When Jed calls 911 from the gas station, the address he gives ("421 Route 66") is the actual physical address of the filming location in Moriarty, New Mexico.
Two of the buildings in this "gasoline alley" have to do with truthfulness.
The gas station and garage advertises that it's "The last honest mechanic in New Mexico" and is run by a guy named "Abe" (as in "Honest Abe").
There's also a place (possibly a church) called "The Truth Center" a few yards down the road from the garage.
Filmed at Sal & Inez's Services Station in Moriarty, New Mexico. In the episode, there is a "WHITING BROS" sign outside of the station. Whiting Brothers was a chain of gasoline stations established in 1926, but became defunct by the mid-1980s. Some of the vacant stations with the original Whiting Brothers branding still remain, visible but abandoned, on stretches of US Route 66. Sal & Inez's Service Station, purchased in 1985, is the last active station to still display original Whiting Brothers signage, which is seen in this episode.
The episode's director Rian Johnson directed Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi, while in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Anakin Skywalker famously uttered the meme-worthy phrase, "I hate sand." In this episode of the series, Natasha Lyonne's character also says the exact same thing.
Jed (Colton Ryan) asks Sara (Megan Suri) if she has ever heard of "Abu Ghraib". During the early stages of the Iraq War, members of the United States Army and the CIA were accused of a series of human rights violations and war crimes against detainees in the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
