language. But, as it turns out, I think this was intentional because, at one point, one of the characters says their job is cleaning up the stars sh**t. So maybe the title is intentional.

Honestly most of the summaries of the plot I read for this failed to do justice to how interesting this is in terms of insight into an entertainment agency. I found myself greatly sympathizing with the managers who had to do the craziest things to appease the stars they managed and they way they emoted along with their various acting talents. For instance, if one of the stars was in a tragic drama, the manager often mirrored the emotional highs and lows of the actor they managed. I liked the playful nature of the relationship between the leads and how they were always trying to get one over on each other which made for a lot of comedic moments. I was disappointed that Lee Jung-Shin was not the lead instead he played entertainment company lawyer Do Soo-Hyeok. Since he is an idol I thought this would be the time he would get a lead role and I am still anxious to see him in a high profile lead role as I have enjoyed watching him so much. He was one of my favorite characters in "Cinderella and the Four Nights" and I thought he would make a great male lead as he played that very emotional role very well. Still Kim Young-dae did such an excellent job it would be hard to complain about his performance. I found his transformation from every day to his acting and modeling look to be quite dramatic. A slight change in hair and some makeup and he went from boy next door handsome to sizzling hot super star. I absolutely loved the way Kim Young-dae played the role. He was so cute in his relationship with her. I could not imagine anyone playing that role better than he did. And, it turned out, the Do Soo-Hyeok character had a very heart warming romance with the female leads friend. I just wished that one had a bit more time and they hadn't spent as much time having Soo-hyeok pine after our female lead as part of that love triangle. He was so much better suited for the reporter friend. There was a romance between two young actors who started out hating each other and fell in love but had to hide it because they both were not long from their debut. That was interesting. The one I could not buy nor care much about was the romance between the female lead's other friend, the relatively new manager, and her sunbae. To me it was an awkward relationship where she seemed like, and he treated her like, more of a younger sister. So I never got the chemistry from them and it felt like a waste of time everytime it switched to their story. I liked both of their roles individually but did not feel anything for them as a couple. So, that and just the fact that practically everyone wound up together with someone detracted from this being perfect. Other than that, I loved everything about it. I liked how they showed the complexity of covering all of the scandals, the pressure on both the agency and the actors, and the tough decision to focus either on love or career when you can't fully have both. Most movies about "idols" or actors falling in love, particularly with normal, non-famous people, it winds up either they have to quit pursuing fame or the romance does not work out. I liked that this showed it doesn't always have to be the case. I know with American actors there are some really long standing Hollywood couples and often those really long relationships are between someone who is famous and someone who is not. There are a couple of exceptions where both are famous but, for the most part, it seems to work out better when one is not famous. I have noticed in real life, with South Korean, there seems to be more forgiveness when it is an actor that winds up with someone not famous than if it is an idol. There is some hope that is changing but there still seems to be less scandal and problems if an actor dates outside of the famous circles than if an "idol" does so. I also found it interesting that his kiss scene was a thing where he had to emphasize that was work. I know with American actors I notice that, when the famous person has a serious relationship with someone, particularly someone that is not famous, they quit taking romantic roles. I just think that few relationships can survive one of the partners having that kind of intimacy even if it is just for work. I can even think of an instance, with one Hollywood couple, where an onscreen romance wound up ending a real life marriage. But they did not elaborate that angle as to whether or not he would continue to take lead romantic roles. Overall I loved this one and highly recommend it to anyone that likes romance, slice of life, or follows any of these actors. It ends well and happy. I would watch it again as I einjoyed it immensely.

Chaotic, Hilarious and Absolutely Crazy. Love it
chaitaly-0515015 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
T is absolutely hilarious!

The actors are so natural, the chemistry so effortless and the storyline qhilst a little predictable is also treated different in certain situations.

The enemy to lovers story, the inter-office romances, the bromance, friendships whilst in some instances are familiar but is still refreshing.

If you are having a bad day or week or month , this R. Com is definitely going to uplift your spirits.

