"Lowndes County and the Road to Black Power" showcases the importance of the county in the Black Power movement.

In "Lowndes County and the Road to Black Power," Geeta Gandbhir and Sam Pollard expertly use impactful interviews and captivating archival footage to showcase the county's history and its importance in the Black Power movement. The film effectively investigates the development of alternate parties and organizations, and demonstrates the organization and teamwork that bolstered the movement. The human aspect of the activists is not made secondary to their activism, and the film effectively captures the nuances of the Civil Rights Movement. The interviews with SNCC activists and historians help to contextualize the information and make the film accessible to viewers. Overall, "Lowndes County and the Road to Black Power" is a powerful and detailed portrayal of the Black Power movement.

This is why they don't want this history taught.

This is actual news coverage of what went on with voting rights for black people in the south. If this part of American history is taught it might make people think. People might start connecting the dots on how and why black people haven't done as well as others. I applaud shows like this and I'm thankful for the people who make sure these types of programs get made. The fact that certain politicians don't want this being taught is schools speaks volumes. It's interesting that these politicians don't deny that this information is true. They just don't want people to know about it. All Americans should be wondering - what are they trying to hide and why are they trying to hide it.
