Existentialism at its finest!

Triumph of the Wall is a beautifully woven documentary about our existence and it asks the questions about our ideas, what makes us tick, does it all really matter, etc. But it asks all these questions in a non contriving and non condescending way. In a way, the film Paterson is like a spiritual sequel to this documentary.

One can also identify with the building of a stone wall as showing who you are inside. Just like how a Hoarder shows how tangled up they are inside or how a neat freak shows their anal retentive insides. Building a stone wall definitely shows us something as well.

In the end, for myself at least, it's beautiful not knowing the answers to some things, but at the same time painful and frustrating not knowing the 'why' to other things. Fighting the self between doing good and wanting to do bad. Life is always somewhere walking the razor's edge, somewhere in between, for all of us. But being here is the gift no matter how painful it can be at times. And I think it's about what's right for the individual.

Some peoples callings are to film beautiful 'American Beauty' type moments, others is to mend broken hearts, others is to have many children or dogs or cats and love them with all their hearts, others is to work to live, and others is to live to work. Some peoples purpose may be to work on stone walls, or to just sit on a park bench and live in the now, but it always seems we are all walking the line of our existence in some way. And it's beautiful trying to find ourselves.

And perhaps just watching a wonderful caterpillar crawl on a log or watching water sift through the sand are the greatest gifts of them all. Simplicity is the utmost profound. But again, it could just be ideas that go nowhere. A great documentary! Worth seeing!!!