Yu-Na is brilliant. Her agent's frustration with her is so relatable.

The camaradie between all the actors is also superb.

Yes, there are cons too but genuinely in today's unhappy times one needs a light show to take away your stress and better yet there is HEA which is now a days missing from the KDramas or frsutratingly realistic endings which is not wanted everytime.

The change of attitude of Han-Boel towards Tae-Sung especially towards his posters is cute.

Tae-Sung's attempts to know everything about Han-Boel is also very sweetly shown.

The lack of availability of good managers, trying to keep your stars in check whilst letting them be human beings is also nicely shown.

The reality of Stars, their love life, their marriages, getting cancelled, the pressures with fake rumours etc is also depicted very nicely.

At then end it just a positive show which shows both the negatives and positives and there are no villians because sometimes in reality too there arent any villians just bad circumstances.

I genuinely enjoyed and laughed so much.

Light and easy
Billy-7514 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is what you want to watch if you want something romantic, light and easy. I particularly loved the Oh Han Byul (female lead) character because she was such a competent person with moments of vulnerability and cuteness. Some K-drama female lead characters are just utterly chaotic most of the time and you can't understand why anyone would find them appealling.

There were mysterious backstories and intrigues that didn't drag on too long. When I watched this I was in the mood for something simple and it didn't disappoint on any level. There are lots of funny bits, scenes that pull on your heartstrings, and happy resolutions all round. I don't know how accurate it is but it was also a bit of an insight into the Korean star and star-management system.

The Gong Tae Sung male lead character is utterly delicious as well, with moments where I rewound a scene and rewatched it because he was so engaging.

Im just enjoying it and i love the main couple
sxhqjxm12 November 2023
I didn't have high expectations when I wanted to watch this drama, but I was wrong. This drama is a good drama. I finished this drama in just 2 days and didn't feel bored and was always curious about the next episode. Even though I did a lot of skip scene in side couple scenes but i love main couple story. I skip alot scenes from side couple because there are too many side couples in this drama, the main couple is very suitable. I feel the chemistry between ML and FL is very good and good. The kiss scene from ML and FL, the scene from enemies to boyfriends, the intimate scene between the two actors is very good and I really like it. The story is also not too bad and easy to follow. I give this drama 8.5 rating. If you want to watch this drama and are confused about whether to watch this drama or not, I highly recommend you to watch this drama.

SEASON TWOOOOOOOO PLEASE
CrookshanksG18 February 2024
I've seen a lot of KDramas in the past year (around 60+) and this is the first time I am giving a review here.

The story is pretty simple and I guess that was why it works. I love seeing what was happening behind the scene of top celebrities.

The writers surely made us fall in love with Gong Tae Sung with his character development. A top star that can have everything he wants handed to him, but remained simple especially when he's with Han Byul. The actor also does a great job portraying the character.

Oh Han Byul, played by Lee Sung Kyung, however, for me, is the reason why I have watched this show at least 3 times. She is a sight to behold. She plays the character so well. And made the character come alive and made the PR Manager job looks so cool and interesting. And if a non-celebrity must be Gong Tae Sung's girlfriend, she's definitely earned the right and the title with flying colors. She is breathtakingly gorgeous and beautiful and tall. She's a real-life model, after all.

Anyway, I wish this will have a second season, even a short one. I want to see their relationship bloom in front of the public, or even fail (at some point only!), because of the pressure of being constantly watched by the public and the media. I wanted to watch how they will grow and conquer the harsh reality that is the entertainment industry. I wanted to watch them persevere.

And, I also wanted to watch Oh Han Byul star in a magazine cover with Gong Tae Sung as she becomes a semi-celebrity with a little fan club of her own like Kang Yuseol.

Feel-good romcom, swoon!
meemsyd23 June 2023
For me, the perfect romcom. There's a charming frenemies to lovers plot, great female friendships, hilarious moments and deeper moments (but never so much angst that you feel super sad or frustrated). It felt really wholesome. The workplace setting is also interesting, behind the scenes of a Korean acting agency (not sure how much is accurate to life).

I will say the first episode is a little strange, but once you get past that it's pretty smooth sailing. I thought the female lead could have had a bit more of her own backstory, but overall the pacing was consistent and the story very satisfying. I found it engaging throughout and confident in the writing to pay off, very satisfying happy endings for everyone and a really nice feel-good watch.

Rom-Com Gem
ftzfatema12 July 2023
This k-drama is a gem of rom-com genre. The comedies are all so fresh and the romance scenes are all so heart fluttering. All the actors did amazing job in portraying their respective roles. Especially superstar Ggong (male lead Kim Young-dae) was so good. His facial expressions, detailed emotional changes in his eyes were so on point that made the drama more enjoyable. Applause for his brilliant acting skill.

The first half of the drama made me laugh so much that I will rewatch those episodes whenever I feel down. The second half was on the right mixture of both romance and comedy. The last few episodes, however, sometimes felt like a bit dragged.

One of the best thing about this drama is they do not wait till the final episodes to reach the climax. They introduced problems and solved them within few episodes. And so the story progressed, and I was all curious about what was about to happen next without getting bored. There were no unnecessary misunderstandings and everyone was so direct in expressing their feelings.

Despite having too many sub-plots in this story, this drama never once felt all over the place. Rather it was nicely and swiftly executed. However, there were some weak points in the story that I think they could have avoided. And it would have been much better if they ended it within 14 episodes.

Drama worth watching

One of the best romcom and feel good kdrama.

Loved all the 3 lead couples.

This is the first every time when all leading couples went on a date together. That was my most favourite part.

The hard work of people behind the camera was very well executed.

It's all about friendship, trust, love hard work, fangirling and professionalism.

The trust the actors, managers and the PR have on each other is incredible.

A delightful romcom!!
priyashashank7918 May 2023
A very sweet romantic comedy with plenty of LOL moments. Loved all the characters, this one has too many good looking people to swoon over, in addition to main leads. It was good to get an insight into lives of people who make celebrities into who they are. We feel the lives of celebrities and people around them are great, but this series tells us all is not hunky dory in their lives, with most celebrities not being able to have a private life. Not only that, the private activities of celebrities end up putting so much pressure on their support staff, as they are the ones that end up giving explanations and clarifications. I loved how the ML stayed true to the FL despite of his success and popularity, and how neither of them ever doubted each others' sincerity. The other couples were equally cute and deserving of the screen time. Overall a very entertaining series.

In one word another best drama
apranto19 August 2022
I know this drama already started to loss rating. I don't know why. Personally i like light weight rom-com drama. And if you are like me just ignore this rating and watch this drama.

If i write about the story of this drama, then story of this drama is too simple and straightforward. This drama is on PR team who work behind all success. And in my opinion director, producer all are successfully end this drama. I don't know why people giving low rating, this is not thriller drama.

So if you are searching for perfect rom-com drama, i think this is the best rom-com Between 2019-2022. They added comedy even when story is going in sad moment. And if you are talking about romance and chemistry, then they worth it. Not just lead couple, all others couple chemistry was more then enough. I think Director didn't do any compromise in romance, that's why he came with all his idea for all characters.

So in simple word i think this drama is the perfect rom-com drama in kdrama history. Not too much sad scene and not thriller. They made this drama with Perfect story with perfect romance and comedy.

One of the best romance k-dramas i have ever watched
minxxieuwu12 November 2022
The story i really good, I became so attached to the characters. The actors and actresses were really good(of course). The romantic relationships and friendships were great. Some relationships were unexpected too.😉

Dark stuff happened that really added to the plot which had a really heartwarming end to it.

Definitely one of the best romance k-dramas i have ever watched. I'd say it was top 2-3 in my list. Hehe.😉

I can't count the amount of times this kdrama made me smile and giggle. It made me cry a bunch of times too.😚

I felt so warm and full of good vibes after the last episode. I highly recommend watching this!!!❤❤❤
